Thank you for sharing your stand on the internship matter. I'm currently studying a bachellor in Digital Graphic Design, I graduate next year, and I wasn't sure if to take an internship. But now I want to give it a try after hearing your take. 😊
So, would you say that for an aspiring graphic designer, the logical step would be to first work in an agency to learn the craft and the small details that they don't teach in school and after that to start their own freelance business? I suppose freelancing is not for everyone, especially the looking for your own clients part, but I could see how this will become the next "employment" for creatives and programmers in the next few years.
In my personal opinion, an internship or a role in an agency (even if it’s for 6 months) really benefits you in your career 😃 Personally, it makes the transition into freelance much easier as you are more informed in all aspects of running your own business/agency
This is very Heartwarming and very wonderful and very beautiful and very adorable and this brings back such wonderful memories of when I use to be a 90s kid and an early 2000s kid and I am a new subscriber as well:).
In terms of detail… less is more! I also create a simple brand mark version of their logo for each of my clients so they can use that on small screens (such as profile pictures etc..)
Hi! I do a mix of things to create mockups. The 2 ways I usually use is 1. I download high quality mockups from Envato Elements. I have a subscription and you can check them out here: 1.envato.market/nLPZ3x 2. I'll download copyright free images and put them into Photoshop. I'll then edit and retouch the photos and place my designs into Photoshop to create realistic mockups or product photos. In my latest video about web design (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-40AjABubfsw.htmlsi=AEok08t37HYyPCTD), I show how I do this in Photoshop
I'd love more videos on color. How to make inclusive color palette, color psychology etc. Basically, choosing color according to different target audiences, if possible.
choosing color scheme for any brand is a time-consuming task and you have to work over many combinations as well as permutations to come out with a working color scheme. This is a great help for any beginner designers as well as for experienced one.
Very helpful, thanks. Yea, going full time straight from college took me a lot longer than 4 months to get used to. Ten years later of full time CAD and graphic design and i'm ready to transition to free lance work simply due to my cap in pay and un flexible schedule. If you have any advice on making the switch to a substantial free lance, that would be helpful. I run a side business selling products online but have never been able to make the full leap from employed to free lance. I've dabbled in free lance before and I believe your points on boundaries is really important. My first few clients either didn't pay, made constant changes and additions, or were very easy to please. With my fishing company I have 4+ ways to contact me. I think that is very important to only accept enquiries from a contact form or email as you mentioned since responding to so many different sources can get silly. Thanks again for all the help.
I love hearing stories like this! I'm so glad you resonated with my experiences too. When I first started freelancing, I managed to secure a 3 month fixed retainer package (20 hours) with an advertising agency. This helped get my feet off the ground. Also posting on RU-vid has helped me find a lot of international clients. Posting your work for potential clients to see is so important.
The hardest part is to research and design for the target audience. If i have to give weightage i'd give 60% of time and in effort in research and generate ideas and 40% on designing.

Omg this as helped me so much! To be able to find this video & advice in the beginning of college made me just figure out my life, my goals have been lined up and straighten for a great success for my family. thank you.
Do you recommend majoring in graphic design, the arts, or being undecided our first year in 49ers college? I’m pretty interested in learning graphic design but I’m not definitely sure if it’s what I wanna do. Also what if we feel like sometimes we aren’t artistic/imaginative enough. For example, I’m in yearbook and my teacher is saying she thinks we need a more creative approach to the academic pages but I’ve never been able to think of something new first that
I'm kind of new to Illustrator I was wondering, when I say 'create outlines', my font turns white with black strokes. Can someone help me what am I doing wrong here?
