A hands-on view of audio mixing, mastering, and production.
I am Niel Brooks - a guitarist, pianist, studio-rat, and I also play in a duo called "Mourning Dove" (as well as solo music). You can find me at nielbrooks.com - or - www.airgigs.com/user/owlwoodsouth
What about the delay compensation on the return you didn’t show that part on recording back into the daw and the routing matrix view on the set up would’ve been great to see for beginners using outboard gear
Very nice and straight. But... What if when I got a message at startup screen clickin on a session, 'unable to load session'?... nothing has happened with it, the other sessions are OK. Nowhere can be find any useable backup file, or saved file with another name... :((( Moreover my saved backup on another drive is unloadable as well.... About a two days work lost It seems to me so far.... Thankfully of 'Save as' option missing.
Until uad fixes this, i'm not moving to luna. Studio one comping is so much better. Even bitwig comping is better and it took them 4 years for that to show up
4 years later and they still didnt integrated a pause button..... Cant wrap my head arround that you need a key combination for something you would use so much trough a session. I just got it on Windows ( Studio One user but wanted to give it a try since it was free).
Hi, thank you for this amazing video so when you use the meter are you looking for not to go over the red am I right? Please let me know by the way I’m talking about gain stage.
QUESTION, Is their a way to sync the edit and mix windows when they are in two separate monitor displays. For example when you select a track. Displays are not following each other. Can't find the answer any where. Thank You.
My feeling is that you are taking away what is unike in this song and that is the dynamics between the singing and guitar , and I feel that the whole mix should been done with the tape plugin that would soften it up . i am no professional it's ust my take on it . Very frusrtrated right now . How ever as i said i'm not professional .
Wasted money would be a better name. So much reverbs out there, so who needs 20 reverbs on the hard drive. I mean…it is just reverb. I have Cubase stock verbs, NI Room, Tails, Vengeance Verbs, FabFilter Verb, UAD Verbs, this one and some more…the only I bought was FF Pro-R and the Vengeance ones because they was in the FX bundles. All others was free and don’t get much use. Who buying this in 2024??
@@screamingswifts So you have cornflakes from 20 different companies in your kitchen right? 20 different reverbs don‘t sound so different. No one who is hearing your music can hear a difference between NI Raum or Valhalla Room on your guitar for example. If you want to spend all your money on plugins, just because the plugin company said „this is the new sh|t and a game changer“ so do it. Wasted Space is just a reverb with some bitcrusher on it. Easy to do with a stock reverb and a stock bitcrusher. Nothing new just the same old sh|t but a different toilet.
@@axoplanet6081 I have more than two reverbs, yes. There's a spectacular difference between a plate and a spring reverb. A modelled digital reverb. A convolution reverb made from the Capitol Records chamber. Etc. Etc. It's all about what you're trying to replicate, or what mood you're aiming for. I don't use 20 reverbs, but 10 at least.
Why not just have a hard stop when stopping the playhead rather than two steps to stop the playhead.... also I'm having an issue with the playhead stuck in place and wont move... I hit play and the track plays but the playhead is frozen.
Great tutorial, thank you! It helped me understand a mastering flow. I hear some hiss in the beginning and end, is that something that can still be fixed during mastering?
I'm very confused. Let's say I saved a version on Jan 1st. Then, I open the version on Feb 20th, do adjustments, and save it as a new version. Then, the version from Jan 1st stayed the same as the version from Feb 20th. I just can't go back to the one on Jan 1st
I think I get now the new version thing. You have to save the new version before start changing any thing. So, you have a version from Jan 1. You open it again on Feb. Save it as a new version before you do any changes. Then, you can go to the version saved as Jan 1 and it'll be the way you left it back then.
TY a lot... this is the best way to use Superior Drummer MultiTracks on Luna... I am working my arrangement on Logic, When the song get approve, I moved all to Luna on Aiff Files
to me the hardware sounds like it is compressing the whole frequency range, in a more musical way. I can hear a bunch of woofy low mids that the plugin is not taming as much. Hardware just sounds more natural
