Also, this is the first video I’ve seen of yours, and I like what you said about being welcoming and not wanting to trample on other peoples rights. Traditional craft with progressive values, is what I think you said. I like that.
Are your dog Border Collies or Aussies? We have a Beagle mix and a Border Collie mix, and they get so relaxed when I spin that they fall asleep listening to my spinning wheel. Also, I love Jente’s channel. She’s hilarious and an amazing story teller.
I love cheingora/dog wool yarn! I bought some from a local spinners group and it made me want to collect all the dog fur I could from my friends husky dog! Better than mohair in my opinion and so sustainable to use something that would go to waste anyway 😊 i would love to hear more about your experience with that during tour de fleece
My dog is not much of a beggar, actually. Whenever she steals food, it always comes as a surprise because she does it so rarely. One time I was taking the lid off a fast food milkshake to give it a stir and I put it too close to her face and she started licking it up! I was so surprised. 😂
Hi,, I love the visuals of your spinning wheel bobbin and ceiling fan reflected in the window , it feels very balanced and calm. Also the dog circles you in her/his own spinning mode.. It’s all about the spin. 😊. Congrats on your TDF skein! Here’s to the next .
18:19 I agree. Yarn rolls not gender roles! As a small beekeeper, the idea of tiny birthday candles with leftover wax is brilliant. What do you do with your slumgum?
@@etienne6916 Oh you can use it to attract swarms! We picked up two swarms this year with slumgum and weren’t trying to. Also I believe you can use it to improve woad production as woad demands nitrogen and slumgum is full of nitrogen. Win win!
@@etienne6916 Melt and lightly coat a few of your supers, at least for Langstroth hives. There’s a few videos on here of people who have tried it. We are on low production for another year until we build a hibernation cooler but it beats buying starters.
Nice work! There are not many videos of using handspun in a knitting machine, very niche. I'm still learning to spin well enough to put my handspun through my machines. Glad to see it is very much possible. Thank you for the inspiration, I shall persist 😊
I have a traditional like yours , and went through a lot of adjustments to improve my spinning experience. In some circumstances I was working very hard to treadle fluently. The leather at the base of the footman was very worn after I had given it some attention things improved a lot. Also making sure the metal rods the treadle is attached to are oiled and free from dust bunnies etc .
Yay Wheel of Time. I love epic fantasy and long books in series. And Sanderson’s books are awesome. I just finished the 4th/last of the Wax and Wayne Mistborn 2nd Era books. Can’t wait for the next storm light archives book to come out. I finished the Wool trilogy a couple of weeks ago. They are great books. I just started another book by the same author, Sand.
Who's your favorite Wheel of Time character? Edited: I completely understand your opinions on the Amazon show. I really enjoyed it because I watched it from the perspective of it being fanfiction. Nothing will ever be a truly faithful adaptation of anything and there's many things that I wouldn't want in a modern adaptation either. Robert Jordan's weird gender politics are not a vibe. But yeah, I watched the show from a fanfiction perspective, so it was just fun. 😊
my favorite I think is Verin :) the most brown of all brown ajahs haha yeah the weird gender politics were deffinatly not a vibe in the books haha x) the thing that bothers me the most about the show is how you seem to need to have read the book to properly understand what is happening, my friend (who never read them) kept asking me why this what is that, etc :/ but it was fun to see that world come to life and have the implied saphic moment become real :)
@@etienne6916 I love Verin. The Brown Ajah is such a vibe. I love research for research's sake. I have only watched the show with people who have read the books, so I didn't realize that it wasn't comprehensible to others. They definitely cram a LOT into each episode.
I love Wheel of Time! Im currently reading it to try and finish it. I only got to book 9 last time I tried. I agree 100% with the descriptions! Robert Jordan put so much effort into the world building and i love it.
ouff yeah you're in the famous slump haha, I found it hard to push through but I managed to and then when you get to The Gathering Storm it gets better again :)
Second comment: oooooh, now that is why you asked if I finish The Way of kings yet :) oh, and I am very eagerly awaiting the third installment of the Kingkiller chronicles. Have you read The Name of the WInd and The Wise Man's Fear yet?
@@etienne6916 I didn't continue after Way fo Kings yet. I got it from a friend, and then found out my local library doesn't have any of Sanderson's books. And I don't feel like buying the entire series... (Same problem with Discworld). But my husband and I are contemplating an e-reader, so maybe in the future!
@@MijnWolden ohhh discworld is very worth it if you have the space haha! Also the series is split in sections so you dont have to buy the entire thing, theres charts online to follow the storylines :)
I see witch hat atelier 👀 Also you mentioned canada day and I was suddenly reminded of this one video that was going around... Over twelve years ago >_> 🎵I know that you wanna be Canadian🎵
New spinner here but so far, BFL is my absolute favorite to spin! It is so soft! Aldo I feel you on the dog hair thing…I now wear all my hand knit socks around the house in a pair of Birkenstocks or other similar sandals! Beautiful socks you made there.
I would have had to weight it beforehand hahaha but total i have 185g of spun yarn and they were about the same size for each colors so around 30g of each colors give or take haha
I really enjoyed watching the video in the background. How the heck does making yarn work! Crazy. And I so agree with your opinion towards the Pride rant. I’m hetero, but I did attend the pride parade in Cologne, Germany once some years ago and I had so much fun! I also am shocked that people are annoyed of pride, thinking that pride people want to force on everyone their „ideology“. Such a nonsense. I wish people would stop distracting from real problems like climate change, wars or closer to home topics, such as pensions, demographic change etc. I feel like the world will face more and more severe problems, therefore people feel like it is easier to just criticize other people that appear to be different, as it is easier than facing the real problems.
What great start for support spindle spinning! And just going without a leader for the first time, courageous! Also, as I showed on the discord: people try selling spinningwheels without a wheel and say it's in "perfect condition"....
Wheel-reselling people: "well the drive wheel turns so it's functional, right?" Also, for tdf, I want to hear about the shrimp. And also tell us what projects you'd want to make with pottery!
Another fun video! I just love how your dogs always interrupt them 😂 If you have any funny stories to tell about your dogs, please share them during tour de fleece! Also if there is any spinning history you know of in your area, I would find that fascinating as well!
Yes to talking about favorite books and music and movies (and whatever other things you like)! What genre is your favorite for books, and what are your favorites in that genre; and what are other favorite books you might have? ❤ Now I'm off to find my support spindle and then probably give up and go back to my favorite drop spindle lol
Haha thanks :) I did study in cinema and video games :) my filming is very rusty though hahaha, Im mostly filming with my phone so i cant play with lenses but im slowly getting back into it :)
The original pride flag did have pink in it! It got taken out (along with turquoise) bc those colours were too costly to dye. So I'm happy to see at least the pink return (◕ᴗ◕✿)
That is a gorgeous dye and stunning spin! Hooray for ‘Flagpole Friends’ turning me on to cool flooftubers! Also pink is original and essential to the rainbow. People who don’t want to see it are antithetical to the spirit of Pride.
