Hi Jacqui. Great tutorial. I am preparing to teach moon salutations this week so am refreshing my knowledge by watching some other teachers tutorials. When teaching, however, I can never decide if I should teach it backward (left to right) since I am usually facing my students. Do you have any tips on this? It's hard to say left when I am going right but I don't want my students to get confused. I've thought about just turning the opposite way so they are looking at my back but that is not ideal. Any tips or tricks?
Hi Alisa, thanks! If you mean you're facing your students, as in the long sides of your mats are all in the same direction, I would tend to say mirror your students. Especially since the Moon Salutation moves sideways on the mat, and I find it can get a bit confusing for the students to follow when they also have to think about doing the opposite to you. I personally would not have the students looking at your back, because then you can't see what they're doing. I know it gets super confusing to say "right" when you mean "left". I still do this, but most students don't care if you make that mistake. We're all human! Some ways I try to help myself are: 1) taking a split second more time to think about saying "right" or "left" before I say it; 2) look at the student standing in front of me and imagining myself as them; 3) if you're walking around the class making corrections, then you'll probably be facing the same direction as them already; 4) practising the sequence out loud at home saying the opposite sides. Hope those help you out a bit more!
Great explanation. I sleep very well after this practice and I will make it my routine. Will do the same with sun salutation. A great way to open and close a day and be grateful❤
That the best moon salutation I have watched, smooth, even someone that never did it, can learn to do. Every poses are perfect moving sequence, excellent.
i loved doing this one! i had actually been adding a pyramid pose into my sun salutations because i wanted more leg stretching. i love that the moon salutation is more lower body focused. definitely adding this to my daily practices. thank you for the clear & helpful instructions!
Jacqui, this video kicked my ass!! I had to stop it before it was over but I fully intend to return to it and make it to the end and then repeat until it feels easy! 💪🙌 🙏🙏
Yes,I found this helpful. This is the first indepth explanation I've ever seen. Proper form is important, especially to avoid injury. Thank you. Subscribed ✨️
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! Unfortunately I have no control over ads on my channel as it's not monetized. The feature to remove mid-roll ads is only available to those who have a monetized account. I totally know how you feel, as I've also been mid-exercise when ads play, and it's super annoying. I wish I could do something about it 🙁
Such a wonderful flow. Really the best one I found too. grateful to connect and learn. Look forward to trying out the 30 day challenge. All The best 🌻🌈
I look forward to moon salutation. I'm an evening yogi so I prefer the calm and cooling connection to the nature ... as the night comes so do the cooling temps (usually). Thank you so much!
I've been working on my front splits for a year and a half now and haven't made any progress over the last 6 months. Looking forward to integrating this routine in my training - maybe this will be the breakthrough? I love the start already. I'm so focused and calm after the intro.
You're welcome! 😊 There really is no set number of cycles you need to do. It all depends on how you're feeling on that day, whether or not you did some other movement before or after, your mood, what benefits you want to get out of it etc. You could start with 2 and see how you feel after that.
