I am using this comment page to tell you important news . Apologies. Go to ExtraPeople - casting- major film filming in Glasgow in November. Extras needed. I hope this is OK.
Another wonderful video, yet another place for my bucket list. The whole area there looks so natural, I bet it would b great for camping there too. I've not seen any of the Harry Potter films, so wouldn't recognise some of the places, so will have to borrow the series from my son. What exactly is a veggie full English breakfast, which I'm sure I heard you mention early on? Another thing you mentioned were the midges and how gin and tonic helps keep them off. On my trips to Scotland, I've only ever had whisky so wouldn't know about that. But I must admit that on none of my trips there did I ever come across midges so I guess I was lucky. As always I've added this video to my ever-growing collection of your wonderful work. Hopefully it won't be too long before I'm on my feet again and can visit some of these wonderful places that you've shown us.
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment! I really hope you can get back on your feet as soon as possible. I’m sending you my best wishes. Oh no I had forgotten that I had already shared the gin&tonic tip… thanks for pointing it out 🤣 I shouldn’t give away secrets so easily! By the way a veggie full Scottish/English breakfast is just a vegetarian or vegan version of a full breakfast, so you’ll have vegan sausages and haggis and so on, it’s really good 🤗 enjoy the HP saga if you do start it. It’s really enjoyable and the landscapes are incredible.
In the Glenfinnan train station there is a museum dedicated to Sir Robert McAlpine, born in Motherwell, who built, among other things, the Glenfinnan viaduct, just part of the railway from Fort William to Mallaig. It gave the story of his life, starting with working in mines when he was 7. I found it all very interesting. What a man!
Yes that was a very interesting story!! He started from the very bottom and look what he’s done. I read he was involved in the tunnelling for the Glasgow subway, too…!

Dear Giorgia, you’re most welcome and thanks for your comment! 🤗 Glad I could help. I let the employee at the post office advise me and I’m pretty sure it was a tracked one… Having to send my original Italian licence, I wanted to have peace of mind 😬
I sensed you were a little homesick for Lake Como. I missed home after almost a month in Belfast. There is a tune by Eliott called " Home" you might like. And the tartan plate😂
Actually I’m not homesick at all for the moment, quite happy to be in Scotland 🤣 oh yes there’s a whoooole lotta tartan in my grandma’s house on Lake Como 🤣 Love the London to Glasgow train picture.
Sorry your September was not good. I was mostly in Belfast - a city I TOTALLY recommend to you. I think you would enjoy the vibrant atmosphere- also, of course, home - apparently- of Game of Thrones - which I have never seen. Good vibes for October.
I know, I should really go to Belfast, and will go sooner or later. I’m a huge GOT fan so I’d like to do the tour and also see the Titanic museum. Thank you, good vibes to you, too!! 🙏🏻
George was doing a film shot in the streets of our village for the magazine Vanity Fair, and after finishing he made himself available to anyone who wanted to have their photo taken with him. It was such a nice gesture from such a famous star.
I just got back from one of your recommendations a few days ago, Copenhagen. Very nice and very walkable. Surprisingly, not as expensive as I thought it would be. The only downside was that the Tivoli Gardens were closed while they are redecorating. Gives me an excuse to go back 😄
UGH IT’S ALWAYS TIVOLI GARDENS, isn’t it? 😂 Two years ago I *ran* to visit it because I found out 2 hours before closing time that it would be closed for months from the following day. Spent a fortune for a rushed visit, so, like you, I always said I’ve got a reason to go back 😁 Glad you enjoyed CPH! If I’m not mistaken it just won in the category “Cities with best quality of life” because it’s so walkable!
Ahahah I’ve heard he’s always very nice and kind! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a Harley Davidson 👀 (but perhaps now he’s not a bachelor anymore he drives something different lol)
Very useful video. If for any reason I eventually decide to come back to Italy for few years, can I use the exchanged uk driving licences there without the need of recharge it? I want to be sure so if that’s possible then I’ll change my own as well :) Also, as you said that you issued your licence in 2013, how long would the exchange licence be valid for?
Thank you for commenting, glad it was useful! 😊 If you move back to Italy and shift your residence back there, after one year of residence you’ll need to exchange it back with an Italian one. You can drive in Italy with your British driving licence however long it is if you’re just there on holiday. I got my Italian driving licence at the end of 2013 and it expired in June 2024 (on my birthday, as they do). So it basically lasted 10 years and a half (depending on when your birthday is, but it’s valid for 10 years more or less). Hope this helps!
@@camyinwonderworld ok :) so let me understand properly before going ahead with the exchange: I’ve issued my Italian driving licence in 2019 and it will expire in 2030. So, if I change it now, would the exchanged one expire as it was in the Italian one or it will be extended for 10 years? ( like… let’s say 2024 now till 2035)
Well, I’m not 100% sure so I would ask the embassy or do further research, but given my experience my new UK driving licence is going to expire in April 2034 (and I got it in April 2024), so I would think the expiration date of the European one doesn’t really matter, once you get the UK one it’s going to expire 10 years later.
