Should have won two Oscars. Both lost in their best sporting actor categories that year. And no one cares about Michael Caine in Cider House Rules or Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted now.
What breaks my heart about this movie is you learn his wife was depressed because she somehow could feel him in the house, so she couldn't let go and be happy And you learn that Cole's grandmother couldn't pass on until she let her daughter know how proud she was of her. One thing that broke my heart on rewatch(es) is you see the exact moment Cole decides to tell Malcolm how to talk to his wife, and by doing so, meaning Malcolm would pass on and he would lose his confident. Yet, even know that, he still helps Malcolm. Also, the step mother had started poisonning the little sister. When they walk up to the house, you can hear someone say in the background that the little sister was also getting sick. The big sister saved her little sister by going to get help from Cole. This movie never gets old. Even if you've watched it again and again, it always gets to you.
i remember him winning the award for best supporting actor but I was a teen at the time but I remember him being the youngest to win and I googled it and it said he won but then another time I looked it up it said the movie was nominated for many but didn't take home a win but that answer doesn't make sense to me because I remember hearing about the win when I was a teen
Maybe it was a different award I heard that he won cuz I can't seem to find a video on it they all say he was nominated but I can't find the actual Oscar clip. Mandela effect I guess lol
@@TheRepublican777 Haley won Best Male Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards. This, I think, is the most likely source of the video you remember. He also won a number of local (city or state) critics' awards, including wins in three separate categories from the Las Vegas Film Critics Society.
@@oliverbrownlow5615 Maybe that was it but I wonder why when I googled if he won the academy award it said he won then if I googled it again wording it slightly different it said no he was just nominated that is what is really throwing me off lol not even Google knows lol
We must also mention the wonderful performance of Toni Collette, nominated for an Academy Award for this film. Her performance as a mother has been phenomenal!
Note to all men: You don't have to keep the tears suppressed. Just feel it and cry. That's what life is about. You don't have to keep up some façade of tough.
This film and Haley Joel Osment won an Oscar in the hearts of everyone who has seen it, except for the Academy's. Maybe they don't have a heart. Good job, brah -
I saw this several times before I noticed Vincent and Cole both had a small shock of white hair by their right ear. Cole tells Malcom a good story needs a twist. While well known for his twists now, this was our intro to M Night so we didn't know or expect a twist so we were all shocked at the ending. What was especially cool in 1999, there was no social media to spoil the ending for those who hadn't seen it yet. Phenomenal movie.
One thing that confused me when I first saw this movie was why he wouldn't have his ring in his ghost form. After seeing a few of these reactions I realized why. Marriage is 'til death do you part.' He didn't have it because as he's dead, they aren't married anymore. I really like that detail, especially he first started realizing the truth after seeing his ring-less hand.
Go back and watch it again. Look for all of the red in the movie. It's a clue that there is something happening involving ghosts : the red crystal doorknow, the red church robe, Cole's red tent, the statue Cole took had a red cape, Anna wears a red dress at the anniversary dinner and a red shawl when she sleeps, Kyra's mother wears a red suit at the funeral, the red balloon at the top of the stairs and Cole's red sweater when he's attacked, red ink on the "upset words" paper, etc. Red is very purposefully used in this film. Another thing to note, Toni Collette, who plays Cole's mother, was mourning the loss of a loved one, and was sad to see that her dreams of being an actress had not come to much. She'd had plans to taking her own life just before she was handed this script by M. Knight Shyamalan, to read her part right there to herself in front of him. She accepted on the spot. She said in an interview that this film saved her life, and helped her to grieve properly. She was so good in this role. Everyone was, actually.
Yours was my favorite Sixth Sense reaction...I've watched them all. Everybody acknowledges Haley Joel Osment's performance, but you seemed especially appreciative. Do yourself a favor and watch Christian Bales' first role in Spielberg's 1986 drama Empire of the Sun. For some reason (maybe three-hour duration) nobody has been put on to it and I think there's only one reaction to it from a couple years ago. It's impossible to like it less than the Sixth Sense! Thanks for your time and effort...your newest sub.
It’s such a beautiful movie. Only scary movie to make me cry. Haley Joel Osment who played Cole and Toni Colette who played his mom were both nominated for academy awards for their performances. He was one of the youngest people ever.
1. Haley Joel Osment played Forrestt Gump Jr, in "AI" and absolutely kills in this.😎 2. I first knew when he met his wife when she was morning him alone at the anniversary meal. Only one place setting. 3. I watched my now ex to see when she got it but she never picked it up until the reveal. 4. They help each other. 5. Cole knew he wouldn't see Malcolm again. 6. Cole to Malcolm, "Sometimes magic's real". 7. A fun movie for review of a Bruce Willis is, "The Last Boy Scout". HINT HINT 8. Missing you Bruce.😥
This is my favorite movie to watch reactions to and I've seen it over 30x and still tear up. This is M. Night Shaymalan's greatest masterpiece that he has yet to top.
The twist is one of the biggest twists in movie history. Fans of the film are mostly hush out of respect to others so they get to experience it, and we get to experience their reactions, as we did yours. The setup was there but most of us were fooled, including me first time.
M Night always has a few tricks up his sleeve (besides his cameos in his films). It was thought the color RED was too obvious, but most didn't catch it!
I like the way yuu did this reaction! You showed way more of the movie which I like! And great reactions all through! Seen this movie 7 or 8 times. 💕 Luv it
He lost a LOT of weight for that part!! 😳 I haven't seen a reactor pick up on who it is yet!! In all fairness, he doesn't look like himself. I think he nailed the part!
Wonderful reaction!! If you haven't seen the GOAT trilogy The Lord of the Rings, then do it!! Don't be put off by how long they are. I've yet to see a reactor who didn't howl at the end of each movie because it was over. In facr, the extended cuts do the same thing and make the lore a bit more cohesive. The fan base is enormous and can jump start a new channel. We watch to see who you are , and from what I see so far, you'll do well. If you have seen LotR, then I recommend The Back to the Future trilogy. It was #1 until LotR replaced it. And it held first place for 25 years.
Great Reaction! For franchise I highly recommend the Rocky series 1-6, followed by Creed 1-3, Godfather 1-3, and Pirates of the Caribbean 1-5. It seems like you’re more into Horror, either way if not for a reaction video they’re all good. Although the Saw franchise is a good thriller/horror series
Why do guys feel this need to "hold it in like a champ"? It's a messed up world where we think like we're not allowed to feel things and be affected by them. There's so much beautiful stuff out there to enjoy fully, and we shouldn't be ashamed of that or afraid of it. Masculinity doesn't have to be toxic.
If you liked this show and how well it was done, you NEED to watch Nextflix's 10-episode series The Haunting of Hill House. One of the best written, acted, directed, and produced shows I have ever seen.
"Fuck bro! Oh shit bro! Fuck bro! Shit bro!" To me it sounds like American English is being reduced to a few words which everyone seem to use. Oh well.
