Who would win in a fight? Chris Hemsworth or Charlie Sheen? It’s no secret which Red Dawn is better, but have you ever wondered which is more realistic? Who was a bigger threat, the Soviets or North Korea? And could the US actually be invaded or fight off an enemy army? Check out my newest video to find out the answers to these pressing questions, on my channel at history at its finest.

Is this even a question? The remake changing the enemy from China to North Korea was a giant slap in the face to everything that Red Dawn was supposed to stand for

They chickened out changing it from China to North Korea to avoid offending China, and for all it's campiness, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 was the true remake of Red Dawn,

As someone that was born years after the first one was made and has seen both, 100% the original was better.

Same situation of being born after the original and not having nostalgia for it, but honestly this video has me looking back at the original much more favorably than I did before. I find it funny that the 2012 remake changed the antagonists from China to North Korea because if I'm remembering correctly the original Homefront game did the same and for similar reasons.

The original cut of the Red Dawn remake is lost media with no demand. The studio paid over a million dollars to change China to North Korea.

The US not noticing 3 Army Groups in Siberia or 60 Soviet divisions in Mexico is a bit hard to imagine. More likely the government higher ups did know but either thought it was a bluff to secure food aid or thought a diplomatic solution could be found. With regards to why the US didn't nuke the Soviets, Tanner never says they didn't, he said "Not anymore" so I imagine it was a much more limited strike, Moscow, Vladivostok, Irkutsk and Yakutsk to make the Trans-Siberian Railway unusable plus a smattering of other targets that weaken the USSR but don't destroy it or its ability to wage war outright. My own personal guess is that the Soviet first strike took out about 80% of the US nuclear arsenal, with the rest of America's warheads being held in reserve to deter further strikes and as negotiating leverage should the situation on the frontline deteriorate further, especially considering the Soviet's own arsenal is likely nearing depletion between the North American strikes, US retaliation on nuclear targets, and having to basically irradiate the North China Plain to prevent invasion because all the ground troops were either in North America or stuck in European Russia because of American strikes to cut off the logistic route supporting the Alaskan invasion.

North Korea not possible but the prc maybe. Once again the original is silly but leagues better than the remake. I wonder will you do the Homefront games it similar to the red dawn and the had one of the people who was involved with the original.

Why didn't they just use Russia? Was it made before 2014? Oh, 2012. Meh. They could have picked anyone else.

2nd Amendment is the biggest problem. Even if 95% of gun owners have no idea how to handle a gun, just having every person being a possible armed combatant, would massivly drain morale
