Welcome to the Seth Michael RU-vid channel! I'm a motorcycle enthusiast, photographer, videographer, graphic designer and probably a few other things. Follow along as I document the Tampa Motorcycle scene as well as our group, Bay Area Riders.
I'll also be test riding some of the most anticipated motorcycles in the world upon their arrival to the Tampa Bay Area. Motorcycles brands such as Aprilia, Ducati, BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Triumph.
The short version of all of this is, you're going to see a wide range of different content. (Mostly wrapped around motorsports some way or another.) From photoshop, Lightroom CC and Illustrator tutorial to weekly vlogs, moto vlogs and test rides.
The Tampa Motorcycle community is one of the best in the country. Come along for the ride!
Put the standard pipes back on. The battery iissue has had a recall for software update. Once you do that i think you will ride the bike every day and love it.
Great video! You answered questions that a "master tech" wouldn't at an unscrupulous dealership here in Florida! I wondered why the "sales manager" demanded an "unlimited" battery warranty for $1000! Not to mention a $2,500 charge to build the bike-meaning set up out the crate! Glad i didn't buy their BS! Great to see a vlogger so honest and not sucked into trying to be a brand ambassador. Thank you again, for reassuring me that i made the right choice not to buy this crap
I had a 2022 Challenger that had several ride command issues. The dealer ended up buying it back from me. I now have a 2023 Pursuit. I have had ZERO issues with that bike in the 21,000mi I have on it so far. They came out with a battery fix that Indian now sent to all the dealers. Problem solved. By the way, you absolutely can not compare a new bike with all the tech to a 1998 whatever brand bike. I used to have a 2021 GoldWing that was exactly like the Challenger in that it needed to be plugged in to a tender. I hear your complaints but there are now tunes out there from RVS, Lloydz and 210 Speedlabs. My Indian Pursuit is absolutely amazing.

Thanks for posting fellow floridian and way better youtuber than us! We were thinking about trading in my wife's Harley Low Rider ST on a Challenger! Now we are not and we both subscribed to you! Great video!
If you modify the exhaust wouldn't that void your warranty ? Especially when it's a EPA certified exhaust system . Plus the bike was designed to run with the catalytic converter . You might have to re-map the computer . I have a BMW and I just left it alone. 😊
Sounds like the electricals suck that they are using . Hopefully you can get enough riding time out of the bike before you have other issues . I remember waiting a few years so the manufacturers get all the bugs worked out . No they fix them after they take your hard earned cash . Good luck with your new bike .
that is HORSESHIT i have left bikes to sit for months and they may have a slow start but they run and charge the battery right back up, keep it on a trickle charger? wtf and what if i'm on vacation? i gotta beg the hotel owners to use their outside plugs so i can plug my bike in? foh indian is wild for that
Damn and I thought my 22 Harley Davidson had a lot of issues That’s scary since I’m considering dropping a ton of money on a new pursuit Hope thing work out for ya brotha 🤞🏼🤞🏼
I have a 2022 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty. The first year I had it - it spent six months in the shop. Half of its life in the shop. The "advisors" they have in the service department try very hard to convince you it's your fault. Including telling me an Indian motorcycle has to always remain perfectly upright - never leaned in a curve or put on its own freakin kickstand! How in the hell are you supposed to ride a bike that can't lean in a curve? How do you take it somewhere you don't have a stand to keep it perfectly upright? These are questions neither the advisor nor the warranty manager would answer only repeat that they must stay upright and the warranty manager threw out there they can't fix a bad rider... And they told me the same thing "Indian says it's in spec". So, Indian's spec is that you ride for ten minutes and the bike turns off and won't restart? Before it even has 500 miles on it? No, no one would think these are sane arguments! Months of back and forth and back and forth, more crap attempts at excuses, them "misplacing" my bike and being unable to locate it whenever I would call for updates (as like you they would never call me, I had to call them), and so much more aggravation. I had to go into the dealership showroom screaming to get them to do anything. Now suddenly it's a full tear down. Now they discover a bad fuel pump, bad fuel sender, and a myriad of other major mechanical issues . On a new damn bike. They left it outside for an extended period in Florida where it rains daily in the summer. Odometer got flooded so it had to be replaced. Replacement is falling apart now. Various paint chips and scuffs. ABS system was disabled and not repaired. Which is annoying but I will eventually fix myself. On the ISB groups and forums I've come to find having major issues with a new bike is a common occurrence for Indian. Which is sad given the price we pay to own these machines. Indian has definitely soured me on the brand. My ISB is coming up on 10k miles, needs new tires, and I'm very reticent to take it to Indian for that service. I just don't have any trust for them at all anymore.
