Hi Jonathan, the canary you call "crown" is a breed called "gloster". It comes in varieties: "corona" (with a crown) and "consort" - without a crown. I see that some of the cages don''t have any flat surfaces for birds to stand on at the bottom of the cages. The wires are uncomfortable for their legs and they actually can injure their feet (what happened to my gloster) and it's not what they find in their natural habitat. So you could think of covering the cage "floors" with some safe and steady hard surface. Canaries like sand or you can lay the surface with kitchen towels, which is easy to manage. Never use printed papers, as the print is toxic. But perhaps you already fitted your cages with "floors", because the videos are recorded 2 years ago. :-)
Cages for birds must be with wire on the bottom, they should no have access to their own poo , it can contaminate the bird with bacteria . With the bird get injury is due not cutting nails or the bird is too wild and keep flying around canaries are calm bird!

Yes i know... but i always go to 4 rounds with brake of 3 weeks for female to rest babies born in perfect condition... some people make they breed in a row which results in bad qualities birds ... but my one they all have the brake to rest because i like quality birds
shees shees it all depends on the hen and how you prepare her before breeding season all start and she start to moult for the following year give plenty bath resting time away from cock bird, and vitamins and fruit veg are essential for you to get good result from the hen, keep eyes open, if you see you are spoiling the hen stop the breeding ASAP, don’t allow her to sit on empty eggs it will cause her stress

But it all depend how the Male is, if the Male is calm and help the female feeding the chicks it will help the female not get to stress and you will have more round of eggs like 3-4, but if the Male is too active it will result eggs broken as he will try to breed while the female is inside the nest, and some Male kills the chicks, I used to have a very aggressive Male he was good for breed but when the female laying the eggs I have to remove him, he used to kill the chicks, but you need to check how is the Male because I used to have Male that stayed together with the female inside the nest helping her, good luck
