MMPR is more obviously for children. This is still a children's show, but Japanese standards are different. It's still filled with silliness, stereotypical situations (avenging a dying father is ridiculously common in Japanese media, as is revenge in general), and a schizophrenic tone wherein it's almost a mature story one minute, and the characters are acting like they're in a cartoon the next. Just look up the Bandora song. It comes about a minute before the hellfriede sword is introduced. Not to mention all the hammy, over-the-top writing. "I'll defeat you and conquer the world!"
Dude they really should've Did the whole universes collide thing ND mixed up power rangers with super Sentai then again Sentai is a little much for kids
I really, really wish Boom Studio makes in its Power Rangers comics a multiverse arc with the MMPR facing the Zyurangers themselves, and then expanding the story with other Sentai teams. I can even imagine a "What If..." universe where Burai actually kills Geki and the Zyurangers, and then steals Byakkoshinken to become the Sentai version of Lord Drakkon.
Fun Fact: Young Burai was played by the same actor who played Kou in Dairanger. That's cool the same actors play either different characters in the super sentai verse.
I hope Saban just adapted some of the story line for the 90s MMPR. Maybe the reboot ägain"for the MMPR could adapt this story line instead being so Hollywood.
It's not the megazord here. In Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger the "zords" are actually the gods they worshipped in their tribes. So he got called out by a god.
After knowing how this scene plays out in power rangers, its a bit of a shocker to see a zyuranger's own mecha attack him for refusing to fight back. And the fact its sentient enough to attack the dragon ranger.
Its one of those fun things that finally piece everything together. Why were there so many shots of the rangers looking up and talking/emoting to the zords? Because they were alive lol same with the mummified green ranger.. it was so totally burai in mmpr
@ Raven Link And yet you would like megazord talk like a transformer with a will of its and blast the red warrior even have the chosen warriors to understand their dinosaurs their roars and screech and have one them talk in a big booming voice in America version of this?
@Raven Link Sentai shows does have direct sequel follow-ups, It's only 100% crossover movies between the previous show and the next show like Dekaranger vs Magiranger (SPD vs Mystic Force), Goseiger vs Shinkengers (Megaforce vs Samurai), etc. Even also have crossovers with multiple rangers from before like Gaorangers vs Super Sentai and Boukenger vs Super Sentai
As for my opinions. They should be called Dino Rangers in PR instead of MMPR. Jason Narvy as Skull could be the Sabertooth Tiger, Dino Yellow Ranger instead of Thuy Trang.
It really is. they're prehistoric tribe members who worshipped God forms of the dinosaurs that they get their powers from and are all over 150 million years old. They're not really robots like they look, but they take different forms to blend into the era they're in. Since they woke up in Tokyo in 1993 they took the form of Gundam style robots so that the people would know they were the heroes at first glance.
@Raven Link You joking? Most US show are more savage than this. The difference is that content for 8+yo in Japan is mostly 12+yo in USA because Japanese kid are way more responsible and mature than western kid being overprotected by their parents and because the society treat kid like they have no brain
So my dad willingly gave me to the king, started a one man coup, lost fair and square in a sword fight, tried stabbing the king in the back after he spared his life and said avenge me to the brother?
Burai has a special place in my heart. I love him because he looks exactly like me. I have a Burai costume my aunt made me since I was a teenage boy. It still fits me now as an adult. I use this costume for Halloween and for cosplaying conventions. Plus green is my number one favorite color. Matches my skin tone. I will say Burai steals the show.
That is crazy in America they sell it to us like he was only a machine and it must be operated by the rangers .. increíble in Japan he is independent and he thinks and talks. Like he can do everything without the rangers.
Ok but if the zords (or whatever they were called here) have their own will and are conscious, why do the rangers still need to hop in and control them from the inside? One of the few things that make more sense in PR.
The God of that world, Kyukyoku DaiZyujin, after fighting against Satan and imprisoning the witch Bandora, was so weakened that his essence was divided into several parts, into Zords and power coins. That is why human warriors are needed to handle both coins and Zords, because by itself the Kyukyoku DaiZyujin can no longer. There are times when, like in this video, the DaiZyujin can move by itself, but they are only in a few very specific moments. All this of the fight between God and Satan is explained at the beginning and details of this are given in the course of the series.
Just FYI the green rangers dragon shield the reason why they didn't use the same hard sentai one was because the Sentai crew sent Saban and exact copy of it but it got damaged overseas so they went with that soft piece of cloth dragon shield instead
i have to re watch the show... buraid dies and become good at the dead bed right? i think thats way cooler than: im bad... now im good. Look nostalgia is a hell of a drug, nothing bad with Jason Frank he was a cool dude, but the OG is waaay better than MMPR
