Unless you are a liberal, don’t even consider Clintonville. I’ve live in Clintonville for 46 years and it has changed so much and not for the better. So many snowflakes that can’t let others have their own views. They either want you to change to their side or you are the enemy. God forbid people are different. I have owned my home in Clintonville for 33 years and am so excited to move into the country. People here threw a fit because Chick fil a is building a restaurant. Five Guys opened a restaurant and everyone hates it because it’s not Vegan and healthy. Duncan Donuts opened and everyone threw a hissy fit because the sign was too bright and they would have preferred the lot sat empty like it had got a while. School system is horrific. Failing school system for many years, yet they keep raising our property taxes to fund their failures. Find a suburb and skip Clintonville
Your videos are informative and entertaining! I lived in Dublin in the early 90’s (Marysville is my hometown). I’m planning to bring my mother in law for a weekend visit. It has changed so much in 30 years!
Thank you! You will find so much to do in the downtown/Bridge Park area! I'm sure it will be unrecognizable after 30 years! I hope you enjoy your weekend visit!
City of Columbus is $h!t show!!! They’re so pathetic they’re pushing out geographical boundaries, to Delaware , Fairfield and Union too forcing residents to pay Columbus City taxes. BS….WTF?!!!
Hi John, Where will you be moving from? We would love to set up a zoom call to find out what your needs are and see how we can help! Send us an email at liveincolumbusOH@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you, Melissa & Laura
Grew up in lower Arlington. You guys were so close to some great houses coming down Cambridge right before Scioto take a right on Oxford or club Road and go up alongside the golf course on club and then take a left at the top of the hill and there’s even more beautiful homes off the golf course.
LOL. Thank you?? ;) Whatever vibes we send out- we're just glad you're watching! Let us know if you ever think you may want to buy or sell a home in Central Ohio! No Realtor knows all the excellent adventures of Columbus like us!
@@liveincolumbus As part of becoming a family historian (an outcome I didn't foresee when I went searching for my orphaned grandfather's family), I spent a lot of time trying to imagine my ancestors' lives in Columbus. Family historians go beyond collecting birth, marriage and death data, and into ancestors' membership in various communities (so churches, neighborhoods, etc.). I had crucial help from the archivists at the Catholic Record Society, Diocese of Columbus (which is where I learned the address for that shack by the railroad). I was also surprised to learn that Rev. Fr. Dennis A. Clarke, Pastor of Holy Family Church, brought the Vincent orphans to St. Vincent's Orphans Asylum, because I had previously watched a WOSU Columbus Neighborhoods episode where the current pastor was interviewed, in front of the stained-glass window, commemorating Fr. Clarke's Abstinence work. It was also an unfortunate clue why they were living at 474 Kimbell Street: Alcoholism. My worst fears were confirmed when one of my orphaned great uncles 4th great granddaughters posted his recollections of his childhood. So what would they be thinking today, beyond the noticing the scale of buildings and shiny new tech? I suspect they would also notice that people in Franklinton still struggle with the same issues they did in 1892: inequality and addiction. The worst part of being a family historian can be watching history repeat, but we Americans always overcome and rebuild. I love to see Franklinton coming back. Watching family history become US History was another outcome I did not foresee ;) Thanks to Laura & Melissa for spreading the good news!
@@denisevincent4050 , very insightful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and family history! Have you been on the walking tour of Franklinton, through Columbus Food Adventures? I've done many of their tours, but not the Franklinton one yet. It's on my list! One of my favorite things that we learned about Franklinton while doing our video was about the Franklinton Gardens...how they turned vacant land or lots with dilapidated homes into a solution, by growing food for the underserved in the community and also selling that food at farmer's markets to fund education programs.
