I got mine today, black 2.2 mk2 127k miles. My mum has a 1.6 4th gen which I really liked, but the 2.2 on this is enthusiast level fun. 4x4 is nuts and you can even hear it (the turbo) spool up and feel it kick in. You can also somewhat control your fuel economy with the helpful gauge which is pretty helpful in a car as fun as this. Comes with a fridge and a free picnic table, 10/10 would recommend
Hi, the gen 2 and gen 3 both have exactly the same all wheel drive (RT AWD). The gen 2 has the better ground clearance. I felt better off-road in the gen 2. But it must be said that the CR-V is only suitable for lighter terrain. It has no differential lock, no reduction gearbox and no solid axles either.
@@OutOfTheWay4x4 thankyou, response understand. At this stage a Subaru or even a VW Tiguan looks like a stronger offroader. I already have a solid axled 4x4 but some ability would be good.
@mechtechau Yes, the VW 4motion has permanent all-wheel drive and the Subaru has Symmetrical AWD, which is unmatched in the family SUV category. The Subaru Forester also has a reduction gearbox (manual only). But on the other hand, these are not off-road vehicles..and for regular lighter terrain, the CRV is fine too. Another thing is that in terms of reliability, Honda CR-V gen 2 and 3 has no competition.
Yes..I still have the CRV and will still be shooting videos with it. But the Discovery 2 Td5 has been a long time dream of mine. There will still be some work and investment on the Discovery before it is in perfect condition. But otherwise it's a nice and well preserved car.
Had the Subaru Forester as our primery car and the CRV as the wifes secondary car. The Forester was by far the nicer car to drive and had superior offroad capability. A bit smaller cargo wise. Traded it in after 350k for a truck. After 20 years we still have the CRV with 240k and going strong. Wife loves it.
Moc díky..No ale nedají se šoupat zadní sedadla a nejde vytvořit tak dlouhý prostor jako v kufru CRV. Určitě pak udělám video, které ukáže i veškerý interiér a funkce.
You keep finding the nicest vehicles!! That's a beautiful "Disco" and I'm loving the sound of the diesel engine! Ingenious mosquito repellant! lol... I have that same table. Thumbs up for the Moka pot!! Great video!
Hi thank you so much 🙂 I agree, specially the Td5 has a wonderful sound.. the mosquito repellent worked but I had about 15 ticks when I returned. I bought the table about 15 years ago in England..
@@OutOfTheWay4x4 I've had my table for that long too. hahaa! If you haven't tried Permethrin spray on your clothes, for ticks, you might really like it. Spray your shoes, socks, and pants (and shirt if you're getting them up there. When the ticks crawl on the treated clothing, they will die and fall off. So they won't ever get to your skin. It works great!
@@austinado16 Yes, I have tick preventative in my kit, but unfortunately I was so lazy I didn't even wear the long pants I had in my car 🤦🏻♂️. I kind of underestimated it.
@@rayal4860 I know about the effectiveness of essential oils. I have some natural tick gel. The problem has been that when I focus on making videos, I forget about everything around me 🙂 But I'd like to incorporate things like insect protection into the content of my videos later on. I plan to expand the channel in the future to include bush craft and survival..
It's hard to say which is better. Each of these cars is completely different. The Subaru has permanent S-AWD and works great off-road. Honda's RT-AWD system, on the other hand, drives only the front axle most of the time and automatically engages the rear axle when the front wheels slip. This system, in turn, is more economical. Off-road, however, the Honda doesn't stand a chance next to the Subaru. I also have several videos of the Subaru Forester on my channel.
Hello. I got a good understanding of the CR-V's driving performance. it is a good feeling! By the way, could you tell me where I can buy the same side window visor as yours? (Internet address) I liked how it was neatly organized. Thank you.

You must be a Honda lover...You got the Rav4 stuck (2:37) did'nt drive with much power. The CRV you made sure to have enough power going forward (11:25), not to get it stuck....
When I drove the Toyota Rav4 through the same spot, the ground was frozen. The car fell through and got stuck in the ice. Normally, the Rav4 would have no problem getting through.
My dad bought a 2005 RAV4 2.0D that had 348k km and that has been abandoned for 3 years, but a full service and maintenance history sheet . It had no battery...simply abandoned. He bought it, restored and repaired it and now he drives it on long trips and/or in winter time. The car is absolutely amazing! Sure, it lacks a lot of features, it's not as comfortable as a newer car, the EGR is a bit problematic with some faults, but what a car... Now he as 365k km with it. And he enjoys it whenever he drives it. And for a permanent 4*4 with a transverse engine layout, it's surprisingly capable on a light off-road setup.
Yes, the old Rav4 is great... Modern Rav4s have nothing to do with it anymore. It's good that your father saved her and now the Rav4 is paying him back. 👍
I had a 2001 RAV 4 and now have a 2005 CRV. The biggest problem with 2nd gen RAV 4's is that they have notorious ecm's that cause hard shifting. Once that's repaired or replaced however, they're both decent all-around vehicles aside from poor fuel economy at about 19-22mpg.
Im currently deciding between both cars. Speaking interior and long trips honda seems to have clear advantage. How would you say they compare while driving though? Looks like that muddy climb was much harder for honda than a toyota, but was it due to poor drivetrain performence (i have read a lot of bad opinions about it) or rather just more difficult conditions
When it comes to interior, comfort and size, the Honda CR-V is a winner. It is supremely comfortable to drive on the road. The problem with the i-vtec is that it is an engine that gets more power only at high revs. And that's not very good off-road. Otherwise, it's an absolutely great and reliable engine! The Toyota Rav4 is smaller, has a smaller wheelbase and permanent all-wheel drive. Some have a reduction gearbox. The Honda CR-V can't compete with that off-road. But as for the video, when I shot the CR-V it was muddy... the Rav4 had frozen dirt. So the CR-V had it harder. But it made it.
@@OutOfTheWay4x4 thanks for the insight. I think i'll go for crv since primary job will be carrying MTBs and skis in the trunk. Greetings from Poland :)
