This channel is a place to share my passion for self-improvement through fitness, tech, entrepreneurship, and investing. I'm always trying new things, and finding new ways to get to the next level!
"Zone 2" has many definitions anywhere from 60-85% max heart rate depending on who you ask. However 60% is radically different training from 85%. You can also reach any heart rate with endless ratios of cadence, resistance, and distance. I run out of breath far sooner than I ever experience leg fatigue so it seems my primary limitation is my heart and circulation not delivering enough oxygen. I can push 400 watts for 2 minutes because of leg strength, but barely average 200 watts for a 20 minute test. What cadence and heart rate percentages do you think most increases actual heart chamber size and central adaptations? Did you find increasing cadence, resistance, or distance most improve FTP?
What's crazy is that I haven't played in a decade as well since high school lmao. I got into Pickleball a little bit a few months ago but decided that I wanted to go all the way and get back into Tennis. We'll see how all of this goes.
Interesting!! Searching for the trouble shooting videos and found yours. I got mine yesterday and before even charging it and trying it out I wanted to change the strap (bought a whoop plus different colour strap plus underwear) I was convinced it’s an amazing device and I won’t regret. I already do. I can’t change the strap, I must have a faulty item but the easy ‘slide side’ is like glued and doesn’t move at all even with force. A few people tried. I can’t take the strap off. I have seen many videos of changing the strap and no one mentioned it being stuck and hard to slide out. It feels like manufacturing issue. So I reached out to whoop and let’s see how fast they respond. Going through the hassle of having it replaced (if they approve) and then the software might not work, or a charger… 😩I kind of feel like there is no quality control. I should have kept my Apple Watch. I don’t like screens but quality is always there. 😏
Yikes!! Wow seems like you’ve had all the issues I’ve heard of all at once. Sorry to hear that for sure. Hopefully Whoop responded quickly and you can get it all resolved! Cheers!
If you looking for things to motivate yourself, thats a problem right there. Motivation is in the mind. With that said, if you really want to workout you will find a way, and if you dont you will find excuse.
Words of wisdom! Thanks! It’s been a while since this video and I’m on a streak of about 22 months with 3+ gym/run sessions per week, so feeling the solid motivation now! Cheers!
guys can anyone tell me what is power estimated mode which has two options classic and zpower in zwift settings? i have randomly clicked one thing and i actually forgot which one was previously i have wahoo smart trainer v6
I can try to help! Essentially 'Power Estimated' is a way to get a value (in Watts) of how hard you're working at any given time. ZPower is Zwift's algorithm to calculate that, which only works with the compatible trainers they have to select from in the app. Classic is a standard calculation based on speed. However, if you have a Smart Trainer, you should be able to connect that trainer to Zwift directly and use the Power that is read from the machine, instead of needing an estimated power, and it will be much more accurate! Cheers!
I've been using Swift for around 6 weeks now, still very much a newbie, mostly on my new Wahoo Core, which I really like, and when I found out that it now supports virtual shifting, after doing some research and debating it I decided that getting the Play controllers made the most sense for me. The Bluetooth protocol that Zwift uses to tell the app to virtually shift appears to be proprietary and closed right now so you can't use generic Bluetooth controllers for it, and there's no way to virtually shift using the app or companion app, so the only ways that I know of are the Play and Click controllers. And since the Play controllers are much more useful than the Click which literally only shift and have just 2 buttons, and are just $19 more than the upgrade kit that the Click comes with, which is of no real use to me since I just have one bike and a bunch of old cassettes, I decided to get a pair and ordered them today. They're a bit more expensive than I'd like but they do have lots of other features I can see myself using, like steering, braking changing perspective, giving ride ons, etc. But mostly I got them for virtual shifting, as it'll save wear on my road cassette and be much quieter, and offer much lower gears than my bike does for those long and steep climbs that I've been avoiding so far because I'm still getting back into shape.
Im a long distance runner. I use BPN's gels and Electrolytes mix. Love both. I don't find the Electrolyte mix to salty at all. But all personal choice.
Good to know! I really like the taste of them when I half the dose, but makes sense to be a personal preference thing! I also don't run nearly as far ;)
I have the same problem using the ATV. Basically crap. Fancy box, oodles of how to videos and marketing money but it would be nice if the toy would simply work. It doesn't for me?
Honestly, you should try CrossFit Linchpin through BTWB. There’s a 2 or 4 week free trial period. Everything negative you described in your video is accounted for through Pat Sherwood’s programming (there are plenty of options including a Limited Equipment Option which requires only a pull-up bar, a set of dumbbells, a set of rings and a skipping rope. I’ve been doing it for four years now and it’s incredible. I would LOVE to see your honest review of it.
Dude I’ve seen a couple of your videos now, quit being like the rest of society and expecting free stuff as you’ve complained in both videos and stabbed at BPN for making you buy their products out of your own money, work and pay for stuff out of pocket like the rest of us and give your review on it.
Haha sorry to come off that way! Was intending to be more like “I paid for these so it’s not a paid endorsement” but looks like it didn’t come through that way ;) cheers!
Nick Bare has a lot of time to workout like this. He’s also a freak (in a good way). When I say he has a lot of time more than your average Joe; he worked his ass off to build his company that earned him this luxury. Again he worked hard.
Wilson nxt is my favorite string. Most club/rec players use monofilaments that they see the pros using because they can generate so much spin and power, which is true for pros. This issue is that we aren’t pros and as you get past 45 it’s so easy to get overuse injuries, tennis elbow etc. I tried all kinds of elbow straps etc, but when I switched to these strings it fully went away, as did my dreams of becoming pro lol.
