I drag raced aTLR 15 years ago. With just a little weight loss and a few modifications to exhaust, airbox and fuel settings, it ran 10.2/135mph. So I think the TLR guy was having a sleep.
Sorry to burst any ego bubbles here, but with a time of 11.11 @ 123 mph it's apparent that his TLR isn't setup to do anything other than look stupid on the freeway. If you can keep the front end down, a bone stock TLR can easily run in the 10s. And while a ZX14 will beat a TLR up top with ease, that's just reality, an unmolested TLR will kill anything off the line [or stall lol.TL owners know what I'm talking about] :)
The rotary damper suspension on a TL makes it HORRIBLE in the corners. I love TLs, I've had several, and they are good for nothing but going straight in a real big hurry. Problem is they are so restricted from the factory, you have to modify them to make them fast. But my last one was running mid 9s @ 140 mph
I'm sorry but the tl has more of a place on the drag strip than circuit racing.. This was obvious rider error. The Tl would have won no doubt given the circumstances and mods he has
Dude you gonna have to prove to me that you owned a TL that was running 9's , that just sounds like a straight LIE !!! LOL , a TL running 9's ... Wake the hell up ....
The only way to drag a TL that has been geared lower with nitrous would be with a wheelie bar and slick....otherwise, forget about it. Looking at the time it put down, I would think it to be more stock than anything.
Are you the owner of the bike? Because I talked to the owner and he told me the opposite. It was geared low for the dragstrip. That's how he bought it. I know the guy he bought it from and he built it specifically to drag race. Not top speed stuff.
Yeah I'm the owner, I thought I told you it was geared high like as in tall gears, I got the bike dyno and for the power it's not bad, all I know you can ride and no messing around with your bike it's hella fast, to bad you didn't get a video of some one else video tap us going down the track would like to see the launch, my bike is equivalent to a new 600cc bike, I probably gonna put stock gears back in it
Okay , let me be the voice of Reality here . A TL is in NO WAY a drag bike. In fact , most decent 600’s will eat TL’s for breakfast. They’re heavy, underpowered, geared horribly, and Has a V Twin engine. They can be nice bikes and are beautifully made , but that’s about it ....
nah bro, set up correctly a TL will eat things off the line due to the torque. Thats what the vtwin gives it. Its not long in the tooth but in a drag scenario with the proper rider youre going to run 10s easy.
I do this too. I ride and maintenance my own Harley. Ive had RC51s, have a TLR currently and enough parts to build 3 TLS's in my shed. Your experience with them and mine are different I suppose. I wouldn't drag it personally but ive seen a 10 ran with my own eyes at Rockingham on an R.
Evan Reid I’m sure you have and that I guarantee was with a worked engine.. Rc51s and Tlrs are just not drag bikes and are both known to suffer at the strip ... seen too many 600s beat up on TLRs and RCs for that matter . JeRd they were good road race bikes ...
