We were just in Puglia and Bascilicata a week or so ago. Keep in mind that the buses are much less frequent in the off-season. So while you can get around, it may take a lot longer depending on where you want to go. The coast is well-served by the train line, but the interior is not. Again, I'm talking about off-season.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I didn’t get many public buses last year (2), mostly trains, ferries and private buses. I checked the service of private buses from Miccolis bus company and I see that for instance tomorrow there’s 2 from Salerno to Matera, one at 7.10 am (the one I got) and one in the afternoon. Surely fewer than the ones I saw last July. While from Matera to Monopoli there’s not one for days, it might be because they’re fully booked but probably there’s less in low season, as you say. Also, I checked the public buses from Monopoli to Alberobello: the only direct one seems to be at 10.56 am, the same I got. Unfortunately I don’t seem to find other direct ones during the day. Hope you had a great journey, anyway!!

Another lovely informative video. I don't think I would travel those distances without actually driving, as just walking is too much for me at present. Driving on the other side of the road was never a problem, I drove my American friends on a 5 country road trip back in 2011, and found it without problems at all. Some of these places you travel to make me want to travel more again, though I cannot now hire a vehicle because of my age, despite the fact that most of my working life I spent driving various vehicles. On that road trip we made, our last port of call was Laon in France, and the medieval city. If you've never been there, it's well worth a visit, especially the cathedral. I love the bit in this video where the swan wanted to get in on the act, we have a lot of swans here and I'm always a bit wary whenever they're close, especially when they have cygnets. I look forward to seeing your next video, as always.

It must be really annoying when you can't hire a car because of age, especially when you don't have any issues and you are fully capable of driving. I also don't mind driving on either side of the road, I do mind having the steering wheel on the other side of the car in the U.K. though ahah I'm still not used to it! I have not been to Leon yet, thanks for the tip. I didn't see any cygnet around, but I might go back in a few days to check (from a distance, this time haha)... I hope I will see them! That's very good to know, thanks! I'm heading to Sicily this summer and I was afraid it would be trickier... I'm afraid I'll have to sacrifice some remote beaches anyway, but we'll see! 🤞 Where there's a will, there's a way lol

@@camyinwonderworld well remote beaches will stay remote for you but you will easily reach Cefalu, Palermo, Taormina, Siracusa/Ortigia (my fav), or Castellamare del Golfo. I think south of Sicily is worst connected

To be fair I don’t know how reliable those pharmacy thermometers are 😂 Those days there were around 38 degrees in Matera, it was BOILING. But I don’t think it actually reached 43… 🧐

Atrani ❤❤❤ My experience of Italian bus drivers is that they are never off their phones, Prego! Prego! 😂 I think the swan is after some scran or maybe just wants to photobomb your vlog 😂

Atrani is special. Now that you mention it, last time I was on a minibus in Florence a driver was talking over the phone….. I’ll forever wonder about the reasons behind that swan approaching me 😂 🦢

That little pier was full of small spiders, and the swan was there, too, but thankfully I didn’t see any snake!! 🤞🏻 🙏🏻 😱

I remember on one of your Trips down south, possibile AMALFI, .you started running because you were afraid a snake would pop out as you were passing! But I think the swan was just hungry.

Ahh that’s right it was during a walk from Amalfi to Atrani! Thankfully I didn’t see any snake there either… but I know they love the sun……
