I enjoy your paddle reviews and I appreciate your insight. Please consider shipping to the continental United States! I was gonna order one and no go on shipping to Washington State! Bummer
Great video!! I just have two questions -Do you prefer the R1 or R3? -also if you had to chose would you pick the B&B Filth or the Ronbus Pulsar Fx series?
Thank you! I really don’t know which shape I prefer, I’m always going back and forth but probably the R1 by a bit. Between the Filth and the Pulsar, I like the Pulsar’s adaptive playability a little more.
the more reviews i hear about this the more i want it. but i want the shapeshifter & j2k too, lol) im so glad they shored up the issue with the filth's smaller sweet spot. it almost sounds like it plays power and control like an elongated gen 1 with perimeter weights (ie more plowthough power while retaining the plush, muted control) but gives you pop on punches.
took me a while to like it. At first, the handle was the main source of frustration. I made some modifications and not it's my main. The only issue is during an indoor singles game, the face chipped. if you could do a review on the shapeshifter that would be amazing. awaiting mine in the mail
for a tennis player's understanding, when you describe this paddle as muted, would you describe that feeling to be similar to what a prince O-port/EXO 3 racquet feels like compared to a standard style tennis racquet design?
I had the same issue with my Shogun grip. I took the stock grip off and put on 2 Bodhi overgrips thightly and it opened the paddle back up similar to the Loco and FatBoy grips. I highly recommend removing the stock grip as it will help it feel more round vs rectangle!
@@pharm30 Gotcha, this is one you will easily be able to sell to someone else. The FatBoy is great if you end up looking at it when it releases in July!
I think you’re going to like the crispness of the Fat Boy. And it swings below its weight. I’ve blistered some overheads way beyond my normal abilities. When I’m too tense I go back to the Shogun.
Would you want to do a video on grips...overgrips, replacement grips, dry vs tacky, which brand has the best grips, which grips are best in different conditions. Etc....I'm just throwing out ideas lol. Great video as always!
Oops. I just got off the court with my Shogun to which I added 29 g of Slyce endcap and 3 g of lead tape at 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock. The static weight was obviously heavier than I’m used to but the paddle actually felt lighter and very powerful. Who knows what paddles will benefit from this new set up. Custom weighting might be an interesting future video. Thanks again for bringing an intelligent voice to this subject.
Once again, another great review from you, Luca! Re: paddle shape, do you think it is intentional, qc, or simply a different mold/manufacturer? iirc, the swing weight of the Filth is kind of high too.
Thank you very much! I think this one is intentional. It’s just so obviously not the shape of the Filth so I would guess they actively looked to create a new mold.
Hi Luca, quick question, is J2K better option than Ruby? I have actually Apes Energy S with lead tape like you recommended in one or your RU-vid videos, You think I can feel difference and worth the change? Also I have Hyperion c2 I would like read your comments. Thanks
The J2K and Ruby are both fantastic and it's really just a matter of personal preference. I find both have better feel than the PLES because they're full Kevlar.
Luca the 🐐 back at it again with the best content on RU-vid. Love that you always specify ball feel which is so important. Curious which paddle (besides the original nova’s) is your favorite for true ball feel?
I recently switched from Selkirk vanguard control Invicta 16mm Midweight to Joola Scorpeus 16mm. A big difference in surface grit. Joola is way more gritty than Selkirk. My game has improved tremendously in last one month. Blocks resets and drops are amazing. Loving it
OM Aero¹ is designed to do exactly that. Has an independent internal tennis frame the carbon face flexes off. Plays as close to a string bed as you can get with a solid face.
