What about if you consider pensions? Because if I pay myself a salary through PAYE, I get government tax relief and I also get to claim employers contribution off corporation tax. If I just paid more into my pension myself from my dividend, would I lose out on those government and corp tax benefits?

It's not that hard, at least research see if you can get a charger where you live, see if there are charges near your work, a lot of us figure it out, it's not rocket surgery. The L2 charging I use near work occasionally what is as cheap as home charging

EVs are great in the USA. Many people here pull their car in their car garage &let it charge overnight. Got over 100k miles on my Volt.

no mention of the insurance being 4 or 5 times higher, no mention of having to replace the batteries or scrap the car due to just a knock, no mention of them bursting into flames? so which company is paying you to push EVs oh and the fact that they are not green based on the pollution from building them and charging them.

The reality of living with an ICE that nobody talks about !! ICE Vehicle Owners at Risk of LUNG CANCER that is right LUNG CANCER from tail pipe emissions. I know what you are saying "it won't happen to ME" but if it does it's to late. I am not worried about a EV fires and all that CRAP the Media will lead you to believe because that's what insurance is for but insurance can't fix your health If you can't afford car insurance you can't afford to run a car it's that SIMPLE

Good and fair video. Here on Norway, my experience with the range drop is a lot more severe than in the UK. In the ultra cold last winter, I experienced range drops to below 50% advertised range. Heating, reduced battery performance, and ice corrugated roads took their toll. Oddly enough, my gasoline hybrid Volvo faced just about a 5%-7% increased fuel consumption. The fact that IC-engines (in steady state) are more efficient in cold air and that you can just dump the engine heat into the passenger compartment makes them really ideal for winter use.

Iam retired just starting driving an EV at the age of 75.I am one of these drivers down to 30% I would be looking to charge. All my Petrol and Diesel cars I can count the times of having a tank less than half full.We are lucky and have a home charger and yes it is so convenient. The car itself to drive is on a different level.Easy relaxing and so safe, if I need to pull up quick. These EV motors are instant no lag like a gearbox.I feel spoiled now going for a drive.

Something that is overlooked time and time again by reviewers of EV's is that many people in this fair country of ours do not have off-street parking and therefore would not be able to charge an EV at home cheaply. This immediately makes owning one very expensive, if you then add to this the ridiculous asking price of even the cheaper Chinese brands, and the ongoing horrible depreciation you are sure to suffer should you be foolish enough to buy, you realise that sticking with your petrol or diesel car is the sensible option. I did however quite enjoy your video, well done!

Public charging in most countries like UK, Canada, USA are all fu@cked up, they should look at China's charging infrastructure, one app, very easy, very simple, WeChat, i have rented an EV in China, and it was very easy, and chargers are at every gas stop , all work, and DC power source is not split between the chargers, so if the charger has two connectors, both work at full charge., and on street parking is same, we need to get our act together.

Don’t forget you are a rich person compared to the average UK citizen. Most people only have one shared car or two cheap ones at best. The general view from many motoring experts is that for the average working person is is not yet a good deal, but who knows it may be in the future if costs come down and public chargers are more available. Taxes on these EVs will also have to go up too in the future, for there is no way the government can stand to lose all the revenue they get now from ICE vehicles!

Certainly public chargers cost much nearer petrol or diesel. But home charging works out long term at 1.6p/mile!!! My first long journey (with preparation which I'll use again) was relatively easy and cost me 55p/kW (16p/mile going quite fast)

I had my tesla for a while now. It is a great car. However, it is not for everyone. Don't buy an EV if 1) you don't have your own garage or a place where you can charge it overnight. 2) if the car is intended to be used for longer than 100 miles one way very often. 3) if you live in extreme cold area (battery range and performance drops like a rock), 4) if you intend to do a lot of cross country road trip, particularly if you intend to go to very remote deserts or forest - you won't find a supercharger there. Lastly dont' buy an EV if it is not a Tesla. So far the only EV worth the money is indeed Tesla. Better yet, go get an used Tesla that is 2 years old with less than 20k miles on it. You ended up paying 30 to 40% less than brand new.

9p per kilowatt hour nine months ago? You haven't done your math properly. 9 months ago we were paying 31 pence per kilowatt.. That's more than triple what you think you paid. That means 33£ to fill it up. Which is about half price for a similarly sized petrol car. If add the public charging that people apartment blocks need to use. Then it's worse than a petrol