No way that's huge! I see the same things in golf too, everyone wants the pro's gear which ends up making their game so much worse since they don't have the pros skills (or trainers, regimen, nutritionists, etc.) :)
I personally think it's WAY too thick when mixed with milk, and when mixed with water tasted a bit chalky to me. At the end of the day (for me personally) whey proteins are all so similar in actual content, that it all comes down to taste, and for me the flavours I tried were lacking in that area for sure.
Thanks for the video. I just started using the controllers. With the Zwift Hub One trainer, the black side buttons also allow you to shift virtual gears. Super useful!
Anytime during the day! It’s a recommended daily supplement, but they don’t really specify when.. I’ve seen Nicks videos where he will take them at multiple different times
Yeah I was on that same cgm and my doctor took me off because of the same issues. Tons of blood would come out of the center after applying it, when you took it off it would pull off a huge thing of skin everytime, it would get ripped off. And when I got the Dexcom G6 I tested how close my blood sugars were from the Dexcom G6 and the Freestyle libre 2. And what I found out was the Freestyle libre was way off with my blood sugars compared to the Dexcom G6 and testing with a monitor. It was like a crazy 40 point difference. I'm now on the Dexcom G7 and it definitely is my favorite!!! Siri even reads out my blood sugar to me when it drops too low and it also notifies my husband!!! Love it!! When I first got on a cgm almost 5 years ago my A1c was at a 9 and I couldn't get it any lower just on 6 test strips a day and now my A1c is at a 5.5 🥰 the lowest I've ever had it as a type one diabetic!!! We have 3 diabetics in our house. Me (type one diabetic) my husband (type 2 diabetic) and his mother Debbie (type 2 diabetic)...my husband wasn't a diabetic when we first started dating (10 years ago) but during covid lock downs he became a type 2 diabetic and he definitely understands what I go through from day to day now.
Thanks for the recommendation!! The blood coming out was a bit freaky tbh… like did I just intentionally poke a hole in my shoulder?! lol That’s an absolutely incredible story too and I’m so glad it is going so well for you and your family!!!
Don’t ever take full serving of the Flight pre workout my blood pressure was 160/90+ for like 24hrs. But yes it’s good I take less than half a serving/day and have been good since.
You can’t even pronounce the compounds in those supplements correctly, I’m using BPN products but I’m not sure how this video is going to encourage ppl to buy BPN products
Glad you mentioned how silly it looks to pop out over and over for 400m intervals. I do that sometimes and I’m sure my neighbors think I’m absolutely nuts lol
I’ll believe that Nick is natty when he ever comes out and tells people he’s had an injury. To think someone in their 30s is doing a bodybuilding show, ultramarathon and sub 2:45 marathon all in a 6 month time with no injury is nearly inhuman. As someone who’s lived their 30s you just can’t keep up like you did in your 20s. Now it helps that Nick doesn’t have a physical job like I do where I’m logging 6-8 miles a day on my step counter, but to be putting that amount of mileage on a 200+ lbs frame without injury for years doesn’t seem realistic. I mean within 2 weeks of running his training app I had knee pain and ankle tendinitis.
I think we have similar sentiments on it ;) super inspirational? Absolutely. But I don’t think any normal human (even on peds) could keep up with Nick. He is a different type of athlete for sure, especially at the age he is doing all of this at!
I think it being a combination of healthy fats and sugar helps the body metabolize it better (I might have heard this from the Weston A Price Foundation). Similar to fruits and fiber.
@@JadenFeddockthey don’t have the pink lemonade in endopump, so blue raspberry it is. I’ll be honest….blue raspberry endopump solo made me want to barf. But put that in WITH pink lemonade flight and it’s the perfect combo.
The whey protein is Delicious! Strong reds and greens are awesome too. Not interested in taking the other stuff. I think they need to lower the price a little on their products though
I use Bucked Up (their monohydrate is cheap and I can get it locally which I like) but any reputable brand sells a basic creatine mono that you can find on Amazon / GNC / etc!
That’s impressive!! Curious how everyone is different, I definitely recommend that people start with smaller doses until they find their personal sweet spot… if I try to take a whole scoop I can feel tingling in my face lol
I recently joined Whoop in the past month and had the same issues a week and a half in. Customer service here in the UK got back to me and promptly sent me a new band which arrived 3 days later. Funnily enough my original band started responding 2 days after being drained completely flat. I only figured this out by trying the battery pack again out of curiosity. No indication from customer service as to why this happened but worth setting aside to see if this occurs for you. Am using the replacement band moving forward but was a little disappointed about the original failing so quickly.
That’s crazy how fast you were seeing issues!! I just checked my old band and still dead as a door nail… but reliability is super important with something you’re wearing 24/7 so I totally get why you’re avoiding the original band!
Nick Bare is another fake natty and trying to imitate him is dangerous. If you run more than about 60 or 70 miles a week, you will crash your testosterone, like cut it HALF. I ran D1 track, and this is well known in there. Top level athletes there will monitor carefully and supplement to bring it back up to normal range. Just putting this out there because most people aren't aware of it like there's awareness of roids in bodybuilding and stuff.
Wow I didn’t know that about distance running!! But from what I’ve seen of distance runners / Olympic Marathon etc it makes sense to me… I’ve heard quite a few people mention PEDs with Nick Bare and I don’t know if I know one way or another, but I can say his training load would probably put me in a hospital bed if I tried to copy it exactly for any meaningful amount of time 😂