Sorry you have been having problems. My 2023 Chieftain has never given me any problems. I've been leaving all my bikes on trickle chargers for more than 10 years never had any issues whatsoever. Even my 2024 Africa Twin with a Lithium ion battery is on a charger. Buy a good quality charger with a very low flow rate and stick it on a GFCI and its no more a risk than your TV
We get it, you bought one with a few issues, you like Hondas, and you love the hits you get from this negative review. 40k on mine, no major issues and no tender unless it's winter. Most fun and comfortable bike I've ever owned. Rode a Goldwing, great bike, but it's boring.
Sorry for your frustration. As for the plugging in the bike with the heavy electronics on this thing it is a must. There is a parasitic draw. A service bulletin was issued for software update. Always a battery maintainer. I use a Honda Optimate3 and have since 2015. No issues. As for the data, this is used for the Indian Motorcycle RC command app where you can see your rides your vehicle health and other information. There are also some pretty good Facebook pages that I belong to. They are very helpful with information. One of their chief complaints has always been with the 2023 is that there is no tune yet. But I have read that Llodz is trying to get around that. This is why I have never strayed far from just installing slip-ons. Not a performance guy. Good Luck!
I have a 23 challenger that have had no issue like your runs and rides great and sits at time for days between rides and zero battery issues really sorry you are having that kind of issues
I’ve owned mine since 2007and love it as well. At its weight and power level I do t know if I would promote as a first bike. That depends on the size and weight of the rider and there ability to learn to ride quickly. I’m 76 and have ridden since late fifties and have ridden many motorcycles. I also have a CTX1300A . I just love the V4s. I’m too old for sport bikes . The Magna has super low speed handling so that is good for a new rider. I’ve had mine on the Dragon twice and loved it. I’ve made it my own with new paint, saddle, bags, polished the wheels and forks. Installed the Dave Dodge jet kit in the carbs, progressive fork springs and rear shocks. Also a stainless steel brake hose as well. It now has 54,000 miles on it and purrs like a kitten. I do my own work. Also make sure you check the secondary air filter behind the left chrome faux air filter cover. It can crumble and allow parts of the filter to be sucked up into the carbs. Great video. I love the sound the V4 makes.
I like all kinds of bikes, but Japanese bikes are made the best. No, they don't do everything the best but reliability hands down nothing can touch them. Not to mention not overpriced!
I have a 2010 Cross Country that I bought in 2015. I still love this bike but who doesn't want a better bike😂 I've been on the fence about trading it in on a Challenger since they came out. I guess I will keep waiting to see if Polaris can work out these gremlins first.
Indian has a fix for the battery drain, you need to go to dealership and they will flash the fix. Challenger Recall - Service Bulletin I-24-08 The reason for this notice: Indian Motorcycle has determined that your model year 2020-2024 Challenger, 2022-2024 Pursuit, or 2024 Chief motorcycle(s) may encounter a scenario in which the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) or Wireless Control Module (WCM) may not fully power off, resulting in unnecessary current draw from the battery. This may lead to decreased battery performance.
You are correct! That bulletin was released a week after I uploaded this video. The bike has had the software updated and now just keeping an eye on it to see if it truly made a difference. Will be updating soon!
@@SethMichael Hi Seth. Considering a new Pursuit. You experience is certainly influencing my decision. What has been the outcome of Service Bulletin I-24-08 on your battery?
I'm sorry this guy is not rider, just posser. It's more speaking and complaining then riding. He probably doesn't know how to change oil which is simplest task on bike. He bought big touring bike to seat in garage and make complaining video. I have Chieftain with my 64k miles on it, never complained or had a "issue" but I ride that bike and maintain by myself, my bikes doesn't seats in garage and I'm not making funny complaining videos.
I have a 2022. My battery is good for 7 days only. Unless it's winter, then I put it on a charger for a few before I start it. I have a midpipe. I had to have a tune from Lloyds.
The bike isn’t seeing enough voltage to power everything properly, likely a bad battery or stator/charging system. I know some of these had bad new batteries. I have seen issues like this before. Or a bad wire not sending voltage properly or shorting. Could also be a bad ground.
The dealer didn’t make the bike, Polaris did. Both share the blame. I know four guys who have traded their Harley’s for Indians. All four have since gone back to Harley. They all had the same issues; bad fit and finish, corrosion, electrical bugs and unreliable powertrains. Not to mention poor dealership support. Think twice before you buy a Polaris. Oh, and these four guys don’t know each other. So if anyone thinks these guys got together to conspire against Polaris, that’s not the case.
