Additionally, I have recently started getting into the RC hobby, something I always wanted to do as a kid, and now I am doing it together with my boys.
I had the exact issue I fixed it by cleaning of the ground strap on the passenger side right above the rack, it was covered in oil from valve cover leak, I also replaced the fuel filter at the same time so that may have been it as well
I just bought the thinkcar tpms G2. They said its the better than the G1. I replace two rear tpms sensor but I could only read 2 of them and if I attempt to read the other two, it would display as "duplicate" It work on my car that already have 4 sensor working. After I got the two rear activated, I try to program it and it would say "sensor not detected" from the sensor thay is activated. I try it on both my mobile and Mucar V06 Got any tips for me
Great video with lots of learning from trial and error. One thing I’d like to know more about is adjusting the lower “gold” bolts… Mine have washers on the inside and outside. And the bolts have a flathead slot. Does anyone know how far those bolts should be tightened? And how does that effect the snugness of the window?
Lenny thanks! I had the same issue and found that small piece was the arm that actuates the micro switch. My arm for the switch fell off, I did find it and had to take the latch partially out, do a little bending, then I installed the arm then the latch and presto, lift gate works great. I almost bought a new latch actuator off eBay, but you video was awesome.
You are missing the lever on the blue micro switch, mine disappeared in to the air somewhere. I cant' get a new micro switch for 2 dollars, or find a replacement lever. Now I have to find a replacement latching mechanism for 400 dollars???? I will convert to manual liftgate for 40 dollars then. You however, can replace the lever by removing the latch assembly to make it easier to work on, takes 5 minutes to remove all the panels, and 2 minutes to remove the latch itself.

I finally fixed it! I replaced the DME with a used one (out of a 525i, but still for the M54 engine) after upgrading the firmware and changing the VIN. I sync’d the EWS as well. The engine started right up and now several thousand miles later I have not had a reoccurrence of the bouncing idle issue. I haven’t yet tried to figure out what’s wrong with the original DME.
Same problem here. Won’t activate sensors in tires on vehicles with the TPMS system working perfectly I gave up on the first one when I sent the video and pictures etc and they never responded. That seller has gone inactive on eBay so I bought another one from a vendor here in the USA……so far, same thing……grrrr
I have this problem at the moment, only when car is not moving and engine is idling .. First noticed the intake boot has some small cracks so replaced that and i noticed the rough idling has improved but not eliminated completely, the rpm needle still moves randomly up and down. what drives me crazy is that other times it works perfectly for a day or two. I only use Shell fuel which in the UK is supposed to be the best. I'm sure it's nothing to do with the spark plugs and/or coils .. it's more like air and fuel system problem. but can't pin point the problem.

It took me modifying the unit and going through several firmware updates before it finally started working. Just got to test it the other day for the first time since modification and fw updates and was able to read 3 of 4 tpms sensors on a 2007 328xi. Assuming one of them is bad. The modification is described in one or more comments on this video. But essentially, I opened it up and moved the sensor up against the plastic. I believe I also removed something that was covering the sensor. It’s been a while now, but read the comments and you’ll find what I’m talking about. Good luck!
I was able to get this tpms g2 to work on a subaru Forrester 2013. All my sensors except one were dead. The thinkcarpros does work and the sensor I'd. But I had ti have a known good sensor. The g2 and the thinktoolpro s have to be linked and held next to each other at the tire. Hitting activate on g2 sends sensor info to the thinktoolpros tpms feature. The sensor info will be displayed on thinktoolpro if they are held clise to each other. I think leaving the thinkpro tool on car seat is too far.
Finally got mine to work on everything that it previous work not connect with. Place G1 on rubber if tire next to rim below sensor. The RF in this thing is weak will not pass thru wheel metal.
First of all you don’t picked the area of where the car was made, but for what market it was done for, me for example even though my car is Japanese it was made for the American market. When trying to read the sensor don’t put the tpms G1 y the valve stern and the metal part of the ring, you have to placed it on the rubber part of the tire by the valve. good luck.
I ran into the same problem with activating the sensors. What I figured out on my own first upgrade the software for both tablet and the G1. After the failed attempt go to you home screen on your tablet and open the icon feedback there it will tell you what upgrades you need and follow the screen instructions. Make sure you look at the manufacturer placard inside the driver side frame to check what year it was made along with the month. It will also tell you the region in which it was manufactured. If you follow this comment you should be in warp speed repairs.
Thank you SO much! I thought everything was updated after I activated my new Thinktool scanner. Per your post, I just went to “Upgrade” and found that there were 112 updates to be downloaded. I did that and then updated the G1 and now everything works!!! You made my day!
We can't bring the back gate open. I tried the manual release and it won't open it. My wife had a dead battery yesterday and was wondering if that blew a fuse to the gate? But the real issue is that the manual release does not work. What if this was a real emergency? They should have a panel on the side with a very visible handle latch. Taking it to the dealer. I'm not as knowledgeable & mechanical as you sir. Thanks for posting.