Hi Camy, another entertaining and well edited video. I believe the ruins glimpsed briefly in your video are of Ruthven Barracks, built in the early eighteenth century to help control the highlands after the first Jacobite uprising. keep enjoying your travels! Regards....
Hello John, thanks very much for your comment, I’m glad you enjoyed this video, too! I searched the location of Ruthven Barracks on Maps and I see it’s on the road from Aviemore to Pitlochry so that must be it. Very interesting. Thanks for letting us know!
Great video, very well put together and interesting. It brings back memories as I have been to all the locations you showed, apart from the bar at the end, which I will need to catch the next time I am over. All the best.
Thanks very much for your comment, I really appreciate it. Arran Botanicals is a lovely bar, both indoors and out on the beach. Yes do go next time! All the best to you, too 😀
Thank you for watching! If you mean the one at 00:53 there’s no cheese in it, although it might look like it. They were panelle (square fried chickpea fritters) under the potato croquettes!
How many people did you invite for dinner? 😅 as a Scottish person i am happy to eat parts of animals not commonly eaten- used often in haggis. But the mest market in Palermo took it to another level. Also in Rome they talk about the fifth quarter of a cow - left and right front and rear quarters, and the fifth quarter is everything inside- lungs, stomach, organs such as liver and kidneys - we call offal ( maybe you say AWFUL) 😅
Well I had pasta one day, caponata di melanzane another day… I didn’t eat the whole shopping in one sitting! 🤣 Yes awffful sounds more like it, sorry 🙊 Even though I agree with eating every part of an animal once you kill it, it is very reasonable and “respectful” (still considering I don’t agree with the killing per se).
Lol Norway is the one country I feel totally safe in as I grew up here (90’s and 2000’s) and living here still (Oslo). Tho of course always take precautions especially as a single/lone woman. No matter how safe, don’t go out alone at night if in a big city and in certain parts due to junkies, homeless people, gangs, and in general drunk people. Apart from that, it’s fine. Just know your surroundings and the social norms and cues on how to act. Don’t stare people in the eyes. Seen as rude. And even if just curious it can lead to being jumped if the wrong people, like youngsters and teen age gangs. Let people know where you’re going. In general Scandinavia and the Nordics in general is safe. Especially Iceland.
I travelled by myself to Norway and Iceland and wandered alone in Copenhagen, too, and I must say I always felt very safe in Nordic/Scandinavian countries… Perhaps the best places to start travelling alone as a woman, if one has never tried before. By the way, I really loved Oslo!! Especially the sauna in front of the Opera (dip in the fjord included) while it was snowing. Wow!
Another lovely video, and the food does look delicious. I've not eaten today yet, so I notice it even more. That looks like another lovely place to visit, some interesting architecture there too. And yes, another for my bucket list. It reminds me a bit of Christmas, wondering what is going to be unwrapped next, which lovely location we shall see next. Hopefully I'll be more mobile again soon, I have my fingers crossed; hospital assessment tomorrow for them to decide if I'm in good enough health to have surgery. Keep us supplied with your excellent choice of places to visit. Your videos really do stand out on RU-vid.
Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the beautiful comment about my videos. I hope you had a nice meal after having to watch so much food ahah I really like the Christmas metaphor ☺️ Best wishes on your assessment, hope you can get your surgery soon! Take care!
9:11: You misunderstood. That was another expedition by a Britain named Scott, who tried to compete against the Norwegians, but failed very spectacularly. No Norwegian would ever bring a pony to the Antarctica. That is something only a Briton would do. :) As for slaughtering of animals, that's been a necessity for life for a very long time. It's good to be a vegetarian, but that would not have been survivable in our country.
@@camyinwonderworldhi Did you put in the envelope when you’ve sent it, only the driving license or the passport aswell? Only the license Or The license + passport? Thanks
Thanks. The sharecode part was a big relief for me. I definietly do not want to send my passport to them. Parcels and letters "sometimes" get lost at Royal Mail....
You’re very welcome! 😊 I’m afraid I don’t know the details, sorry. There must be, but I don’t know if it depends solely on age or on the driving licence, too. In Italy there are cars for “neopatentati” (people who just got their driving licence), they’re 75 cavalli, so there must be…
If you sometime will come to Montenegro, I will be interested to know your opinion about this country. I have been there several times. I really like the silence at one little-known town. The main thing is not to go to Budva :) There are a lot of tourists there in summer :)
A few years ago I lived in Greece for 3 months (1 in Athens and 2 in Corfú) and while there I had a half idea of visiting Albania and Montenegro, but then I never got round to it… 🥲 A friend of mine went there with her campervan this summer and sent me photos of amazing beaches… Thanks for the tip! I should really stop going places in July/August but I’m always desperate to escape the Scottish summer … 😅😂
