A well paced and detailed video sir. I too have spent today loading a ZWO 7 x 36mm EFW, with a view to mount it onto an ASI533MM-Pro. I like the tip about masking the unused screw holes in the two cover plates. But instead of black electrical tape which may shift over time and has a thickness, albeit minuscule, I chose to carefully filled the holes with black silicon sealant to prevent light passing in to the interior of the EFW, after removing the filter cassette. This was easily found at my local car accessory shop for less than a fiver. Carefully filling the holes and wiping off the excess proved successful, when holding the cover plates to the sun to check. Also ran a thin ring of black sealant between the motor casing and the 'camera side' cover plate, as light could be seen entering here.
Excellent video! I’m going to be taking on this challenge in the next week or so as well. How did you find the mounting of the filter wheel to the camera? I was wondering whether it would be better to do that first, then install the filters second.
It’s an it depends answer. If you want to retain the ability to adjust tilt on the camera and you’re going to screw it on via the spacer adapter (assuming you have a 2600mm) I would mount the camera last to reduce the chance of dust getting into things. ZWO Filter Wheel Slipping during imaging session. This issue is that the filter has started to slip when imaging. The filter is not lined up with the camera sensor and shows a line in image. When I manually rotate filter it centers back up and image is ok, but after about 5 300 sec images it starts to slip and filter moves and there’s a dark edge of on image showing the side of filter wheel filter frame. Any idea on how to fix let me know tks I lost about 2 hr of image's because of this :-(
Urgh that sounds like a pain. If you are using an ASIAIRpro you could try a recalibration of the filter under the EFW settings. A possible hack workaround again with AAP would be in your autorun schedule, you could do something like 3x 300 ha, 1x 5sec L, 3x 300 ha etc etc. Of course having it checked out from where you bought it also an option depending on how bad it is and how long you can go without it.
