Ruth, there are beautiful paper OS maps that you can buy. Are you completely helpless without your Iphone? Come on, you must be more resourceful, and more independent than that! What would you do if the batteries ran out?
How cool; I could see my flat when you were filming from the Ferry! 😄 (just) I live in South Shields, the ferry docks over the water from me. Love your wee van btw ♥️
A great video. Deer (stags) can be aggressive during the rutt, I believe. I bought a Jetboil a few years ago and I se they haven't improved the design of the ringy thing that is supposed to help you adjust the gas flow. I bought the next size up from you so that I could pack it better. I agree, they are not worth the money.
Leaving supplies for the next to use. So Kind/Generous. Leaving your waste behind like that? Inconsiderate/So disrespectful. It's actually not bad. I would not stayed without 2 protections, my dog & an ax at least.
Fabulous video again Ruth. We were lucky to stay with friends in remote cottages in the Kyle's Morar , travelling from Malaig to Knoydart then another boat across to the Kyle's. An amazing place, so lovely to see again through your eyes, thank you ! Love your interesting, very different journeys. Take care ! Xx
Thats girl has bigger balls than me no way would i sleep tere wouldnt be able to sleep be up awake all night keepin on my guard incase some creature would sneek in an cut my throat in the middle of the night.
Yep = Powerful, walking in the step of so many of the brave.... My Great great Uncle is buried in Estaires Communal Cemetery, Joseph Edward Hobson, Aged 25, Private Worcestershire Regiment, he was killed 12th March 1915 at the Battle of Neuve-Chapelle. I've stood in the field where he was killed by gunfire. Last time i visited Tyne Cot, there was a wreath on the bunker in the centre from the Brother of Lee Rigby, even into modern times, sacrifices are made...
Ruth, we visited Belgium from California for a friend’s wedding. After seeing your post about WW1 we decided to visit Tyne Cot. It was an extremely emotional visit for my wife, not because of a familial connection, but because of the sights and sounds. Thank you so much for your post.
Hi Norman, thank you for your comment. I am glad you and your wife could also visit. It's a very emotional place. I guess it probably looks quite different this time of year compared to the snowy scenes in January.
Hello Ruth. That was a beautiful place, and to see the seals heads bobbing up in the sea was lovely 😊 I personally don't like Whiskey, but I don't mind a small brandy or a small port 😊 thank you for showing all of the beautiful places in Scotland. I'm originally from Essex. I don't have white stilettos, though 😅
Doesn’t sound like complaining or negativity to me. Sounds like a life experience you will never forget. New to your channel. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Takes some 🥎🥎‘s to stay out there all on your own 😄 Well done, though! I’d have been a bit nervous as well. Really enjoying your videos. Sat here with a coffee sifting through ☕️ 👌
There's a yearly Paps of Jura race. Went through the Correyvreckan whirlpool on Waverley paddle steamer in May and it was fairly lively. Calmac dont sail to Jura , its Highland council that runs the ferry.
Get a Blue Yeti portable charging station it charges while you drive. Or solar or charging station anywhere. You contact them they might gift you one for advertising.
Seems that when land is owned by the Community it just looks a mess and badly run. I know the village well as have visited it for 70 Years. The community garden says most occupiers are lazy.
Sounds awful dog attack- scary.... ! Sounds like you're learning how to deal with it...sometimes not easy! Take care, all the best, Robbie from San Francisco Bay Area
Really enjoyed your adventure! What a beautiful coastline. I wonder if the ocean gets really rough there or is it sheltered? Glad the community is planting trees !
Good morning Ruth well you continued on to the end of remote island bunkhouse looked very comfortable the sewing machine well who knows and a distillery always needed but your trip back to your van kool idea take care 😘🌸🌿🥃🚗
There was a time between now and the last ice age when this whole area would have tree cover (except for the rocks). 7000 years ago there was an event which changed the weather (possibly a meteor in Argentina) all over the world. It was about this time the Sahara changed from a green and fertile land to a desert in 200 years. But Scotland/Norway/Sweden/etc.. lost a lot of forests at this time as it became too wet for large trees to survive.
These deer appear to be OK with people as they are fed in winter. However avoid the rut. The male deer, stag, will take on ALL comers for and to keep a territory. And they are well armed to defend and attack.