I am a Harley guy. Tried an Indian in 2018. I ride cross country and was concerned about support. The bike started to have electrical issues after about a year. The dealer couldn’t find the issue. Back to Harley in 2020. At least there is usually a dealer I can get to if there is an issue.
I own a pursuit and was a big fan. 23 thou miles in six months. They have a bad casting in the front wheel. I hit small pothole and bent / cracked rim. On back order for two months with no definite date and no recall. I regret my decision to buy an indian
I agree with some of it. I was getting overheating issues with mine and they kept trying to give the bike back to me since they said they couldn’t get the code to come back on. They wouldn’t even try to fix the problem unless they could get the code and send it to Polaris to tell them what to change. I kept arguing with them showing them pictures of it overheating and the codes. The codes on this bike are plentiful and seem to purge themselves. So that’s annoying. The days of a mechanic being a mechanic and diagnosing and fixing a problem are gone. It took them over a week to fix the problem and they cost me a day on a trip I’d planned. Also, the diagnoses was wrong. The lights coming back on. I’m finding I’m a better mechanic as I found the problem was with my fan wire and just replaced it myself. It’s frustrating as I shouldn’t have to pay a penny with this thing under warranty, but at the same time if I want to ride the bike in a timely manner I’m almost better off diy. Btw- the feature of it showing me where it rides has been helpful. The mechanics kept saying they were taking it on 1 hour rides trying to get the overheat light to come on. They were full of crap, the ride app showed 1 less then 20min ride and one 10 minute ride the entire week they had it. So in a week of holding it the bike mostly sat in the back. The people at the dealership are nice. I feel like it’s not entirely their fault as Polaris may tie their hands. These bikes have so many electronics that they seem to have their own gremlins. The “fix” for the power draw may have issues as well as people on fb are reporting getting lights post vcm flash. I also get random codes sometimes and keep being told it’s because I don’t have the bike on a tender, which I do. They blame power spikes and batteries and don’t bother actually looking at the bike. I often think becoming a certified Indian mechanic must be easy. Lie about the time spent on the bike, only work on it if the code shows up, don’t diagnose, let a “team” of corporate people look at the software and tell you what to change. Charge $120 an hour for labor. Their service manuals are very well written so a monkey could do the work. That being said, I love the bike. It rides fantastic. I’ve owned a scout for a decade and I’ve only ever had a coolant temp sensor die on it in over 25k miles. I like the rides, I just wish service side was faster or they spent more time actually working on problems instead of trying to make codes show up to send to the mothership. In my case the bike had already overheated once, why do you need to overheat it again and risk a head gasket blow out to try and fix it? Seems dumb. Also, I’d advise anyone buying a challenger or a pursuit to buy used. I picked one up used for half the price of new and it was only 3 years old. For some reason these bikes don’t hold resale value. My scouts value is still closer to what I paid for it.
Had my eye on a Challenger for a while. Rode my current bike (FZ-10) to and Indian dealer today here in PA. They did mention the new software update which takes care of the battery draw. I test rode one to confirm the rumors of the bike being fantastic. I'll be ordering the Dark Horse Black Smoke this coming week as they don't have it in stock. I also got some pricing on a Dark Horse Pursuit as they have that bike in stock. I'm having trouble justifying the $4800 more it costs though over the Challenger. Sorry to hear about your issues but it does sound like your dealer has wasted a alot of your time and should have given you much better service after the sale. Hopefully the software update makes you love the bike again. Be safe
I have a 22 and getting ready to change out the battery. It couldn't sit more that a few weeks without running the battery down. Now its down to a few days. My theory is that the multiple computers are power hungry. I am not sure the computer is not active sitting connected to the wifi. I love the bike. I will keep feeding it batteries every few years. Not a problem. I recommend the TAB crossover. I use OE mufflers with the TAB and they sound fantastic.
Not a Trickle charger .. but a battery maintainer. I keep my battery maintainer on all the time and I keep it on the concrete floor. I have had a battery Maintainer on my Yamaha Snowmobile since 2006 and I have the original battery in it still. Although it's best to keep a battery maintainer on. Your Battery should still start you bike after sitting for 30 days, maybe even 90 days. Any Modern Motorycle with all of the Electronics can have issues.. It could be one in 50 or 1 in 500. I wondered about Key Fob Issues too ..
Man, bike thefts really suck, it's one of the major factors in me looking at getting a cruiser instead. Two dudes probably won't steal a 800lb bike that's only worth $1k in parts
i have one, but as a parent id want the kid to upgrade thru other bikes before id suggest as a first bike.while not sportbikes, there quick enough to get yourself into a bad situation before you realize, then have to pay the consequences.actually, they could use better brakes from the factory.the 1st gens had twin disc fronts.this should've also.
