This is by far one of the best shows of musicality I have ever seen in my life. I rank this up there with Oetomo's performance of Over the Rainbow and Miroslav's of Odessa. You make this piece sound incredibly beautiful and I come back to listen to it quite a lot. Thank you.
I cant wait for when my percussion direct gets me and the other 3 players together to start learning this. I got to hear a full ensemble version at the tmea convention. It was amazing.
This was just fantastic. One question. The crystal glasses have me really confused- how did the pitch bends work for that? The only way I know of to alter the pitch is to change the level of the liquid in the glass. It's usually water, of course-was it vodka here? Lol Seriously though, how was that done? Because I'd swear you can't do what I'm hearing, but you obviously did and it breaks my brain.
@@KyleNally When we did it, we tipped the glasses as we created the pitch. It changed it slightly but even Dr. Perez said it wasn't a HUGE deal. More for effect.
love this piece. I first experienced it in Ojai when John Adams directed. Stage left and right was stacked with giant speakers towering overhead. Fantastic!!
The Siciliana sounds lovely on the marimba - this wonderful Bach piece really translates well to an entirely different instrument - beautifully played!
I wish this lecture was given a year ago :((( I did my entire 4000 word extended essay on Reich's "Mallet Quartet", this would have been SO helpful :((((((
