The Neck is in Charlestown not Boston. Charlestown at that time was an independent township and was actually a great deal larger than the 1 square mile that the neighborhood comprises today. British ships in the harbor shelled it to keep relief forces out during the battle of Bunker Hill, and Gen. John Stark and his Green Mountain Boys were the only unit brave enough to dare the bombardment. Taking up position on the colonial Left along the banks of the Mystic river, at the line of Fence and rail.
Post-revolutionary Mexico was leftist, but it was NEVER sympathetic to communism. Mexico would have never allowed an invasion through its territory, or would have fought it.
The only plans that where looked at was in world war 1 Germany had a plan to invade through Boston, and after World War 1 Canada and US planned to invade each other, and world war 2 Nazi germany sent spy’s to bomb NYC but backed out and turn themselves into the FBI and was a secret for a long time
Store clerk: “they’re looking for you” Wolverines: “who?” Store clerk: “The KGB” KGB Agent: *stares directly at the wolverines and store clerk from a balcony in broad daylight with no obstructed vision. Does nothing.* Wolverines: *proceed to leave the store and wander freely around town with nobody so much as stopping them to ask for identification* Totally realistic. About as realistic as high school kids still showing up at school and talking about a big upcoming football game after their country was just nuked by the Soviets.
It's funny that people now call it "cold war paranoia" but the ussr really did think about landing troops on the us, they had 100s of spy masters that they snuck in through canada. They did the same thing with crimean, they spent years sneezing kgb officers into the country taking jobs in the police, army, school, hospitals, banks, all over so when troops turned up half their job was already done.
Liked first halve of the video, liked the little history lesson. You lost me the second halve. To heavy to use as a tool or to go hicking? 1 kilo is to much to carry around? Hit the gym! Also no clean cuts? Sharpening the edge most of the times helps with this problem 😅
It's interesting to contrast how much is the same between 1984 and 2024. Russia is still paranoid and aggressive. Some of the former Warsaw Pact countries like Poland and the Baltic states have now joined NATO and are staunchly anti-Russian. China is now probably more likely to join Russia although they have danced the middle line so far.
Military invasion of the USA is well nigh impossible. But you did touch on a good point, the Russians knew a physical military invasion was not possible, but they recognized that the destabilization of the USA through social means was the best way to render the USA ineffectual to resisting outside attacks. I.E. attack from within. Foster the rot, that is what concerns some of us now.
Also the then German Empire also had war plans to invade the US. Starting in 1898 to 1916. The plan went through three updates. At that time Germany had the second largest navy in the world.
One of the worst movies ever. The tensions with the USSR as well as Cuba, Iran and Nicaragua was the result of the Reagan administration’s deliberate provocations. The late seventies and early eighties were unusual in that younger people rather than being politically left were conservative. For this reason, after the movie “Red Dawn” came out they were called the “Red Dawn Generation.” The eighties could best be defined as the dumbing down of America.
Well done. I did the same research for myself when I was playing mirage. I think ubisoft missed a big opportunity to add a more detailed experience through this action packed time period. You can see it was initially meant to be dlc. Also, I too was confused with the dating. I came to the conclusion the game ends around 867 or 8. Wasif died in 867, and I cannot have such an important figures death misplaced. There was a mob with you when you attack the garrison. Another thing to add is, if you listen to citizens talk around the city, they mention a battle happening there. The evidence is further strengthened by the hole in the wall where al-mutazz's forces broke through. Hope you do before and after (playthrough) history videos on the real history of shadows. Awesome job, man!
Russians dont have the manpower and their mercenaries in Mexico and Cuba will get wiped out by nukes. Invasion is impossible. Only the Hawaiian Islands might be plausible since it is isolated in the center of the pacific but the invaders will all have to arrive by ship which could be very risky for them since the islands are defended by attack subs.
My wife and I saw it when it came out. We thought it sucked. The premise was cool, but the acting and script totally sucked. But now I watch it for fun. My son and his friends laughed at it too.
Same situation of being born after the original and not having nostalgia for it, but honestly this video has me looking back at the original much more favorably than I did before. I find it funny that the 2012 remake changed the antagonists from China to North Korea because if I'm remembering correctly the original Homefront game did the same and for similar reasons.
Soviet Russia was destined to fail. They based their government on the writings of Karl Marx. The guy was a loser. He succeeded at nothing and spent his entire life begging for money from others. His entire theory was based around the idea that being strong and a winner is a bad thing. America and capitalism are based around winning and winners. That's why the Soviet Union collapsed. How can a country that believes that making money is a bad thing succeed against a country that is all about making money. You need money to win wars. The world is full of resentful losers and that's why Marxism has its adherents to this day. But is so intellectually dishonest. Look at surplus value. Yes, I am making a profit off your labor you twat. Did you build the factory? Did you come up with the product? Are you taking responsibility for production. No. You just clock in, do your specific task and then clock out and go home. You think Elon Musk just quits at 5 O'clock every day after an eight hour shift? No. The man spends almost all his time working and he's the one who had to deal with the nightmare of creating a electric vehicle production facility. Inventing the electric car is the easy part. Putting it into production is a nightmare. We are not all equal.
Well pointed out. This is a trademark of every authoritarian looser and tin pot dictator : blaming others and never admiting guilt. USA and the Western world never had to openly engage the USSR to defeat it. They made them spend themselves to collapse.
Stay focused. We were voting for the Biden/Harris ticket already. She's more than qualified. Let's keep our enthusiasm and vote against project 2025!💙🇺🇸🌸
@@themidnightzone172 it'll be very interesting to see if the super PAC that controls the majority of the dnc's money releases it to Harris? This might be the first DNC I'll actually watch most of. Although I already know it's going to be utter chaos
I was 3 years old in 1968. Dude, you have no idea what is about to happen. But, when it happens, you'll thank God he sent Trump. By the way, it's supposed to be that way.
Also, DNC in Chicago. Historically bad scene. Hope we don't have that again. between people's feelings about Israel/Hama-Ukraine/Russia (Vietnam in 68) and the political unrest, could make for a tough time in Chicago, just like 68
The options pool was quite a bit larger then vs now. Democrats had 4 years to figure out a backup plan, and are scrambling for an option 4 months before the election
Stop taking it so seriously. It’s a movie made for fun. “It’s pretty cringe” ……really? It’s 40 years old. Wow “Fears of invasion” Nobody who lived in America at the time believed America was in danger of invasion. - The movie is nothing more than an exercise in imagination. Someone just said “ Hey, I wonder what it would look like if that happened here?” You’re a moron.
