This is the third rewatch I’ve done. It has become one of my comfort shows. I really am surprised none of the TV networks have picked this up, the production value and effort put in is amazing. I’m planning to start doing sections of the Bib as my fitness improves.

Can you please post a video about what you used on your trek. Food, camping gear, hiking gear, etc. I watched the whole series and left a like on every video :)

I've just watched through the whole series. I wish more people would have left likes on your videos as they were great. I'm wondering if you could please do a video on your pack list, what you used and how you found the items for usefulnes or things you might change?

Thank you so much for this video..... I cried a lot watching what you went through good and bad and the stresses and emotions of being alone etc..... I plan on doing Perth to Albany when my fitness levels are better as Iam 55 and have emphysema..... 😢 But I want to prove to myself that I can do this trek..... Just need to learn the basics of trekking etc..... I need to get alone with God and nature and rediscover myself and who I really am..... God bless you in your future adventures trekking..... Going to miss seeing and hearing you now..... 😢😢😢 Loved every minute of it..... Take care. Jason from Perth

Yes, even in ideal conditions it's a challenge. It needs to either be dry or covered in snow, but for us it was a deep, boggy swamp. The conditions were too severe to cover the distances planned.

Until I became a long distance hiker I never thought I would be able to watch one video, never mind a series on the subject. I have watched plenty in my time now and I rate this series the best I have seen. Everyone involved clearly put a lot of effort into the series and it shows. The drama, tedium, elation, lows and highs, were all captured in a most natural way that articulate clearly what a long distance hike is really like. Special shout out to the cinematography, the editing, and my favourite, the music, which must have been selected with great care. I just loved everything about this series and just want to say thanks for giving me so much joy in my downtime as I prepare for the next big hike.

Hi Caroline, great to see you on another Oz hike! I haven't watched the rest of this trail's vids to see what you thought of this trail yet, but I have to say The Hume and Hovell is my LEAST favorite backpacking trail in Australia. Wait, strike that. I REALLY hated this trail! It started nice enough, but then it just became a series of dreary, pointless, boring road walks. For reference, and just in case someone reading this comment is looking for some hiking ideas for Australia, here is the Australian trails part of my CV, from favorite to a bit less favorite. Bibbulmun, Larapinta, The Great North Walk, The Great South West Walk, Six Foot Track, Cape to Cape. The H&H Walk is all alone on my "Don't waste your time on this trail list".

@GreatWalksoftheWorld
@GreatWalksoftheWorld Год назад
Thank you! And yes it was soooo heavy. Yeah anything over 20km starts to get super tough - it's mainly all the hours in a day spent carrying a heavy load! But what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger, right?!
@thelongwaysbetter
@thelongwaysbetter Год назад
Caroline might have been wiped out by this day but it looks like it picked up in scenic quality at least. Some of those earlier days with the bleak logging and road walking did not make the Hume and Hovell look like a very interesting walk at all (had a bit of a laugh at how dispiriting it must've been to arrive at that shelter destroyed by fallen trees), but this shows a lot more promise. Looking forward to seeing weeks 2 and 3 when they are out!

WOO! Just yesterday I was rewatching your Kiandra to Kosciuszko videos as I prepare for my own attempt this Summer (fire gods willing) and was lamenting a lack of new Great Walks of the World videos. I thought the worst when I realised your website was gone too, so I'm very glad to see this episode. I am a repeat viewer of your Bibb series (to me, the gold standard for RU-vid hiking series) and y'all were a big inspiration for my own switch from blogging to video making on RU-vid! Glad to see you back!

Thanks for this inspirational journey, I am new to hiking and really want to complete the Bibblumun, would you share where you posted things to, I see you collect packages in each town… hiw did you know how much to send, lol there is alot of planning for a newbie
@GreatWalksoftheWorld
@GreatWalksoftheWorld Год назад
Yes, walk the track. It's amazing and anyone can do it. We posted to our pre-booked accommodation, and contacted them as a courtesy. You can also send to some visitors centres. How much to send depends on what type of food you eat and how much you plan to buy in town (some towns have more than others, while some have nothing), and how many days each section will take. It does take a fair bit of planning to be prepared. Others just wing it. Best advice is to contact the Bibbulmun track foundation for their advice, or jump on the facebook pages.

Nicely done. I enjoyed your Bibb series. The "why long distance hiking" is a discussion that pops up with some frequency and it's not a simple question to answer well. So many aspects to it.
@GreatWalksoftheWorld

The reason can be very different for everyone and hard to explain. I think there's a saying that goes: if you need to explain why you do it then they won't understand the answer.
