A few years ago, we joined a film crew making a documentary in Nepal about the impoverished Kulung people, subsistence farmers whose main source of income was working in the Everest tourist region as porters, cooks and cleaners. We met some beautiful, welcoming people who, despite their hardships were always smiling.
A year later, while walking the Bibbulmun Track track we met an incredible human called Mark - who was just as surprised as us to meet a fellow westerner who both knew about the Kulung and had been there.
Mark has been working closely with the mountain villagers of Chheskam and Waku since 2017. In association with the Australian Himalayan Foundation, Mark has been providing child protection training, medical equipment supplies and raising funds for much needed medical care, particularly focusing on child and maternal health.
Stuck in WA during the Covid pandemic and with these villages critically short on supplies and support, Mark is riding the Munda Biddi Trail to raise funds for urgent assistance in providing much needed care.
Join us in supporting Mark in bringing essential nursing care, safe birthing services, and immunisation to these highly vulnerable mothers and babies.
