Had a Mongoose Ledge X1 and ran it into the dirt had to fix several things such as the handlebar realign the brakes true the wheel and then the derailleur broke on me and returned it today for X2 hopefully it goes better with the assembly it but I can't really afford something else it's a fixer upper for me
I bought a second hand Schwinn Axum bike 29', however, I've made upgrades on her, since the parts that comes with the bike by default, are not the best ifntou really want to take it to another level. I have to say that the people love the finish on the body of the bike and that's the only thing I like, but I upgrade to hydraulic brakes, Shimano Deore transmission, the seat, ergonomic grips, tubeless tires even the pedals.
Thanks for the review. I just grabbed the bike on sale directly through GT for $520 shipped so I think I did well. None of the other brands offer the package this one does for less than $650. I was most impressed with the 1x drivetrain of this one vs 2x on more expensive brands. The fork upgrade is easily doable if I ever decide I need it.
Hi, your braking distance is a little bit long. If you put 9 € - 180 mm rotors F+ R, and set the brakes, to almost lock your wheels, you can get some 27 - 29 f. with cheap mech. M375 brakes with OEM brake pads.
I think what youve found is that your tires bike, and combined weight allows stops between about 40-47 feet. I dont think any one combination is helping more or less than another.
When fork manufacturers say you can only go up to a 180mm rotor, the braking power would obviously be a lot more if they were hydraulic, compared to cable. If they are high end hydraulics like Shimano XT/XTR or the fancy Magura/Hope or whatever, even more powerful, so I wonder how they come up with the rating. It would only work if they intended the limit to apply to the most powerful hydraulic brakes you'd ever be using? 🤔
this is a big difference for road application and mountain. mtb brakes get HOT and fade when you are really putting them through their paces. I have a 220 rotor on the front of my full suspension and a 200 rotor on the rear. I don't like squeezing hard to stop when my brakes get hot and start fading... my hands are already tired from the terrain
I am considering the DJI cameras. Why? 1. I bought two GoPro Hero 7 blacks in 2019. One doesn't work anymore & the other one is extremely unreliable 2. I bought two GoPro Hero 8's in 2022. One now consistently cycles on and off The second one turns off within 15 seconds . Neither one is usable anymore 3. I bought a 3rd GoPro Hero 8 in 2023. It now turns off within seconds after I push the on button it is not usable either 4. All five of these GoPro have had issues with heat, inconsistent recording, & corrupting files. 5. There is always a daily frustrating issues every time I use the GoPros
Can use cut cable ties aswell works but you have to cut 3 zip ties and slide them down the same way as the one up thing and not wrapped around the tube

So what you are saying is. If i buy this bike. Replace the suspension and bearings and a good wheelset a new cockpit. A better drivetrain and brakes. I can have a nice budget mongoose for only $600-$800....................... More than a gt sensor
I used to try Avid BB7 with ceramic pads on Norco VPS Shore bike with 203mm rotors and it was perfectly braking, almost same like Hayes HFX-9 I bought after, mechanical disc brakes are much simpler to maintain in opposite to hydraulic ones, for cross and lighter MTB bikes are very good solution, I used them on my Author cross bike for years and I'm very satisfied
I haven’t ever tried hydraulic brakes. I have mechanical disc brakes, and they seem to work a little better than rim brakes. I haven’t tried upgrading the rotors or pads.
I personally would not. And that actually doesn’t have anything to do with the image quality, it’s the fact that GoPro has not updated the fusion desktop app since 2018. 90% of your experience with a 360 camera is actually in the software. Insta360 not only is continuously updating their platform, but has legacy support for all their old cameras
I grew up next to some serious trails made by 4x4's. I aspired to do these trails so I, as an 8 years old, bought a cheap roadmaster 21 speed at a garage sale. I was ecstatic to finally have a bike with gears, as I had always ridden bmx. Being used to bmx, I rocked that crappy little bike on those trails with nothing but a few flat tires. I got a cheap mongoose and beat it even harder, assuming it was top shelf. These bikes never broke. I jumped, did downhill, etc. They did not climb well, but as a kid I wasn't trying to climb. I would just walk it. Walmart bikes were ok back in the nineties but who knows now. Schwinn was known as top of the line in my neighborhood.
this video is crap. i can grab a brand new trek and do exactly the same thing. ride over small rocky trail and bounce around saying uhhuhhiuhhgh..!! and make the bike look like crap if i were hating on Trek. this guy is a Clown. Bike Super-Snob..!!! i have this same bike. and it has not giving me any problems, and i and i am a heavy set Guy. i used to Ride the Mongoose XR-Pro, and never upgraded anything other than the pedals and new tires after i wore out the factory rubber. and never had a problem with that one either. other than the annual tune up. to adjust cable tensions and lube. this is a Great starter BIke. Nothing wrong with this as it sits for "entry level ridding"...!!!
Recently got a beat up mongoose ledge 2.1 and the rear wheel wobbled and took it off and I see there is slop in rear hub.Alsosee there is ball bearings only on one side of the bike.Is actually possibly only to have bearings on one side of an axle.Haven’t worked on bikes much and trying to figure out what the deal is and if I am missing parts on the axle?.

Like all other modern (predatory) companies these days they are not interested in you being able to fix their products they just want you to buy another unit. Bad for you but good for their bottom line. Guess which one wins?
Well I'm 57 years old, I bought a few Walmart bikes and they've done whatever I put him through. Also you can build them up. I remember back in the day you just bought a regular store-bought bicycle and we abuse those bikes. I mean from going over the ramps. Riding in the woods you name it.
Budget bike? Are you serious? Not everyone has money that grows on trees my man....next time choose your words better...budget bike is under 500 for most of the population
What are some good budget full suspension MTB. I was considering the ledge x2 or the impasse. I think since mongoose went with Walmart they went cheaper with quality.
For full suspension, budget would be between $1,500-$1,900 new. There are a lot of great options from Polygon, Marin, and GT. A lot of bike shops are having some major fire sales right now because they are so overstocked, so hunt around locally and you may find some awesome deals.