@@liveincolumbus : I've never been in Franklinton, but though I had hoped to make a genealogical tour, rheumatism caught me in my 50s, so now I'm a poor traveler. Most of my trips when I was younger were to historic sites, in North America and Europe, so it's not as if I never got to see the world, just not Franklinton. I've lived in several neighborhoods that were undergoing renovations by urban pioneers, in Savannah (where I got to restore a little bungalow to meet historic preservation requirements) and in Seattle (where I live on historic Jackson Street, in a neighborhood redesignated as an Urban Village). The major north/south street in my area had been slated to be replaced by an interstate bypass, but neighborhood activists fought it, and funding for massive interstates was harder to find during the Vietnam Era, so the neighborhood was left to deteriorate while lingering in limbo. Once Seattle's Urban Villages plan was launched, this major route was redesigned from four lanes to two lanes and a turn lane, for traffic calming. It's carrying more traffic than ever, which gives our healthcare workers and university staffs plenty of time to admire our renewal (and to shop for little bungalows for themselves) as they commute in from more distant suburbs in the south. But hey, the City has maps that can show Urban Village maps, with our P-Patches (community gardens) included. And yes, Patch Produce often shows up at our farmers markets too;) www.seattle.gov/documents/Departments/OPCD/OngoingInitiatives/SeattlesComprehensivePlan/UrbanVillageMaps.pdf
Ohio is ranked number 22 out of the 50 states, in order of the average amount of property taxes collected. We found that and other statistics here: tax-rates.org Let us know if you need more resources!
You must be looking at Franklin county property tax. And you are right, Franklin county has CRAZY HIGH property tax. I have to pay 6000 a year on a 2 bedroom 1 bath house. A neighbor with a bigger house is paying 22,000 a year. January 24, it will be even worse because of reappraisal and levies that passed. Franklin county is on the way to becoming the highest property taxed county in the US.
Several tax websites detail how Ohio taxes compare nationally, like this website: www.tax-rates.org/ohio/property-tax It shows Ohio is ranked number 22 out of the 50 states, in order of the average amount of property taxes collected. Let us know if you need more resources!
Ohio has 88 counties. 85 of the 88 have reasonable/low property tax. So to get an average, they've taken all 88 counties, added it up then divided what the 85 along with the hideously high property tax in 3 counties. 3 of the counties have WAY higher than average property tax, Franklin, Cuyahoga, Hamilton. Franklin is the worst. Franklin will probably be number 1 in the US for high property tax in Jan 24 because of the reappraisal and the levies that passed. So that number 22 doesn't fit all counties. All property tax is local, not state. Going by the state average is misleading.@@liveincolumbus
Grew up in Columbus, north east side, I-270 and Cleveland Ave area. Moved to Montana 20 years ago. I do not miss Ohio winters or summers. I miss the food options. Don't miss the traffic at all. OH---IO!!!! Buckeye forever!!

Thanks! Isn't Grove City lovely to live and play... and with the new hospital system and recent announcement from Honda on growth in that area, jobs are growing in that region, too!
I have lived in and around Columbus my entire life. (Lived in Hilliard from birth to age 33.) I was born at Grant Hospital and my parents said there was major construction going on that day. They barely got to the hospital in time for my birth. There’s been construction since!😂 👷♀️👷🚧🏗🦺
I lived in Ohio for years in my 20’s and one thing I can say is people take care of themselves WAY more then here in Sonoma County, CA. Ohio girls have their nails and hair did. Here people go to dinner in their pajamas and no one bats an eye. Ohio people people are more LA then LA and I the amount of hot people is stupid but they are nice too.
Could you please continue to create videos for additional cities in OH like Westerville, Worthington, New Albany, Newark, etc? This gives me an idea of areas to consider. I liked Dublin so far. Thank you in advance!
Hi Eva! We have plans to keep making videos we just need to work through some production hiccups. We do have a Westerville video, so please check that out. Hopefully that will give you a little insight on Westerville. Where do you currently live? Are you thinking of moving to Columbus? If so, we would love to help you find a home!
@@liveincolumbus Great, thank you so much for the helpful videos. We currently live in bay area, CA. We are considering to move to the Columbus area between Oct 2023-2024. Thanks for the offer.
