You are awesome!! Thank you for this breakdown! I am finishing up on my Google PM Certificate and then will be preparing for my CAPM. This information is helpful!
I am a master's degree student in Engineering Management, and I graduated with a degree in Administration Management. My thesis is about project management in construction companies. I am also preparing for the PMP exam, although I do not have any experience in project management yet. Given my educational background and my thesis focus, do you think it is feasible for me to start my career as a supervisor or in a project management role immediately after graduation, even without prior experience in project management? Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your information.
Glad you found the video helpful! I've touched on this in my other videos - AI keeps rising, but they don't have what "we" have, which is that personal and human touch that's needed to influence others, connect with others in a more personal way, and drive decisions in a strategic and relatable way. I view AI right now as a tool that helps brainstorm and refine ideas
Hi! Great video, really appreciate your dedication to teaching and the role itself. I have experience leading installation and maintenance project teams on different countries and technologies for over 8 years. So from the technical leader in my field I want to expand my project manager skills and apply for project manager roles. I am starting at the end of the month a Project Manager course in my country (4 month course to learn agile, scrum and waterfall mothods on different tools and soft skills preparation). Do you think I should persue also the PMP while I am at the course or maybe after? You said that Software engineer was more stressful and less flexible than PM.. I didn't expect that, really? PM has much more responsability because he had to care for stakeholders also his team members, but for sure it is satisfying! Mostly when you have great impact on the company and the teams you manage
Glad you found the video helpful, and you're enjoying the content! Thanks for sharing your experience, being a Project Manager is extremely rewarding, and it's very gratifying knowing that you're leading a huge initiative from start to finish!
Regards to your question - To pursue your PMP, I recommend making sure you meet PMI's requirements first. If you already meet PMI's project management experience requirements and you plan to use your 4 month course to qualify for your PMP requirements, then I'd recommend going for your PMP after your course ends.
Since I don't know your background , your skillset, and your experiences and what level you're currently at, Im only able to give high level advice - I'd recommend weighing all your current choices & opportunities and pursuing the ones which best interests you, but still gives you the highest ROI and career growth
Hi Alvin l am in midst of my studies for project management certifications in Prince 2 Foundation & Practioner, Prince 2 Agile and CAPM. would l still be able to apply for entry level roles as assistant project manager, junior project manager roles after finishing my study for my certifications. Would l still need to do google course as well.
Hi Mark, great to hear from you and hope you're doing well! You should still be able to apply for entry level project manager roles after you achieve your certifications. The Google Course is meant to help supplement your knowledge and give you a solid foundation, but you're likely going to get that knowledge while studying for Prince 2 and CAPM.
That's awesome to hear! There many opportunities you'll have available to you, I encourage you to search job boards in your area to find roles in project management in companies and the industry you want to work for. Watch this video, where I go into detail about the opportunities in a PM's career: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EfONp0EuGYk.htmlsi=XkGLbf6Qm8uATZ6E
I literally just completed my Coursera certification today for project management. I am so happy to be done and excited at the doors this will open for me.
It will depend on the level of experience you have and your background. If you already meet PMI's requirement of having three years of managing projects, then my recommendation is to go for your PMP. If you already have your PMP, then add on the Scrum Master Certification to bolster your credibility and build your career brand
Yep! I am in the process of preparing for an entry level project manager position. I graduated from Google's Project Management Certificate program in March. I am studying for the CAPM exam. This video was timely and helpful.
I’m in an academy of 17 EMS and Fire recruits and every single one of us religiously use pocket prep for everything EMS and Fire and it is worth every penny

Hey Alvin, thank you for your amazing content! It has been instrumental in helping me decide to make the move to PM, having been a Sales Exec in tech for many years. For someone looking to get CAPM Certified in the next couple months, would you recommend Jospeh Phillips Udemy Course (or Andrew Ramdayal) + Pocketbook Prep etc, or PM Prep Cast Elite bundle? I feel PM Prep Cast may be more suited for someone new to the field and covers latest content. Also, is it worth getting a PMI membership for the PMBOK guide and discounted exam? Be keen on your thoughts and what you recommend. Thanks!

That's great to hear you passed your CAPM Exam, hope you gained value out of this video, where I actually reviewed an actual job posting for an entry level PM position!
I wanted to let you know that you have set the excessive bass of your audios in all your videos, only in your videos do I have to modify the bass and I watch hundreds of different channels on RU-vid. Greetings!
What kinds of headphones are you using to listen to the video? When I listen using my speakers, my laptop sound, my headphones, and watching my videos on my phone, it doesn't seem like the bass is too loud

Super helpful! I work in a firm with multiple disciplines; civil engineering, hydro, environment, survey, and landscape. I was asked if I was interested in PM work and thought why not, but boy I didn’t know what I was getting into! I am learning as I go and seeking extra resources to learn from when I came across your account. Your videos are really helpful and informative. Thanks for sharing your insights.
Really good video I learnt a lot, I’ve listened to the book and writing down key points to test this out in the real world and this video helped me simplify everything.
Helen, I wish everything in life was 100% guaranteed, but nothing in life is certain. For example, just because you gain a certification does NOT guarantee you will get a job interview. What I will say is that going through the program will definitely teach you the fundamentals and give you the skills and confidence so you can be much more confident in the job interview and in performing the actual job itself.
Hi Alvin, I passed my PMP Exam with overall above target score. Your videos are relevant, well paced, to the point and helpful in clearing the doubts. Thanks for all your help. 💐🙏🏻
So glad you found the video helpful and excited to have helped you pass your PMP Exam!! Feel free to recommend my videos to anyone else you know who might find it useful.
