This has been the best adaptation of video games EVER. I was so anxious because I wanted them to get it right. But they walked up to the plate, pointed to the outfield, and knocked it out of the park. The story of this game still haunts me to this day and I played it 10 years ago. There is something that Joel says to the solider guy "The more you kill people the harder it is to sleep, I guess" and it's only upon rewatch that it dawned on me that he has trouble sleeping and it might not just be because of Sarah (which is what I thought).
When I learned they were making it into a TV show, I texted my brother "PEDRO EFFING PASCAL FOR JOEL AND BELLA EFFING RAMSAY FOR ELLIE?" and he replied "Who's Bella Ramsay?" I tested "YOU DON'T KNOW LADY EFFING MORMONT ???? I AM DISOWNING YOU!"
What breaks my heart about this movie is you learn his wife was depressed because she somehow could feel him in the house, so she couldn't let go and be happy And you learn that Cole's grandmother couldn't pass on until she let her daughter know how proud she was of her. One thing that broke my heart on rewatch(es) is you see the exact moment Cole decides to tell Malcolm how to talk to his wife, and by doing so, meaning Malcolm would pass on and he would lose his confident. Yet, even know that, he still helps Malcolm. Also, the step mother had started poisonning the little sister. When they walk up to the house, you can hear someone say in the background that the little sister was also getting sick. The big sister saved her little sister by going to get help from Cole. This movie never gets old. Even if you've watched it again and again, it always gets to you.
hugh is cousins with daemon and viserys since his mom was princess saera targaryen, sister of prince baelon and princess alyssa (daemon and viserys’ parents). -rimcess saera was very famous since she was an exiled princess due to a sex scandal. king jaehaerys, saera’s dad and hugh, daemon, and viserys’ grandad, was known to hate saera the most for the damage she caused their family name. so you can imagine how ironic it is that hugh, saera’s bastard, ended up being vermithor’s rider, when vermithor was originally king jaehaerys’ dragon 😆😆
hugh hammers mother was saera targaryen, daughter of the old king jaehaerys who became a prostitute after a sex scandal. hugh claimed his grandfathers dragon!

I enjoyed this episode. Rhaenyra door dashing food to KL was smart strategy. I love the parallel of Alicent being cut in the same place she cut Rhaenyra. I cannot stand Aegon or Larys but I'm weirdly for them teaming up. I knew it was possible for Rhaenyra and Mysaria to hook up. I'm not mad about it but I don't trust Mysaria just yet. The best is Seasmoke claiming Addam. I love that! I cannot wait for the next episode!
loved everything about this episode! jace being more prominent, daemon and viserys dream, baby stormcloud, addam and seasmoke, rhae and mysaria, and aemond in control of the council. just wish baela was in this episode.

Rhaenys' mission was to protect Rook's Rest. She had to go back and see if Vhagar was crippled or hiding somewhere (and if she could be killed or badly hurt) or Vhagar would simply destroy half or all of the castle. Also, Rhaenys had a dragon-riding grand-daughter who would make a tasty mouthful for Vhagar, she did not want Baela to meet Lucerys' fate in the future, not to mention Vhagar torching the Velaryon fleet and Corlys with it.
I knew it was coming too, and the episode still surprised me in how well it was done. (though Sunfyre and Meleys' combat was heart-rending, Sunfyre did not deserve to be clawed up by another dragon, anymore than Meleys deserved to be killed by Vhagar)
Willem Blackwood of House Blackwood, the man who spoke to Daemon at Harrenhal, is the grown-up version of the gutsy skinny kid who applied for young Rhaenyra's hand in marriage and then killed an irritating (and much bigger) Bracken over an insult.
If someone’s home was getting attacked, and you call the police. Who’s job it is to protect, and the person attacking pulls a gun. So the police just leave, and go home. You’re going to lose all faith in the police and if it happens to you, or anyone who hears about it. They will never call the police again If Rhaneys left, either before or after attacking vaghar. then no one is going to support Rhaneyra or the blacks ever again, as they cannot rely on them.
I think they'll keep that fight, the Battle Above the Gods' Eye, for the end of Season 3. Someone else will die at the end of Season 2, I fear, in the Battle of the Gullet.
Rhaenys should not have engaged Vhagar alone. The old fool really thought she had a chance facing a dragon thrice the size of her own by herself. If she had gone with Daemon and Caraxes, she may have actually managed to kill Vhagar. Now their only chance against her lies with Vyrax and Caraxes together... or Vermithor.
Interesting take! The book actually states that had it been one on one then The Red Queen might have had a chance. A poor choice in the end but under different circumstances...who knows? 👀
I'm tired of yall acting like two people need to take on vhagar when she mostly sneaks most of the time vhagar could be taken down even by meleys the problem is meleys was already tired from fighting sun and she knew the possibilities of not winning but wanted to do more damage because what was the point of going back to dragon stone where she was gonna be called weak and useless for not doing nothing because the castle was gonna get destroyed anyway by them