My boyfriend has the think tool mini and the G1 and it's his assumption that it's possible while you're using the settings and you select an Asia vehicle you're actually supposed to click America because you are not located in Asia but rather America. Try it and see.
I had trouble reading the sensors until I opened it, I removed a piece of foam from the sensor and made a tear with a barrier in the plastic so that it would have less interference. So far it's working fine 👍
i just received my TPMS G1 today and I tried it out while paired also to my Thinktool Pro S. I tested it out on my 2016 Toyota Highlander, my 2010 Ford F150, and my 2020 Toyota 4Runner. Based on this video I was worried it wasn't going to work, but fortunately I was able to quickly scan and read the TPMS sensors for my 3 vehicles and for all their tires. It didn't fail to read any tire. One thing I did notice in this video that might have thrown off his reading for the Subaru was that he chose Asian Vehicles when selecting the Subaru. Through my research you need to select what "market" the vehicle is sold for and not necessarily where the parent company is located. For instance, for my 2 toyota cars I chose American Vehicles and selected Toyota then chose my sub-models. Perhaps this was the specific problem for the Subaru in this video, or maybe he just received a faulty TPMS G1.
heads up also if you scan jeep grand cherokee 2015 up the scan tool will set all kind of can bus dtcs trying to communicate with it and doesnt seem to respond well as far as clearing those codes either
Yes, I figured it out and should have posted an update. After replacing the lock in the liftgate with a known good, all problems with the power liftgate went away. In other words, the lift gate started working as designed, under its own power. It was the lock!
this is exact issue im having … everything you pointed out including the metal sensor strip and the lock . every aspect is spot on. thank you bc this explains my problem perfectly. was final resolution once you manually got it - did someone replace that metal sensor strip also ?
ok so your advice i got the gate opening and closing manually . but now electronics won’t open or close i have to press and hold for 10 seconds and get the lock to disengage and then i can open and do the same to shut
@@travisclifton2781 , I replaced the lock actuator/mechanism and problem was solved. So, the entire assembly unbolts from the bottom of the lift gate when it’s in the open position. I found the part on eBay, replaced it and all is well now.
NO - I have the same issue with my G1 via the phones android APP. If anyone has a solution for this please help. I bought mine as an early bird kickstarter - and came with 4 of their tire pressure sensors. These new ones are not recognized either. Tried to scan 5 different cars - no success.
I just took delivery of one of these yesterday, I bound it to my phone/ThinkDiag dongle ok. First try was my 06 Toyota Rav4 (T180) (I'm in the UK) which has been parked up for a while, I got no readings, so I then tried my 2016 VW Touareg (R-Line 262) again no readings. It was cool outside and the VW hadn't been used since Saturday. My initial thoughts were that the G1 wasn't transmitting, so I have an old RF/IR detector, for testing remote keyfobs, so I pointed the G1 at it and pressed the OK button, the detector lit up showing the G1 was transmitting, but it has a very short range, effective range is pretty much 100mm (4") I tried both cars again today, still nothing on the Toyota but this time I was able to activate all the Touareg sensors ok and within a few seconds of pressing the OK button. I found the best position to hold the G1 was with the end of the G1 (where it has TPMS raised letters in the rubber) pressing against the edge of the alloy rim adjacent to the sensor and the front body of the tool resting against the tyre. The transmitter end of the tool appears to emit in a spherical shape around the end of the tool. Until buying this tool I always thought that the TPMS sensors were perhaps piezo powered with a capacitor to store the charge (I've never seen TPMS sensor batteries for sale) I'll have another try with the Toyota sensors tomorrow, but chances are if they are battery powered and close to 16 years old, then good chance they are all dead now, though the TPMS worked last time it was driven. I use the THINKDIAG+ app (Android) in my manufacturer options I only get Europe and America to choose from.
I have the same problem, but discover that, its a problem whit the antenna power, because if you remove the tire sensor you can read de Id , better use autel tool, it never fails,
