Both my cateye 400 and 800 have let me down. The first one is only a year and a half old and the other 6 months. One no longer seems to hold charge, the other keeps switching itself off. I'm not buying another one so thank you for these reviews.
Hi love your videos I've just brought a second-hand 2020 voodoo bizango carbon it's had one or two modifications like the nukeproof headset and grips plus now has a set of RockShox recon front forks but have notice a little play on the rear wheel and the cassette lock ring slips when you try and tighten it so the 5 largest cogs have about 2mm play forward and back hopefully a new lock ring will fix this.
I have the same tyres.. I like them I must admit.. 1 gripe I have with them though is they dont shed sticky mud very well, I suspect that is due to the near vertical walls on the threads.. But for the price, its really a very good budget tyre.., I cant comment on puncture resistance though, I dont ride really rough rocky stuff..
Swithland wood, Leicestershire? Thanks for the review. Thinking to upgrade from the Carrera fury but not sure it's a big enough upgrade. Similar weight, lose the dropper post, newer components... Undecided
As you say it’s well worth using 2 front lights as a lot of these narrow beam lights are are simply too narrow. You also need a more flooding based light too. Cateye ampp lights are more of a flood light than a pin spot.
i bought these for the specific purpose of mud lol, they looked like mud tyres thing is though they are vaaastely better than the plastic crap i had before lol, so to me they feel great
Another bike with a quite similar spec but for a cheaper price is the sulcata 3.2 only difference really is the dropper seat post this bike also has full internal cable routing
This is the one I just bought it was dropped from 575 to 525 I also got the upgraded shocks through in , only things I'm.going to change are a £120 dropper post in halfords made for carreas especially, and I see a stunning set on online only shinmnoa pedals. For £50 I ended to see if my new friends in halfords will for them for free as they are order only and thst will.give me a Weeke or 2 with the bike see id they any niggles.
I like the vid. Just a few tips on things I saw. I'd recommend against using steel wire and brass brushes on what looks like an aluminum frame, as both are harder than aluminum and can easily cause deep scratches. As for your spray paint not coming out easily, you might try soaking the can in warm water before use, may make things easier. I agree with what you wrote about sandblasting in the description, prep work is always the most numbing work. Overall I like how the bike turned out.
They do a fair range of tyres. OK so they aren't for competition but they are a great choice for a 'runaround' bike. I tend to use the 'Smartpac' on the old 26" MTB which I use in plosives where I don't fancy leaving a more expensive bike. The Smartpac appears to be the 'old' Smart Sam pattern which is good all-rounder
LEDThe The Powlaken has a roof mount LED so you get a flat (even) beam of light. I like these for road use. But my older ones use AA batteries & are not so powerful.
Thanks for commenting! The chain has a fair amount of excess wax on it at that point, so pedalling it backwards helps to knock it off and loosen the links up.
@@DJFXC Ah so that was the reason. I asked the question because I own the same bike....Boardman 8.8 MHT silver, red, and black frame. I've had mine since 2019 I bought it from Halfords and made sure I looked after it...cleaning after every ride and greasing when needed. The Rockshox Judy forks have never been serviced. Recently I asked a guy at Halfords about servicing the forks he said my forks don't need servicing because I don't use the bike on mountain bike trails or use it to jump off ledges on the trails I only use it to ride to and from work and so no stress or wear and tear have occurred on the forks even though they are nearly 3 years old now.
It’s good to hear you’ve been looking after it! The fork on my commuting bike hasn’t been serviced in 3 years (mainly because I can’t find any replacement parts for it) but I think as long as the forks have oil left in them it’s probably fine with light use.
+1 for supervising the batteries, I had a €30 bike light explode when charging, it had done most of the damage during transit but when I plugged it in it decided to start smoking and sparking again
Thank you for commenting! haha I believe the rear mud guard disintegrated not long after filming this.. Luckily managed to get a better set this winter!
The powerful light that use the battery packs are ok, but the battery pack can short out and cause a fire. The way to go is buy the light and buy 18650 rechargeable batteries and a holder that holds the batteries and it will be cheap enough and safe. If you have the battery pack you can split it down carefully and use the 18650 batteries in a holder. I did this and have plastic cases to carry them then replace them in the holder as required.
the nestling triple light i have used since 2015 in all weathers, one on helmet and two on bars the badly wrapped battery can be messed sweats inside killing the circuit protection board in months. I removed the blue plastic wrapping then electrical taped from 5mm off the bottom to 5mm from the top. now they breathe they are reliable and one lasted 4 years. burn time on low is about 4 to 5 hrs and with 3 then theres enough of light for off rd. I do 40 mile nigh time runs with theses using 4 batteries. just make sure your in when charging..........and the two lights on the bars are steadied with a bent spoke and wire ties.
I agree it’s more difficult to portray it through video as everyone has different screen brightness, for me the video makes the lights look dimmer than they are in person.
******* Went for the Nestling Just a warning to Everyone DO NOT GET IT FOR MTB the mount is terrible and it falls off on the slightest bump Save you Cash buy a better one with a decent mount **************** Maybe review the mount as well next time as no idea how you managed to go over anything with that mount
My mounts survived been thrown over multiple fences with the light on, going over rock gardens etc for the past year or so… been absolutely fine. They must have changed the design or you may have got a faulty one…
@@DJFXC must have as it lasted under 20 sec coming down the first run , and kept falling off until it broke the back of the light -it kept popping off the the mount so the mount is good just the clip holding the light - But Great bright light so will just try and find a better mount for it now :) thx for the reply !
hey dude, I like your videos. I'm looking into getting my first mtb as I haven't rode a bike in years since I was a kid and have recently gained an interest again, 2 questions for you, Is there much of a difference between the alloy and carbon versions of the voodoo bizango? Also would you say this bike is suitable for somebody who's very large in size (I'm around 130kg at the moment, please don't judge me I'm trying to lose weight hence the desire to get a bike 😆)? thanks, great videos again mate earned a new sub 👍
I've been looking for a bicycle like that here in the states, but they don't sell Voodoo here in the states. All the other carbon hardtails are mostly for cross country racing. I don't want to spend too much money on them bike like that.
Can someone help me. I ve got one of these carrera fury. But I would like to change the gears on this as it to low. So can anyone help me please. On advice on the crankset and cassette.
My conclusion is you need 2 lights... one for up close and one for distance.. I bought a $24 and $40 dollar light.. I use them both. the $24 for close and the $40 for distance. I no longer hit pine cones.. 2 light system just works... Of course 2 lights is better! I live in a hot area and only time I like to ride after dark when it starts to cool off, traffic is much less also...
