Taylor and I are actually great friends. Technically you can't really put us in a battle against each other based on vocal style, because we both hold up our own corner of the spectrum. But thanks for the promo guys!!
Can those of us with any appreciation for quality music just agree that these two bands are absolutely incredible? They're two different groups playing two different types of music, but all together blessing the world with their talents.
Comparing Taylor to Courtney Love, other than eye makeup, maybe is insulting! Taylor has a way better voice! To me Taylor has a unique sultry blues style voice that is so rare these days! I like Halestorm, sometimes even love them, including Lizzy, but sometimes she/they sound a bit too poppy or country for my taste. I was totally into Lizzy singing this song!
@@stevenh4875 You apparently haven't listened to much Courtney Love - she had a powerful kick-ass voice in her 90's prime. Her screams were insane - listen to "Violet".
@HinjuRock maybe you can't tell the difference between your ass, and a hole in the ground. or maybe you're just a troll? courtney love is human slag, and couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v-xUwDARVb4.html
I'm a huge Pretty Reckless fan, and just the average fan of Halestorm, but Lzzy is totally incredible in this version of "Familiar Taste Of Poison". Holy shit. My fists are still clenched and my eyes still wet. Damn..... Taylor is great with "Just Tonight" as well, but it's a different kind of appeal with Taylor. Both are great in their own ways.
I like both, for different reasons. Taylor has an AMAZING mezzo (low) voice that Lzzy doesn't have, but Lzzy can hit high notes Taylor can't. Taylor is way sexier and "dark", and has great charisma, but yes, you can see Lzzy has more experience as a frontwoman. Either way, both are good in different ways, so this video makes a useless comparison in my opinion.
I honestly think it's hard to compare them. Lzzy is more pure rock based, with punk influence, whereas Taylor is gothic rock and grunge, from what I can tell. They are both amazing at what they do, they just do different things.
katy :P exactly like both are emotional in their own way. the grunge style of singing is emotion in itself but lzzy hale and taylor have story telling voices
I love Taylor Momsen, but Lzzy Hale is Dragonborn. It's just a dominant, blow-your-balls off kind of voice that no one can really match. She's the gold standard for female rockers.
Went to a Halestorm concert that Lira Ford was opening. I've loved Lita since I was a young man. After Litas set, Halestorm started and she blew me away! What an incredibly powerful voice. Loved them since. I will say that I really like a lot of The Pretty Reckless songs too.
These two are total opposites in rock style. So comparing them is not really apples to apples. Taylor is like the female version of Curt Coban and Lzzy is the Pat Benetar of this Generation.
FungusMossGnosis Everyone knows Curt Coban, from Nivama. He married Cortnee Lov, and produced such songs as "Sells like Ten Sprite" and "Cone as yew or"
They are both incredible singers and performers. The crystal clear notes of Lizzy are really beautiful. But for my taste (just my opinion), the grittiness of Taylors voice almost reminds me of a Hardcore Stevie Nicks/Janis Joplin combination. I prefer a less polished sound, so ... Again, they are BOTH insanely talented, but I like The Pretty Reckless slightly more.
I love the both of them!!! They are gorgeous and their voices are so strong and emotionally charged there is no way I could choose!! Both smokin' hot voices that I could listen to over and over without getting bored with their music so deliberately thought provoking!! KEEP US ROCKIN'!!
Should I redo the first two Halestorm VS The Pretty Reckless videos? In this one, apparently Taylor Momsen's video had something going on, and in the second video, the acoustic live battle, Lzzy Hale was sick... and it obviously reflected on her performance. I won't get rid of these ones if I do. It just means there will be two parts for each category: the two fails, and then two BRAND NEW videos (where hopefully I make the game FAIR). What do you guys think? Should I do it or not?
And I want to apologize for the two crappy videos, again. I was a new fan when I made them, and I obviously didn't know my stuff well. I intended to make the performances fair-from where they do it, to what kind they were performing-and I failed at that. (The third video doesn't seem that bad though... I think. No one's nitpicked it yet.) Last but not the least... should I use recent videos? These ones were from years back, and considering how far the artists have grown now... maybe it does seem like a good idea. I'll try.
Mark Stevens Fuck. I just heard Takes My Life and I'm blown away. I have to use it! Thanks for the suggestion. Lzzy looks so young here, and she already sang so amazing. Do you have any idea how old she was here? I don't think I'll be using Factory Girl though. I love it live, but... I don't think it will be a good side by side video. With Takes My Life, I mean.
tanner self she has a baby voice I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be able to make music like that with it, also just because she makes shitty pop music doesn't mean she doesn't listen to 'real music'. Not defending her cause I literally don't give a fuck about her but your comment is stupid.
I think that Lzzy has a stronger and more pure voice. She admittedly has a "better" voice overall but I also think that Taylor's voice fits her music very very well. They are both talented in different ways
Don't get me wrong I love both of these bands so much, but I think Lzzy showed more emotion in that song and Taylor tried but it's kind of hard with her grunge voice since she smokes and drinks and does drugs. But I also love both of them!
i personally like both bands and enjoy getting to see live performances online whenever possible. idk either of them ever went on talk shows though. when i saw this video said live battle, however, i was expecting it to be the two bands collaborating as doing a live show battle on one song, lol. but that's ok, this was nice, thanks for sharing.
