I think touring with halestorm had a great impact on Taylor's vocal style. The following album her singing was next level and just keeps getting better.
Lzzy have naturaly powerful voice with big register. Taylor is limited but still good in her own way. I like both of them + they are good friends. Another my favorites are Dorothi and Dani, the warning ❤
These are old videos, Taylor has matured so much from when she first started at just 16 years old. She is now 30 and her voice is so much deeper and she evolved as a singer and performer. I respect Halestorm but The Pretty Reckless are one of a kind!!!
Someday I really hope I meet these two beautiful rock chicks. They're both still very young and my goal is to open for both these bands as a musician and meet both Lzzy Hale and Taylor Momsen.
I realize this was done for fun but since this, Lzzy took TPR on tour with them a few times in the last 2 years since covid and they are good friends. both great bands and unique singing styles. Both a little reckless in younger years but didnt let it ruin their careers. Although Taylor almost did after Chris Cornell killed himself as she was one of the last people to speak with him before he went to his hotel room. Still enjoy both these talented young ladies, but if i had to pick one it would be Lzzy just because she goes out of her way to take young bands like Lillith Czar and The Warning on tour with her to get them more exposure.
*Not sure if I am buying this honestly....* No offense to either band. 2 bands compared by playing them on a talk show, where they *mime over a backing track!!*
Found this old video, and checked it out, and it actually includes one of the few halestorm songs I like, but there's no comparing these two. On one end, a more traditional female vocalist, with a powerful voice, and can get good grit when necessary, vs a vocalist that, I don't want to say isn't traditional, but has a more naturally bluesy/ soul style vocalist, that I feel invokes a more natural emotional reaction with less effort. Also Taylor cleans her voice up nicely but has a lot more of a natural sounding grit that could easily transcend into heavier music, which can be found in her Soundgarden covers. Really it's just a preference, due to both being great at their respective styles and being very strong vocalists. As more of a metal and grunge fan, I lean taylor, but I don't think there's a wrong answer, and I don't think either is better, but I still say, Taylor's varied pronunciations are done more complexely, which I wouldn't have noticed without professional reactions, where they pointed it out, mentioning her acting career likely being responsible for that. Rock on
Halestorm is definitely the more talented band as far as musicianship, but TPR just has that old school punk vibe that sounds like beautiful noise. In other words, Halestorm are better as far as talent, but what TPR lacks in matching Halestorms musicianship , they more than surpass by encompassing the spirit of good ol "fuck you, and your talent" rock n roll.
I'm fan of both and really admire Lzzy and Taylor, but if I had to choose I think I'd pick Lzzy because she's more versatile than Taylor. Anyway I love how both The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm "evolve" at any album they release and their stage performances are great!
Lizz Hale have more vocal range and more versatile, and more powerfull voice, and Taylor is just the singer, very boring singer. She can't sing this moment no jazz or blues or any genre of music but Lizz can, Lizz vocal range pretty much good to sing pop, rock, metal, jazz, blues, country, chillout and acoustic song. Maybe one of these days when Mrs Momsen try develope her voice, then things are going to changes.
