Dad could deliver a baby (yes, he was a physician) and he could also build a house, do his own car repair (when he had the time), paint residentially, and he was a master paper hanger. He also turned blocks of wood into inlayed and finished gunstocks. Simply amazing as is your genius approach to a real and, at times, aggravating problem with doors and drawers. You, kind sir, are simply amazing!!! Beautiful build; better video. Very respectfully, I have a minor concern, however. I am a JUCO educated welder. I worked in industry 12 months before I returned to college to get my baccalaureate degree. I would ask you sincerely to please cover any exposed skin when welding to protect you from infrared ray exposure. One of the very worst sunburns I ever got was not a true sunburn but was from exposure of my arms to SMAW (stick) welding rays while I repaired a flatbed trailer when I was still in welding school. I NEVER did that again. Protective clothing is hot in hot weather but very much worth it. I simply put my apron cover on (protected my arms and chest) right before I started to weld and took it off right after I broke the arc (and that was usually before I completely removed my hood). I learned the hard way. Not criticizing; just protecting and being informative and protective. This was another OUTSTANDING video!!! I enjoyed it thoroughly!!! Please send Joyce my warmest regards!!! thanks Charles. Yes I agree. Thing is I actuall strike an arc a total of about 20 minutes at a time about 2-3 times a year. My brother was a nuclear pipe welder for the Navy. It's his lincoln 'tombstone' welder that I'm using. It's the same welder he put together a go cart for me when I was in the third grade. He was qualified in everything that existed at the time. He welded with clothing, suckers, radiation, asbestos, and exotic metals that were first heated to 200 degrees. All of that finally did him in. I think of it every time I strike an arc on his old welder. On another note, drawing a bead is somehow very therapeutic for some reason. So, yes, I hear what you're saying.
That is the slickest way to clean a chimney !! I heated our old farmhouse with a small wood burning stove for over 25 years . I wish that I could have cleaned the chimney your way instead of climbing up on the roof with brushes and rods . Great video . Thanks .
Yes it is but this is a pellet stove. No creosote. I burned wood with an airtight stove long ago and the chimney cleaning once a month in the winter was not fun. And the creosote was not the film of black powder you see here.

In addition, when I was 17-18, by best friend and I thought nothing of being on the lake at daybreak fishing till noon, come in for lunch and a short nap, then fishing well past dark … where does the time go? Not really. I have a fan in the box to circulate air. I leave the cover up about an 8th inch just in case. Don't need the cover actually. I just use it to keep dust out in between uses.
It would be wise to regulate the power TO the trolling motor at 12v not 12.8v. 12.8v Lithium with a regulator to 12v output to the trolling motor. It will reduce speed coil burnout. (I BELIEVE)
Ha.. interesting you should say that. My two recent posts are about an electronic speed controller for two motors primarily because of this. Yes, I did find out the hard way.
I contacted Newport inquiring about the voltage range for my 55# thrust x series motor . They could not answer that question . They sent a link for pdf manual which doesn't mention using lithium batteries . Thanks for you great videos .
Yes, I did too. Same response. Minn Kota has warnings about running for very long higher than 85% using lithium. Lithium tends to put out a very steady current at the higher voltages for a longer time. Wet cells will sort of shrink back a bit under load. Lithium doesn't. Brushless motors don't seem to have this issue though. I notice that in those motors (pretty pricy) there have an electronic speed mechanism much like I made, already built in. Thanks for these last 2 videos . I have a new Newport Vessels 55# and a Power Queen 12.8 V 100ah battery . I have been looking on the internet and recommendations are to only run the trolling motor at 85% to keep from burning it up . I will try that first . Thanks .

Great! I'm finding it very useful. Much better than trying to work on heavier equipment off the side of a wall, and often better than setting up a couple of saw horses and sheet of plywood.
When you buy them they give you the open and closed length. I purchase one 'about' right then mount it after it arrives so that it's in the right place. They always arrive open as even closing it by hand is very difficult. So connect one end, then simply mount the other end. It will close properly and not bind.
True but up to a point. To get my bumper to clear the trailer I'd need a 16" hitch extender. You gain 100 lbs of tongue weight for every 12". And the kicker is that the only way to stop it from hitting the trailer is to extend the tongue. Extending the hitch keeps the pivot point the same so you can turn sharper but you still hit the trailer at the same point. I actually had to cut out a cardboard example to believe it.
Thank you for this presentation. This will be very useful for me. I purchased my NV SERIES 86 lb last year. In total, I used it for 5 and a half months and the rotary switch is already broken. Forwards it works from the 3rd position and backwards from the second. It happened suddenly. I wrote today to the company. I find it frustrating to have to pay $22 plus shipping for a bad product. I believe we are not the only ones with the problem of this poor quality part. I'm waiting for a return from Newport Vessels without much hope. Sad because it's a good engine but if it falls apart after a year, it's not as good!
Well, in the end I found out that the speed coil, way down in the motor was burned out. I have lithium and it gives off a bit higher voltage. They recommend no more than 85% open if using lithium. The switch doesn't really control the speed. It just switches different resistances from the speed coil in and out to vary the motors speed. I've since built an electronic speed controller that bypasses all of that. BTW... this is only a problem with brushed motors.

I searched in the instruction manual, without success. I have 2 lithium batteries from Aolithium. I haven't heard back from Newport Vessels yet. My engine is still under warranty (purchase in 2023). @@susansouthern6704 not a problem. I can answer here. The pain is gone, the numbness in my fingers is gone, and I think they’re almost back to normal. It’s hard to tell because as I get older, my fingers get a little more fumbling. But I’m very satisfied with the results.I understand that the goal is too arrest further development. But most people see some relief. I think I’m one of them. Best of luck with your operation.
Can you provide a link to that clamp you have on the trolling motor shaft? I’ve never seen anything like it before and I can’t tell I will be using it in a variety of applications.
I've had these as steering parts over the course of three boats now. Here is similar at home depot. They're called 'split ring pipe hangers'. They come in different sizes so if this 1" one isn't good for you search the name and you'll see all the others. You have to purchase and add the eye loop as it's not usually what screws in there. Right off the bat, no no and no. There is definitely adhesive between the two pieces... That piece of sudo rub rail is just covering where the two pieces come together.
Yes, I'm aware of that. Now the rub rail is also sealed. I wouldn't have taken apart the two halves to seal them on a new boat, but the seal isn't that great in many people's boats. Hence one area of filling up if left outdoors that people experience. I looked at mine and there was actually a gap where the seal didn't meet at the ends near the rear.
That's what I'm hoping for but a lot of people do get water in them and eventually they have the foam soaked up enough that it affects float level. Fingers crossed though.
You spoke about the cost of batteries versus gas/oil/grease but did not include the higher initial capital expense which is a big consideration that can't be ignored. Like you, I have my trusted 20 year old Toro 1028, so if I was replacing it, the price differential of a 10 hp 28" blower is another $1K...with the Ego being the greater. Amortize that capital difference in addition to the battery replacement results in a significant delta in the cost of ownership equation. Thanks for an informative video.
Yes... I'm 70 so I didn't consider that this time around. Not that I'm planning on dying any time soon but probably might not be moving blizzards in several years.
