With more than 33 million records sold and seven Billboard Top Ten albums, John Denver released 23 studio albums over his lifetime. He is best known for the beloved songs "Leaving On a Jet Plane," "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Sunshine On My Shoulders," "Annie's Song" and "Rocky Mountain High," which is a co-state song of Colorado. In addition to his numerous awards and recognitions, Denver was instrumental in championing environmental and humanitarian causes. His popularity and continuing influence on popular culture still grow more than a decade after his untimely death.
Denver was a true adventurer, exploring all that the world had to offer. Throughout his life's journey he challenged himself on every level, which is an integral part of what made him an extraordinary man, an uncommon friend and a rare human being.
I was blessed to have his music in my life when I was growing up and we had a gorgeous country place to go to every weekend and we’d listen yo him snd Simon and Garfunkleand say” I wonder how the rest of the world is today?” Because we were on top of the world! I miss the sweet simpler days of the 70’s!
I am from Almost Heaven WV. I hear this song constantly. I am so blessed to find more songs by John Denver. I never knew he had such a precious spirit. I love his choice of songs. His voice is so gentle and sweet. RIP John Denver.
I have no idea why you think he died. Maybe he's doing a film. Maybe he's going on tour and not sure when he will stop it. Maybe he is going into the service. So many options and you pick death? Wow!
I’m a fan of John Denver. I’ve going to the beach and being in the ocean since I was a toddler. My family and I spent every summer vacation at the beach. My dad and I always enjoyed watching any tv program spotlighting Jacques Cousteau. Watching those programs and listening to John’s song Calypso just spoke to my soul. 🤿 🤟
Couple of weeks ago, my 36-year-old son called me saying that he felt a little bit lost. I told him to go sit in his riverside cabana and listen to this song. He texted me later telling me thanks for the relieving cry😢.
I was in old Stapleton airport outside of Denver trying to gather all my little chicks to go on a plane to England. My son, Jon, was 7 and wildly running ahead. Afraid of losing him, I shouted "Jon!!!" To my right I heard, "Yes?" Only in a mother's frustration, I exclaimed, "Not you, my son!" only to realize a second later that it was John Denver who replied back to my shout. Stopped me in my tracks, don't ya know.
Such a loss for all. They were flying for me. RIP to the Crew and John. My Doc's appt. was this day and my daughter was born not long after. A day i'll never forget.
Its interesting how this 8 bar song and chorus arrangement is in a 2/4 beat but has a sort of "limp " of a single 3/4 in the 6th bar only. No such thing though in the Sally Goodin fiddle tune play out
John Denver, Olivia Newton John. Both have left us, I Love them Dearly and Miss them both. Like most of you, I agree the 1970's was a good decade to be a Kid. Indeed. This song touches me deeply. I remember watching this Christmas Speacial with family. When I was a Teen, John Denver and I had the same Hair, Glasses, and clothes. I was Flattered when people thought I was him. People wanted an Autograph. Olivia and John performing together.... Magic.... ❤
I have always been a John Denver fan growing up.now im almost 69 years ola and i still miss his voice and the emotions he brings with his songs.he is a real musical genius.
