shees shees it all depends on the hen and how you prepare her before breeding season all start and she start to moult for the following year give plenty bath resting time away from cock bird, and vitamins and fruit veg are essential for you to get good result from the hen, keep eyes open, if you see you are spoiling the hen stop the breeding ASAP, don’t allow her to sit on empty eggs it will cause her stress
Farzad Ramtin well I didn’t see anywhere that I was promoting my stuff, but any way thanks for watching if you want to learn how to breed them instead laughing, will be better ask, that’s a tip good luck
Nice, love your red canneries. I want to get a pair as well, just got a yellow bigger canaries, don’t know there full names. And hopping thy will lay eggs soon. I see you divided the cage with your favorite red canary, male one side and female other side, why is that....!
Waqas Baloch well I saw some video that some breeders in paskitan breed them but I am not sure I never tried, and I never had sparrow before it may be or it may not, I am not sure about but I guess it may be a myth or maybe be true no sure
Naeela Naz yes you can! But it all depend how the Male is, if the Male is calm and help the female feeding the chicks it will help the female not get to stress and you will have more round of eggs like 3-4, but if the Male is too active it will result eggs broken as he will try to breed while the female is inside the nest, and some Male kills the chicks, I used to have a very aggressive Male he was good for breed but when the female laying the eggs I have to remove him, he used to kill the chicks, but you need to check how is the Male because I used to have Male that stayed together with the female inside the nest helping her, good luck
Naeela Naz but the female can look after the chicks alone very well, but sometimes young female doesn’t know how to do, usually female breed well after 1 year
HawkfieldManor I haven’t got bird anymore, but it’s was fine in the winter and summertime, there’s a window on top also the green house used to be in the house shadows
I am not longer breeding canaries it was in the beginning, now I am only breeding red siskin, black hooded yellow siskin, American siskin, and goldfinches
really small cages they can't even fly only jump, sad to be 24hrs. in that jail and people even ask for where you got those cages, really????? I have a lot of birds some in my aviary and some caged but they can fly at least but any ways your birds are wonderfull
The cages are professional cages recomended by concil to breed hooded siskin and canary, as this birds born in cage, sad if someone capture wild bird and use cage or aviary, thanks for the coments but dont worry this bird are well looked after, they have better life than many people fresh veg and leaves fruits and fresh seed always available for them
+Jonathan Daumann.. Some one recommended you those cages so the birds can't fly?? people that sell stuff will always recommend stuff they have, same as phone service companies and car companies they will recomend whatever they have so they can sell something, As per the food, well thats the least you can do is give them good food for those birds in those small cages and about the thing you said of birds born in captivity thats not true, birds born in cages because people like you and me have them in cages or let me give you an example...lets say a women is pregnant and for whatever reason she goes to jail and her baby born in the jail so that means that the child is going to live fine and forever there just because he was born there?? Don't get me wrong I love birds and we share the same passion or the same hobby but people needs to be more compassionate and brind the best to animals so they can live well, happy, healty and longer lifes Still I like your bird room very clean
+Hugo Trujillo sorry hugo if you read my answer , this cage are recommended by council which is what the law require, my bird are all register in brent council bird breeder, i got to championships etc, i do understand what you said but do no compare one thing to another, if you know about birds you will now that this cages have the rigth size for them, birds which born in captivity does not require bigger cage because they are not used to fly they may be scary to big cages and result in stress some birds even die about dont get me wrong i breed birds for over 10 year never had any loss in birds even young babies i feed them in hand to make sure they all will survive
+Jonathan Daumann.. Remember that birds have wings to use them to fly if you provide a bigger cage they can use the wings why not do that? its very simple birds have wings to fly and have some exercise, unles we breed frogs to be jumping in cages is ok but we do breed birds with wings so the right thing to do is provide a cage with some room so they fly and NO they dont get scared in bigger cages, did you get along with breeders??? ask them and they always tell you that the bigger the cage is the better and please dont try to fing exxuses to have the poor birds jailed like that its just sad very sad
Hi Jonathan, thanks for the response. I did offer the nest early and she did lay only one egg in it and no more. Now she is not accepting the male when he attempts to mate so I separated them. I'm hoping she comes into breeding condition again.
Hi Jonathan, please could you offer some advise - I have a pair of canaries (1 year old) which have started breeding. The hen laid some eggs from the perch and they cracked on the floor. Is this because they are first time breeders? Thanks Phillip
Hi phillip , cool it could be due the female is too young to breed , also could be that she didnt accept the nest or the nest has been offers to her to late so she couldnt build her own nest , sometimes it happen to have some mites inside the nest pan under the nest or perch so she is not comfortable to go to the nest ! Advice check yours cage and add the nest to another side of the cage and leave her with the male !! Good luck ! I used to have a female she lay the egg on the floor due the mites inside the best If there is mites remove all perches clean very well and add the couple to the cage ! You can buy powder on petshop also helps to prevent
Hi Jonathan, the canary you call "crown" is a breed called "gloster". It comes in varieties: "corona" (with a crown) and "consort" - without a crown. I see that some of the cages don''t have any flat surfaces for birds to stand on at the bottom of the cages. The wires are uncomfortable for their legs and they actually can injure their feet (what happened to my gloster) and it's not what they find in their natural habitat. So you could think of covering the cage "floors" with some safe and steady hard surface. Canaries like sand or you can lay the surface with kitchen towels, which is easy to manage. Never use printed papers, as the print is toxic. But perhaps you already fitted your cages with "floors", because the videos are recorded 2 years ago. :-)
Cages for birds must be with wire on the bottom, they should no have access to their own poo , it can contaminate the bird with bacteria . With the bird get injury is due not cutting nails or the bird is too wild and keep flying around canaries are calm bird!
Hello I have a nest in the cage but female budgie is more interested to go behind a photo frame I don't want her to lay eggs there what shall I do???? pls help
Suveer Harilal since the bird born you start the preparation for breeding condition like let her moult, rest and good quality bird seeds with supplements, fruit and veg + vitamins
+Freddy Delgado hi freddy canaries usually are very calm birds they don't care when touching the babies, also you must change the nest when the babies has completed 2 weeks to keep nest clean and tidy so you will avoid any intruder to kill your birds
