For all our lives we've loved nerdy stuff, from card games to comics and from role-playing to board games. This channel is all about two and old boys talking about their new (and sometimes old) toys
Thanks for watching and commenting. They're two of the most powerful cards for the cost you can play. Any reason you don't want to play them, is it a price issue? I'll take a look and see what I can switch for :)
"I believe the GenCon 7-0 deck has just been beaten by the $20 deck!" LOL not if an actual player had been running it. That's what I hate about the Force Table AI - it makes a lot of sub-optimal plays, bordering on random, that a human would never throw a match with. It attacked your base when it should have killed some of your characters, attacked your leader when it should have been attacking your base, waited until Turn 5 to deploy Han instead of double-ramping on 4 like EVERY Han player does, and that Cantina Bouncer bounced a unit that had already attacked instead of a ready one that would have kept it in the game for another turn (the turn it could have killed you had it taken initiative, DESPITE all its flaws). If it had made ANY of those plays differently, like the deck's owner would have, you'd have very obviously lost. I'm not saying you can't play SWU on a budget. Last set's Sabine decks were impossible to spend more than $50 on, and she was ALWAYS top-tier. But this duel is hardly proof that this deck would consistently - or even occasionally - beat the Gen Con champ.
Well, I had to make the thumbnail interesting didn't I. If you've never seen the channel before then I should say we are a little tongue in cheek on occasion. You are right about the AI, even I was amazed when the Cantina Bouncer sent an exhausted unit back to my hand rather than the ready unit. All I'm going to say is. Dude... A win's a win 🤣
Thank for your view and comment. It's a whole series we are now planning. Taking powerful decks and then halving the value and then we giving Mr Jeff only $20 for try to emulate it. I'm trying to get him to run it against several decks. We'll see. Love your channel btw
Love the cheap decks and I will give yours a run. But… beating the top deck on force table and saying it could win is a bit of a stretch. Force table AI is pretty bad. Take it to Karabast then give a report.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I will admit to getting just a smidgen carried away with the video title. 😉But... for $20(ish) it it a boot load of fun to play, and it did beat the deck, even if it was played by a wonky AI opponent. If you think about it, that's quite fair though. The Han deck was played by an SI (Scarcely Intelligent) player 🤣
Damn straight. It attacked base when it should have killed some characters, attacked leader when it should have been attacking base, waited until Turn 5 to deploy Han instead of double-ramping on 4 like EVERY Han player does, and that Cantina Bouncer bounced a unit that had already attacked instead of a ready one that would have kept it in the game for another turn (the turn it could have killed him, had it taken initiative, DESPITE all its mistakes). If it had made ANY of those plays differently, like the deck's owner would have, he'd have very obviously lost. Force Table played this deck randomly like a toddler compared to how the gen Con champ used it.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes the AI is terrible but we like to use FT as it's visually better for video. Have you checked out my Holonet video as we'll be recording from there as the cards are added as I'm on the alpha testing. If you've not seen it, please watch this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2kFaMbHFby4.html
Thank you so much. I don't get much time to play at local game stores so usually it's just me and my son building decks for fun to play against each other. These fast cheap decks are what we enjoy building ;)
Hi there. Thanks for watching and commenting. It’s my favourite all time TCG too and so glad it’s come back. Hoping to get some play throughs recorded too
somehow, i get the feeling if i wuz even able to get to gencon, i would not be made to feel very welcome. oh well, prolly four the best. crowds and i are NOT old buddies. shirley, it would have not have been degrading or weird, at all, to publicly beg stangers for help to buy 6 cards for $99. "pwease sir! all i need is another $97.53 and i'll have my vewy own piece of thin cardboard that says 'darth vader' on it. think of the kitties and puppies!"
@AgharGrin good to have you commenting again 😄 We can take on GenCon together. All we need is 4 copies of this deck and a packed lunch. Then we can crush all who stand before us with this proven event winning deck*. All Hail OBNT and AgharGrin *Your experience may differ from those shown online or displayed in the brochure. Actual win rate is between 100% and Nil. Colours and sizes may vary. Please allow 6 -18 weeks for delivery.
