Next year will be 60 years that Roger Daltrey & Pete Townshend been playing together with The Who. If Keith Moon & John Entwistle were still alive they would have ZZ -Top beat by almost 10 years lol.
Just imagine.... this was the kind of music that was played all over the radio and TV back in the 80s. We had it so good when it came to music growing up in that decade.
My sentiments exact. Back before instant internet fame for talentless musicians with autotune vocalists. To be on the radio you had to have survived long enough to have put in your dues and EARNED the right to be on the air. This meant a combination of talent, dedication, and a bit of luck. Now it is mainly just luck.. everything else is done via computer.
you all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
dust hill and frank beard also were made cars from the same guyon account of the man didn't want to sell his own custom car the band even gave the man a blank check for it. lol or so the story goes. :)
I remember one time ZZ Top was on The Tonight Show, and after they played the camera cut to Johnny Carson before the commercial break and he had a long beard on. This song and Sharp Dressed Man are my two favorites by them.
John Campbell oh ok 👌. I was thinking more along the lines of albums such as ZZ Top’s First Album ( title of album), Tres Hombres, Tejas, and Rio Grande Mud.
@@GJRight That's why I phrased it that way and didn't say, "You're wrong." There was also a 3 year gap before Dequello. That's an easy one between the early and '80s sound, though that sound was recorded until Tejas.
John Campbell Yes Sir! Most people today only know songs like “Cheap Sunglasses” and all the hits of the 80’s and beyond. I grew up with their beginning albums in the early 70’s and the rest of the decade. Again, most people only know them from Billy Gibbons and Dust Hill’s long beards and don’t know them when they were sporting cowboy hats and and Frank Beard had the long hair. Again, you’re correct with Deguello being released in ‘79, the point I was trying to make for Mr. Jamel was to explore music from their first album all the way up to Tejas. Good, good, old Texas Rock N Roll from that little old band from Texas!
@@GJRight Pre-Eliminator, I only knew Tush, La Grange, Cheap Sunglasses and Thank You. It wasn't until "The ZZ Top 6 Pack" came out (which excluded Dequello) that I got to know the early stuff. Then I had to sell everything. But I got this little CD LP replicas set "The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1990" pretty cheap. I am happy again.
My first concert was ZZ Top back in the late eighties when I was just a kid. Haven't missed a show since. Some of the most entertaining stage shows I've ever seen.
Why does nobody else think about think about thug thug thug from the illuminated that is oh my Lord that bass is a dude he's throwing that base in into the damn wall
Saw them live in all their bearded glory in the 80's & also saw them in the early 70's before they even had beards. Great show both times. "Waitin' For the Bus" & "Jesus Just Left Chicago" should be next, Jamel. One song flows into the next. Great rock turns into low down old-fashioned blues. Both from their 1st album. You'd LOVE 'em!!💙
Nope "Jesus just left Chicago" and "Waitin' for the bus" was form Tres Hombres, ZZ Top's Third album. ZZ Top's First Album was real cool though.I would say ZZ Top's first 3 albums were their best.
Yessah!! A little band with a big ol' sound that's been kickin it for a whole BUNCH of years! When you watch a live performance, you'll understand why. Can't wait!! Thanks for this, sir!
59 Now 23 when the first time I heard this tune . Best parties of my life . Still rocking to this and pissing off the neighbours . Thanks for the reminder of how lucky I was . Enjoy the channel .
Rough Boy video? I remember that video. Eliminator is turned into space car, correct me if I am wrong, Space Eliminator is getting a tune up and washing. I have to watch the video to be sure

I saw them 4 times. '75, '77, '81 and '84. Each time was better than the one before. Rest well, Dusty. You entertained millions for years. You deserve peaceful rest.
Loving the reactions braddah. A quick one... 2 of the greatest guitar solos in the world are by ZZ Top. Interestingly enough on the same song. It's a long one but I highly recommend it. ZZ Top - I Need You Tonight Sadly, there is no official video, only the track, but it is so good that it doesn't need a video.
