Supermarket Sweep needs to come back. I use to watch it when it started either back in the late 80s or the early 90s. I loved watching them shoppers run around and grab whatever was expensive and back to the checkout lane to get the next empty cart to get more expensive stuff, or them big bonus items, to whatever else to get them extra money.
I think GSN should try to obtain the rights to this and SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP (either the Lifetime or PAX runs will do); they would be perfect for weekday mornings (between 8 and 10am). Who's with me?
I used to watch this show EVERY day. I LOVE this show. I was so excited, like I was in the store. I have never seen it done this fast before. I think it's a record.
They need to bring this show back or at least show the reruns. That was an awesome win and I love how she starts screaming like crazy when she sees the winning Blue Diamond Almonds
Lots of old classic games shows are getting revivals. Whammy, the All New Press Your Luck Let's Make a Deal, starring Wayne Brady Why don't they bring this show back?
I searched them on the Internet to find their last names and if I'm correct, are their names Rachel Zusser and Marisa Lynch? Nevertheless, they are some of the best players in the history of Supermarket Sweep!
YOu americans are MUCH better at this show than the Aussies. I used to watch this as a teenager and go MAD at how they would not grab 5 of the most expensive items. Great finish to this episode!
My dream job is to become a game show host and my first order of business then will be to bring this show back, because I used to watch it all the time.
"Portions of this program not affecting the outcome of the competition have been edited." means that the bits wher they changed costume or scanned the items (bits that dont have an effect on the game) were edited out
pretty close...i remember a bonus run in '91 where david noted after the team found the money in 30 seconds that they could've gone out there and found another 5k...in either case rachel and marisa are among the best contestants on supermarket sweep...(their sweep total was almost $1,500) a record if not very close to the highest sweep total i can recall) and fiding the 5k in 30 secs...
I remember watching this show all time when I was 8-12 years old. I always overreacted when someone would win the five grand. Man I miss this show so much :(
This was one of the most exciting runs I've ever seen! I think I watched it at least 50 times. I absolutely love that winner's siren -- I think it's the one from "$The 1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime." Kicks the crap out of the TPiR siren, for sure. No wonder I watched this show religiously... it may have been cheap, but it was fun! I hoped to be a contestant, but it got cancelled. Too bad.
If a team has gotten the $5,000 before they found all of the clues, David's voice would come out over the loud speaker saying "Find the remaining clues." It happened before but very infrequently.
Supermarket Sweep was an outstanding show. They don't make game shows as good as this anymore. Instead there are stupid game shows like "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" and "Deal or No Deal". I've watched a lot of episodes of Sweep and these 2 teams are easily 2 of the best to ever appear on the show. It's a shame that one of these teams had to lose.
ETA 8/29/21: I stand corrected-having seen the older Lifetime episodes resurface on the Buzzr channel, the worst Big Sweep performance was SEVEN DOLLARS. The team did not earn any additional time, and wasted their whole 1:30 trying to gather the items for the $250 "shopping list" bonus.
WOW, I watched this show religiously for years and don't ever remember a bonus win in :30... amazing! Very close sweep too. Hope GSN picks up this show next year as rumors say they will.

Just my opinion, but if they ever brought this show back, they should give a cash bonus (in addition to the grand prize) for every second left on the clock, to give contestants more of an incentive to find all the products as fast as they can -- say, $100 for every second left. It would make things even more exciting, and be somewhat better than a flat $5000 bonus.
I don't knwo if this is the one you're talking about but i have one on tape where they found it but put it back right away, they found the other 2 clues with about 2 or 3 seconds left and sprinted to the 3rd but didn't get there in time but David explained they needed to find the other 2 clues first.
Gosh I miss this show! I've wondered, did the contestants keep what they got from the Supermarket? Also, who remembers this show when it was on Lifetime?
is rachel and marissa's bonus round time a record? i can't recfall seeing anyone finding the cash that fast on any of the eps i've seen on both versions of supermarket sweep (lifetime version that aired at 1pm EST, and the canadian version that aired at 10am on various canadian stations)
