Insulin Lispro is compulsory or any rapid acting can be given?
@NurseRyan
@NurseRyan День назад
Hi, I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! Insulin lispro is just one example of a rapid acting insulin (bolus insulin). Other examples include Insulin aspart, Insulin glulisine, and Insulin regular. Hope that helps!

I was prescribed with ciprofloxacin 500mg (2x/day) and Metronidazole (3x/day) running at the same time for 10 days. Is that combination not uncommon? Isn't that too potent? I'm yet to start the regimen. I'm so worried about the combined side effects.

Hi, I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! That being said, I quickly looked through some online studies, and it appears that a combination of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole was effective in treating recurrent or refractory pouchitis, is used for treatment of mixed aerobic/anaerobic infections, and more. But again, weighing the risks/benefits for antibacterial treatment is always an important discussion to have with your healthcare provider!

I have been taking ecitalopram for 6 years. It made me feel numb with my emotions. I dont care as much about things as i normally would. I would like to discontinue but i am unable to so, since along with me being able to feel and care again come the depressive mood and rumination. I belive everything is caused by stress. Even when stressful triggers are no longer part of my life. I am addicted to these pills😢

Hi, I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! The answer depends greatly on many factors like the type of wound, type of infection, severity of infection, pre-existing conditions, etc. Typically these kinds of antibiotics are prescribed for approximately 1-2 weeks.

Any idea if Lansoprazole helps with Pill induced esophagitis?
@NurseRyan
@NurseRyan 15 дней назад
Hi, I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! However, to help prevent pill induced esophagitis, some recommend taking the pill with at least 1 cup of water, and to remain upright for 0.5-2 hours after taking it. In some cases, a PPI (like Lansoprazole) can be used. But again, every case is different!

Hi Ryan, is it necessary to round the ml to 6.3? I used 6.25 til the end of my formula and got 350… If so, why? Thanks! I only rounded off the final answer.
@NurseRyan
@NurseRyan 27 дней назад
Hi, for these types of questions, we typically round to the nearest tenth (the first decimal place) for adults, unless otherwise specified in the question. This is typically how it is done in practice too, because most syringes and medications are not required to be specific to the hundredth decimal place (however, some will be). If you don't round to the nearest tenth, even if you get the correct answer in the end (which doesn't always happen), you may lose points as part of 'showing your work.' Hope that helps!

If this medication decreases dopamine and serotonin, would that not lead to mood decreasing symptoms? as those to chemicals when released help to make you less depressed?
@NurseRyan
@NurseRyan 20 дней назад
Olanzapine is not typically used for depression on it's own. It is sometimes given for depression in combination with Fluoxetine (a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) which raises serotonin levels in the brain. Also, Olanzapine is not first-line for depression, however, it is used in patients with episodes of depression associated with bipolar disorder type 1 and treatment-resistant depression.

I was there, and this stuff was a game changer! My completely non-medical, unprofessional, experienced only based advice: don’t stay on this stuff for too long. It was such a great change of my life that I stayed on it for about five years, then weaned myself off, and finally realize that I think I just stayed on it a little bit too long. When you’re on it, it’s great, but also use it as a tool to realize this is how my life can be and how I can live my life. Then maybe after a year or two or whatever consider trying to wean yourself off of it. And I do know you need to wean yourself off of it with a professional. You can see if you’ve rewired your brain a little bit at point to cope with anxiety just more typical skills, and you can always go back on if you have to right?