Meleys was too injured to have made it very far & Rhaenys would have never abandoned Meleys even for the sake of her own safety. That last look they gave before turning back to fight Vhaegar again was a mutual acknowledgement they were gonna go down together. Makes that whole moment that much more heartbreaking
I think she knew she was on a kamikaze mission. She was the one til now saying never send in the dragons because it’s a nuclear option. She decided that’s the only option left and took it upon herself to do this showing Rhaenyra this is what they have to do. I love the exchanged look of Meleys and her knowing it was the end and thanks for all the memories type of look. I guess Aegon shouldn’t have humiliated Aemond last episode. I feel that he’s still alive but in bad shape because they would’ve shown him dead. Sad to see her and her dragon go. It was truly heartbreaking
A bit harsh considering under better circumstances they could have won. A one on one was said to be more balanced because of the dynamic power and size vs speed and agility. Let's not forget of the two riders Aemond has significantly less experience.
Such an amazing episode! Rhaenys and Meleys went out like fucking bosses. RIP to the red queen and the queen who should have been. I'm definitely team black but they need to get it together because they keep racking up losses. Aegon and Sunfyre being brought down is huge but Rhae needs an army now.

A beautiful contrast between Viserys and Aegon: when someone flaunted the Rhaenys "Queen who never was" thing right in Viserys's face, Otto told him he should address it and Viserys waved it off because it didn't matter and Viserys didn't care. Aegon, however, gets told of vague rumors calling him weak and manipulatable, and immediately tells Larys to deal with it. Viserys was the better king, by far...
Dragons are supernatural enough. They're the source and the core of many magical archetypes. The weirwood net is something new to explore here in HotD. Of course we had Brandon and the Raven (who, btw, was a Blackwood bastard and thus also Rivers) before. And it's speculated that the rats in the Red Keep are under Larys's control. (not all magic is obvious)
the riders where notice by the dragon first The armor shining exposed them for Baela. So, yeah, she could see them. don't forget that there are some magical aspects with the dragon bond which not yet discovered.
"Hey, I know you guys all planned on crowning Aegon anyway as oldest male, but yeah I made a mistake. So we all need to surrender to Rhaenyra. Of course that means Aegon will be executed, Aemond will be executed, all of you council members will be executed, but hey, sounds like a good deal to me"... Really the only possible way for peace at this point would be if Rhaenyra surrendered, everyone on the black side could be pardoned except for Daemon. Daemon would absolutely have to go.
12:58 from the start of the doctors scene, you can see a guy holding a box with his wife in it, his wife is growling. The woman next to him mentioned a sacrifice that went to s**t. They made it clear that it’s some kind of voodoo doctor that worships damballa. “You’re not exactly what I expected” “Well I’ll be sure to bring my chickens and goats next time” makes sense but still goofy asl 😭