@@oldboysnewtoys dragoncon is closer, safer, and friendlier. plus, i'm allowed in the great state of georgia. illanoize... not so much. be warned, if you do visit the colonies, stay in east tennessee long enough and you will start sayin' "y'all", buy a "moblie home" that never gets moved, and become well-armed feral mountain types. hmm. now that i "say it"... "out loud"... i dont really see just where the downside is. ...oh. yeah. the 45 minute drive to the lgs.
Where our decks differ is I’m not running Rey or wrecker, I run 3 fell the dragons. 2 techs, 3 karabast, 2 redemptions (I may want 3 due to meta). I run 1 takedown but have 2 more in sideboard. I have 2 make an opening in side board against Quira. Last week I went 13-2 my two losses was a Sabine who drew the nuts, and I lost to a mirror match up against Han who got a pillage off before me. This is a deck where you don’t care about your early units (trade trade trade) wrestle control of mid game for Luke and then if it goes to late game, you just win if you have Fell the Dragons and tech or just play the big unit. So many late game options make this deck S tier
That all sounds really good. Might need a switch around with my deck. The only one I really struggle with is Tech as I rarely make use of his ability but I guess that's where you're hoping to resource a Luke early to get him later?
@@oldboysnewtoys no I tend to hold the Luke’s, sometimes even two Luke’s back to back depending on what my opponent does. Tech is amazing at getting out the needed spells like fall the dragon, takedown, force throw(very cheap)
Excellent video. I won my store showdown in SoCal last week. This is a link to the final game: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yWNbO33mHMY.htmlsi=eyRplsh6GaZIxJ8x I am really impressed with how this deck plays against Sabine. I’m running a much more controlling version because it suits the meta better. I want to go mid and late game so I have no problem passing just to see what my opponent does. You gotta see the karabast move and the force throw play. It really demonstrates the rare strength.
Subbed to your friends channel. Yes, it's (mostly) great against Sabine as she's still powerful using only set one, with set 2 a bloody pain. It was hard to see some of your cards due to the light. I'm never been one for Karabast, maybe it needs a review. We'll have to get you on with us soon for a chat if you fancy it at some stage
I got into VteS earlier this year. And I can very much recommend anyone who is even just a tiny bit interestednin cardgames to check this one out. Now is a perfect time to get into the game! The v.5 decks are all very powerfull and work great as designed. Ofc just one new blood deck and you get a few extra good cards to hep you tool out the deck to your own liking. You can also print cards from gamepod. The game have had a real renaissance the last couple of years. So spread the word of this game, its fantastic and unique!
Hey there, sorry I haven't seen all of the new videos. Was ill, but thank you for making these awesome videos and as always they are a pleasure. Thank you guys for the hard and amazing work you do!
Sorry to hear you've been ill. It's great to have you watching and commenting again. I have some game reviews coming up so this video really came out of me playing with the editing software 😅 Don't worry though, there will still be plenty of videos with us arguing over new Star Wars cards 👍
Not sure if you saw it yet but there is another card a 4 cost cunning event called “prisoner of war” it allows a unit to capture a card and if the unit that is captured costs less the the one that captured it, you create two battle droids.
Well spotted. I missed that. There are already some amazing cards being revealed for this expansion. This could well make up for the 'issues' FFG has with Shadows 👍
Cards like Jesse make upgrades and the granting of shields/xp more valuable to play in the game? So, yeah, field a really economical card at the risk your opponents can upgrade them or just use them to chip damage your own units/base. It could be worth it.
Bossk was an anchor for my Boba Blue deck for set 1. The combo of control events and cunning events meant he was dishing out that damage. I played Bib Fortuna out early to get those events even cheaper.