Plamen Dobrev ya know I never really noticed til I read this but your definitely right, even down to the dipping down low during sustained notes and shit
No reason to even choose! Being thankful that we have both! I’m almost 60 years old and I love rock n roll! You know kick ass music when you feel it!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I know it’s an old one but the “familiar taste of poison” performance fucks me up every time I watch it. The build up they created with how they performed it was just epic. Both of these females are incredibly powerful vocalists. Taylor gives me chills when she sings.
As far as over all band performance The Pretty Reckless has it by a long shot because there music structure is fluent and dynamic in the instrumental parts as well the vocal, but the vocal effects is what killed it. Now a hint of effects would have been a lot better, but she flooded it. I think Halestorm's band performance wasn't bad but not good, its the music structure that killed it in this video. They seem to play the same thing over during a long period of time. In the other hand, Lizzy if badass and her voice is just awesome, she is one of my favorite vocalist, well that is alive. My absolute favorite is Dio, small little guy with an explosive voice. I think The Pretty Reckless has it in this vid.
Halestorm - 9.8 ( only because Lzzy didn't play guitar on the performance) The Pretty Reckless 10. Both are great songs. Personally I think Halestorm truly found their voice on the "Strange Case Of...." Album. That is one of those very Rare "Perfect" records from the first to the last track. Just a personal opinion.
If you liked this one, please check out the next video! It features the more recent performances of the artists... OF COVERS! Thumbs up (or down) and make sure to comment what you think. Thanks guys! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dg4f6h4T5w0.html&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z13ie3cwtnr2ybfgv04cizozarbaydn4dug0k
Exactly, I'd probably say Lzzy has a slightly stronger vocal but in terms of listening to their song I couldn't choise one over the other. Just get 'em both in 1 play list. I don't think this version of the song does Taylor's voice justise, if you listen to acoustic or normal version it's much better/
Being a huge fan of both I can't decide who wins. They have different sounds and you can't really compare them because of that. Lzzy has huge amounts of power in higher ranges but Taylor has all the power in the lower ranges and their tones are completely different. There's no winner.
It’s hard to put these two against each other. They’re both phenomenal singers for what they do. Overall I think Lzzy seems a bit better live in general (I personally prefer the studio version of familiar taste of poison as in my opinion Lzzy was over embellishing in this performance) but Taylor does amazing as well ( however she seems to really favor her lower range live so it raises the question of wether she can actually properly hit the higher notes without some aid) and there’s just something about this performance that really resonates with me. There’s also several years in between them so it might also be a question of who has more experience. But as for emotion live, based on these examples I’d have to say Taylor won this time! Sorry Lzzy, I’m a huge fan of both bands though!
I think they both deserve to appreciated, both are talented and pleasantly melodic, It is not an issue here of who is better, they are both awesome, but more so who' s melody's and riffs captivate you more!!!!
I think touring with halestorm had a great impact on Taylor's vocal style. The following album her singing was next level and just keeps getting better.
Lizzy wins for me; i love Taylor, she gives off like sexy vulnerable badass girl feels, but Lizzy gives off so much power in her voice and lyrics and i just love that yk? She just exerts so much power and her songs make me feel so badass when jamming to them.
I love both. But Halestorm is far better at the stage and The Pretty Reckless has better albums. I'm happy to see that both bands have so many dedicated fans around the world.
+jp27fcp YEP!! "Lzzy is....well, Lzzy is Lzzy"!! Agreed!! Lzzy is also a Tigress!! She'll PURRRR atcha, then ripppppp yer face off!! Mz. Hyde LIVES!! LOL
Lzzy has whats known as power house vocals and pretty reckless she has a soulful voice...both excel in their own eras. Now personal opinion...In This Moment would blow BOTH these girls out the universe!
No contest. Lzzy Hale alone is why they're better. She can sing anything. Taylor is just ok, nowhere near the range or the pipes. Plus Halestorm as a band can rip it up. They do a killer cover of Priest's Dissindent Aggressor. And if you haven't guessed by my name I'm huge Priest fan.
I think they both deserve to appreciated, both are unique and pleasantly talentedly melodic, It is not an issue here of who is better but more so who' s melody's and riffs captivate you more!!!!
+Royal Cassie Taylor Momsen is Maria Brinks softcore version? wow... that's gotta be some of the dumbest shit I've heard in a while... their music isn't even remotely the same...
Maria screams, Taylor doesn't, also do remember that Taylor is only 22 and has had a few years of experience whereas itm has been around a lot longer. I listen to both bands a fair amount but I still prefer TPR over ITM
My two favorite female singers. The raw power in Lzzys live performances is incredible. Taylor is really talented as well, I love when they show that raw emotion in their voices and Taylor does that almost as well as Lzzy. She'll get there in time.
Tay's band rocks, it gives me chills. And, of course, she looks damn hot, like a pretty demoness) Lzzy skills are better, but, nevertheless, it's boring for me
I work shows and seen these two hang out with eachother numerous times they are actually good friends so no battle here, they both are great and wonderful singers in their own unique way and both ladies are more gorgeous in person than you could ever imagine oh yea ya better believe it!😝.
