Nice video, and good to see one built with the gun shield up the right way! I wish I had done my research before my assembly. It was good to see the comparison with the BF resin/metal kit. Some of the detail was stronger on the BF kit, but the metal parts weren't very crisply cast. Something that gives the plastic kit a bit of an edge...

I have built this kit. I wish that I saw this video before I built it. I followed the instructions and put the gun shield upside down. Also, I didn't glue the ball mount for the gun. I wanted it to be moveable.

I’m more leaning towards the much better-detailed Battlefront resin-and-metal model than Zvezda’s plastic offering, but there are metal details that look blobby on the Battlefront one. I would buy both kits, and then superglue some plastic parts onto the Resin hull so I can get the best of both worlds.

TopBunkProductions I am thinking some leftover bits from the battlefront Tiger kit would give some added interest to the Zvezda kit.

That's actually a really good idea. That tiger came with two sets of skirts. You'd just have to shave the zvezda ones off. I can't imagine that would be too hard.

A five second look in Encyclopedia of German Tanks Of WW II on page 138 of my 1978 copy would have solved that gun shield issue. And paperback copies are on Amazon and are not that expensive.

That's probably true, but it doesn't help if you never suspect there's anything amiss with the gun shield in the first place.

I wish the side skirts were better on the Zvezda. Any plans for the Zvezda Maus? It is a great model!

As someone else commented parts from the battlefront tiger could be used and you could easily upgrade the zvezda side skirts. I mean. It probably wouldn't be worth buying the battlefront tigers specifically to do that... but if you had them laying around... I do plan to get the Zvezda maus. Also the King Tiger and Jagdtiger too.

is there any historical evidence of some kind of folded position for the crane? maybe to traberse bridges? it seems really fragile like standing on the roof.

Do you have any suggestions what to use in place of decals?

Personally I'd just use decals from another manufacturer. Maybe Plastic soldier company. You could also try hand painting markings if you've got a steady hand.