It is a for sure proven deck at this point in the meta. After GenCon in San Diego, a lot of us here in Southern California are hyped about Han Blue. And Qira Green. I went 6-0 with Han Blue last week at my locals. Cheating out big units just to trade with Sabine Units holds up well. A lot of us are practicing with Double yellow Han, that is a very hard deck to get good with, but has so many answers to set 2 metas like Sabine and Boba
I personally don’t enjoy Sabine as a leader. It’s not really my style. Nice, well done. Is that blue Han deck the older one or the new leader? I see huge benefits in both Boba and old Han in double yellow. I’ve built 2 very solid decks that I’m hoping will go up this coming week but like you say, im winning most games until I hit a Sabine deck as I need a perfect draw to make it viable
Great point! Badly overlooked. I’m amazed both Mr Jeff’s didn’t include him. With the way I’m going about these lists, I’m trying to look at them from a non trait ability for more deck. But yes, he looks so strong for a BH deck. You’ve given me an idea for a deck build….
We do like to make a grand opening! Thank you for watching and your feedback. As you're the first person to mention it and we've been using this one for weeks now, what exactly do you think needs to change? Thanks in advance
This kind of looks great, It's way too extra for me, will be finding that mute button asap. I'd be concerned that taking sound effects from the films my get them too much attention from Disney
Looks awesome! However, I am not a fan. These systems destroy local organized play at the game stores. It has done it with MTGA, it has happened to Flesh and Blood with Talishar, and Karabast is already doing the same thing to SWU. I am also concerned with Disney’s tolerance to this, especially with the actions taken against the Lorcana version.
Hi there. Thanks for your view and commenting. It does look and sound amazing. However, I have a very different take on it as software like this allows people that live in remote areas to gain access and to play the actual game. I can't speak for FAB and Lorcana but FFG have huge issues with providing stock of the physical product and this way it allows people to "try before the can buy". I prefer playing in person to online but I can only twice a month in person so if I didn't have access to these tools, I'd have come out from playing SWU. I
I can see if from FFG point of view so you do wonder what will happen in the long run. I expect for the short time, FFG will let things like this live until they either buy something online or create their own.
See, most people near me use it to supplement FLGS nights. You use the online platform to tune your list throughout the week. You practice live at the FLGS game nights and thats your prep for any organized play
@@JKSSubstandard What has happened in my region for all TCGs that have any online play is the competitive play significantly increases due to what you described, making a negative impact to the fun experience of the more casual players. So they just stop coming and play online instead and only turn out for pre-release events. Another interesting thing that happens is the discussions people have that do show up at the LGS surrounds their experience with online play, essentially how certain decks are crushing it or how their decks are performing. From these experiences I have been finding these systems to be a negative impact to attendance at the LGS.
I just realised that Covert Strength would be a strong combo with Mace in a red/blue/hero deck. After ambushing in with Mace, use CS to heal damage and power him up with experience for the next attack.
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. It's Star Wars Unlimited a CCG that launched earlier this year. I've only played Pokemon once and it was a while back so I'm not sure on the comparison though. But SWU is amazing
I was really hoping for Obi-Wan and General Grievous for the starter set, but oh well. I hope we at least get a solid art for an Obi-Wan and Anakin leader cards in Clone Wars armour.
Sorry to hear you’re not enjoying it. I’m not a massive fan of the time line characters for set 2 but I really like the Smuggle trait (not a fan of the Bounty or capture though). But like you, set 3 looks amazing so far. Bet you can’t wait for your birthday this year!!
Good video, but all current leaders from Set 1 & 2 say Ground on the unit side. I really want space leaders, not sure if they're coming in this set... but Set 4 is called Jump to Lightspeed. I'm hoping and praying for a Wedge Antilles Rogue Leader space leader, with his full Rogue Squad retinue...
Hi there. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes all the leader say ground on the unit side but both of the new leaders specifically say play into the ground on their leader side so fingers crossed, we get leaders that’ll say play into space I too really hope for Wedge space leader to create the Rogue Squad. They are great books and I was gutted when the series of films was cancelled
@@oldboysnewtoys Ahh yes, I see what you mean now, interesting... "This is where the fun begins!"? Same here about the X-Wing books! Those books are a huge part of why I'm as massive a Star Wars fan as I am.
