I've used this project in a few other videos, and had some folks asking about sharing the tracks, so I thought I'd do a whole mix with them here. You can grab the individual tracks at the link below and follow along. Should be fun! This is the final mix of the track.

relief to see how much low end you're having to cut on those acoustic guitars. I've recently started recording acoustic guitars for the first time and have been confused by how much low end I end up removing. It felt wrong but I guess my ears are not lying! Cheers

Hahah, yeah it feel weird to cut that much for sure! There were some real problem frequencies down there though that I just had to get rid of. Cheers!

the ocean way is the "all go to plugin" ... for me

It is so amazing. Took me a long time to warm up to it, but once I stopped over-thinking it, I fell in love with the room sound and how easy it is to set up. I pretty much send everything to it and adjust on the channel's send if there's too much. Cheers!

Curious why there is no panning. Maybe panning would make it sound more interesting & exciting.

There's a bit of panning, but this genre tends to sound better (to me) as if it's recorded live in a tight group setup. If you can imagine standing in front of a small group of people playing this, there wouldn't be too much extreme panning to the natural sound so I've left it at that. I probably should have panned the violin a little bit to the left or right, but it never struck me as sounding odd coming from the center. Take care!

Amazing videos! Can I ask what kind of mics were used? So crispy sounding! Thanks for the content!

Sure - I think I went through them in the first video, but as I recall, it was like this: Bass: Electrovoice RE20 through Unison V76 pre Dobro: Neumann TLM102 and external 1073 preamp Acoustic Rhythm 1: Neumann TLM102 external 1073 pre Acoustic Rhythm 2: Handmade Telefunken style tube mic (I made this mic a few years ago) and I used the Unison Neve 1073 Violin: Shure KSM32 into Unison V76 Lead guitar: Telefunken 251 through external 1073 The little Neumann TLM102 is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. I highly recommend those mics to folks as a stellar all-rounder microphone. Much more pleasing sounding that the TLM103, and I much prefer it to the ubiquitous U87ai which I always found too harsh.

Why do you use a Mix Bus instead of going straight to the Main? I know logic defaults that way but don't understand the advantage. Thank you for these excellent tutorials!

I typically use a Mix Bus in Logic and Pro Tools, so it's really just a hold-over from using those DAWs; but it also gives me complete control over the output to my monitors without worrying whether the fader is controlling the input or output of the channel. I hope that makes sense. Basically it's just habit, but also allows to raise/lower the output volume without messing with any section of the gain-stage to the mix bus processing. Cheers!