Back in 1993 I drove non-stop from LA to Austin listening to nothing but this album "Eliminator" and Def Leopard the whole way. Made the run in 21 hours.
He has said this about several guitar players as he was deeply humble off stage. Then again, no one asked him in the middle of a solo behind his head. Not so humble on stage.
Thing is, Hendrix and Gibbons have the exact same playing style. The only difference, the type of accents, where to use them and when. Small details, but that small detail made their styles unique to everyone else amd each other. This made Hendrix highly respect Gibbons. There one other that plays this same style, but incorporates his own unique accent: Josh Homme.
Oh my gosh it's only love I haven't heard that in a while that's a good one there buddy I love that song Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers I'm bad I'm Nationwide Uno top-to-bottom I've heard all of ZZ Top from beginning middle and end it's kick ass if you like some bass from The Eliminator and also arrested for driving while blondes pretty pretty awful and if you're really Blues he's after the rain
If people if anybody like some southern rock and roll song at you probably haven't heard or haven't heard in awhile is block that's the name of the group Blaque fit bunch of rock and roll Southern Indian buddies they do a song that's called Fox Chase Blackfoot Fox Chase from the Tomcat I don't want to word oh my word
"Look at those beards blowin' in the wind!" Ironically, the only beard *not* blowing in the wind was drummer Frank Beard's beard, since Beard never had a beard.
While not a blanket fan of all things ZZ Top I do love quite a few of their tunes. Legs, Sharp Dressed Man, Doubleback, Gimme All Your Lovin..... jams. That said, I like their sound and would love to check out a show by them because they give off the vibe of putting on a rocking show.
You are just too cool. Talk about groovin'... You're the best! still find it amazing watching you see something for the first time that I saw a hundred times as a kid... Good old MTV
There is a great picture of them playing a High School prom, after they were famous. They had promised to play and by god they played. Best prom band ever.
Drive down an open road, no traffic , at dusk and listen to this song at around medium loud with the windows open and tell me how good this song is at that moment.
My favorite groups are Grand Funk Railroad, ZZ Top, Marshall Tucker band, The Allman brothers, The Doobie brothers, Chicago, and Pink Floyd, all old school I'm going on 67 years old we had the bestimes and best music back in the 70s 80s and 90s.
In a brilliant move, they left room for a sequel, as he sees the car driving off. The story picks up in the video for "Sharp Dressed Man," where the guy is now a valet. Establishing the car and the girls as iconic images of ZZ Top helped them wow the younger generation. The car was so popular that Gibbons had another one made to take on tour.
Remember going to W H Smith with my dad, he brought this album on vinyl, I remember thinking the car on the front was the coolest thing I'd even seen. Got home mum was out he put it on his B&O stereo with speakers the size of fridges, turned it up to 11, sounded amazing. Still love this song and album 35yrs later.
There's hardly a more iconic symbol of the early years of MTV than the ZZ Top Eliminator car. A fixture in several videos-including “Gimme All Your Lovin',” “Sharp Dressed Man,” and “Legs”-the fire-engine red 1933 Ford coupe was the culmination of guitarist Billy Gibbons' lifelong fascination with hot rods.
I was surprised to learn *ZZ TOP* was a much older band than I thought. I first discovered them, and these videos, in the early 1980s, thanks to MTV. They were on the soundtrack to the movie *_'Easy Rider' (1969)_* several years before.
I saw ZZ Top one time at the Lakeland Civic Center (FL) in March 1986, don't remember which night. Jimmy Barnes was the opening act. Fuzzy guitars were in effect.
ZZ Topp was a Texas blues band in the 80s and transitioned to this unique, MTV friendly, kinda electronic dance blues sound in the 80s. These 80s songs are basically blues songs, but with an electronic dance beat up under.
