We have been to the hotel several times now from the U.K. since I retired we went in April then six weeks later again we wanted to go out before the hotel was renovated this month we were hit by hurricane beryl on the second week we were there but the hotel staff were fantastic at making sure we were all safe the hotel was running on its generator afterwards for a few days but some of the staff had not been home for five days so we could be feed we will be back to see how much the hotel has changed after the renovation we have been to a few places around the world but Jamaica is the place we love to chill out and relax now we are getting older
The ala carte restaurants are The Holiday inn are actually really good. The Italian (Sorento) The Sea Breeze and the Gourmet Jamaican restaurant were all really good. We didn't try the Japanese which isn't free. I think it's $29.00 per person. Also the Jerk Hut was pretty tasty. I agree with the buffet being pretty bad, but you'll always find something you'll like. It's hit or miss for sure, some days were decent, some days were pretty bad lol I hope this information can be useful to anyone considering going to Holiday inn, now known as Catalonia.
My experience: JG has nothing that other hotels and resorts don't also have. The thing that makes all the difference is the service and genuine warmth of all staff. You can feel the love, and it never felt fake or forced.
My only problem with this riu is that after 12 there is no food and the suites are far away from the restaurants etc. Next time i will book a room closer to the pools etc
I just got back from this resort July 5th 2024 I absolutely love it here my wife and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary everyone here is so nice and respectful the GM Louis took care of our save return to the airport because of the hurricane that passed. Love you Jamaica 🇯🇲 ❤️ I will be coming back in March 2025 much love from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 and Guyana 🇬🇾
We will be going back since I retired five years ago from the UK for the seventh time this coming Sunday we have been to a few places a round the world but we find the hotel has what we want for s chilled out time at what ever pace you want to go at the staff work hard to make your stay a great one we have made a few friends now with the staff and the local saleers at the beach huts😊
He gave 5/5 for customer service, you gave 4/5. You said you interacted with fewer people than he did. You also cited no negatives in those interactions. So, what in those interactions denied them that extra point that would have made it a perfect 5/5 ?
The Palace Rius have room service. I hope y’all check out Palace Montego Bay so you can review. I’m thinking of staying there. I recently stayed at Palace Aquarelle and loved it
Sorry you had that experience, when we went almost a year a go there was no sea weed in the swimming areas and the jerk hut had the best food. Overall this hotel is below average to us, but we will do an updated review shortly.
Save your money. Poor service, useless beach, outdated and worn furniture, poor facility maintenance, hot restaurants, no there isn’t a dinner buffet, and endless amount of steps to get around.

I am planning weekend get away for me and my wife and not sure where to go.looking at RUI Montego Bay because of the club ut I like the intimacy of Jewel so I am torn HELP !!! lol
We loved Jewels Paradise Cove for the intimate vibe but Riu has more entertainment. The food was good at both, but for that special couple time we always choose jewel
I went 2 years ago I’m going back this year I agree with her the food is forsure good we went to a Jamaican restaurant in the city and I can for sure say the resort was way better the restaurant we ate at
Tough choice, our Ocho Rios experience was not the greatest but Negril definitely had a vibe, however Ocho Rios was recently renovated so it looks much nicer but the food at Negril was better in our opinion
Montego Bay hotels rates have gotten ridiculous. Royal DeCameron and Holiday Inn places like that that are dumpy even those are $360 a night. If you want to stay somewhere nice you'll pay $700 a night. That is stupid, the island is going to loose all kinds of business
Thanks guys good reviews re Riu's Ocho and Montego . You guys should go to Riu, Negril as well. But pick Riu Palace is a better choice. The hotel is next to each other. We will go to ocho rios riu in december 😊
