Oh dang, I didn't realize I NEEDED to stop there! Thanks for sharing that and it's good to see a video and hear from you guys - it's been too long! Hope you guys had an great trip!
Thanks, Duane. Good to hear from you. Hope you’re well. I’ve driven past Indian Wells Brewing for over 30 years. I finally dropped in last week. It’s right around the corner from you.
great video ! was wondering if you can tell me how to get back to a highway after the overlook / camp area. I keep reading its a point to point trail but looks like an out and back to me! thanks in advance- robert
It’s basically an out and back trail along County Hwy 5. But, at the school house you can choose to take County ROAD 5 towards Toroweap and Cty Hwy 109.
I got a 7in lift on my f150, about to do this solo all by myself. Yes I’ll have tons of water and extra gas. I’ll bring my dirt bike for a worse case scenario.
You’ll have fun and do just fine with your F150. Although, I have been reading how recent storms really tore up Death Valley. Where exactly, I don’t know.
I hope to tour the northern part of Death Valley soon, where the Race Track, the crater, and hot springs are. Goler Canyon is beautiful. Definitely worth a trip.
Glad you made it through that pass! It's hard to see how Manson drove his bus to Barker ranch on it. Well, this convinced me to change my mind trying to cross Mengel pass with my Chev. Corvette being 2 WD and 5 inches off the ground 😁.
I have not rubbed while off-roading, such as going over ruts and through rock gardens. But, I have rubbed while entering a steep driveway at 40mph. Haha.
@@havekidswillexplore thanks for the reply! I’m going with the Eibach pro truck stage one kit. 2.75 inches of lift with the recommended UCAs and raptor wheels. Ill have to keep it under 40 when hitting driveways lol
No problems with alignment. I have minor rubbing when I enter a steep driveway too fast. But i believe it’s rub on the crash bars. I’m still using the stock UCA.
There is a new model of Ignik Firecan. I have uploaded a video to share with the RU-vid community, : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Jj2QfOba6Q.html
Nice drone video. I took a drive to Ponderosa, 7200 feet, June 3rd, 2023. There were some patches of snow and a lot of damage to the roads from the massive amount of snow this year.
The website for Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument notes the road to Whitmore Point may rip off bumpers and side rails. Was this road very rough? If not, I think this is the Whitmore Canyon Overlook spot, not Whitmore Point which is northwest of the overlook spot. There is no hiking trail to the river from Whitmore Point, only the Canyon Overlook.
Man you were right in stomping grounds! It was neat seeing areas I’ve explored and some that I haven’t found. Super Pacific might finish my x1 a little early so maybe June!
@@havekidswillexplore that would be awesome I’d love to join you guys. I’m in the Mojave/California City area. I’m going to make it a trip and do the install in Oregon. Then we will take a long week back along the coast and then finish up down the 395.
Did you notice a drop in acceleration or power due to the larger diameter (and heavier) tires ? I have an old Expedition w 33s and 3.73 gears and am considering buying raptor takeoffs. Thanks for the video it was really informative!
Thanks for watching. The short answer is yes. I feel a noticeable loss in acceleration. I’m also driving a 2.7l with 3.55 gears. I noticed the standard shifting is 1-3-5-7 and upward. If I enter “sport” mode, it shifts 1-2-3-4-5, etc. In sport mode, the acceleration feels fine. Eventually, I’ll have the 315/70-17 tire size programmed in. It’s suppose to alter the shifting points.
I have an 11 F150 with the 5.0 and 3.73s. I can’t say I noticed much loss with 35s. I’m sure there was a bit though. Also, they are narrower 285 wide 35s, so that probably makes a difference.
Great video. Which route did you take up into the meadows? The 99 or the 395? Gonna be heading out there soon and was wondering since I’m coming from LA. Where was that campsite?
Thanks. We took the 395 through Kennedy Meadows. We were in a section called the “river camps.” DM me on IG (HaveKidsWillExplore) and I’ll send you the coords.
Yes, I think the different geos would make a difference. There’s barely enough room on my 2019 to clear the crash bars. I’m even afraid to swap my UCA.
My hobby is a hayking and prospecting gemstones and gold absolutely good 👍 times with my honesty people's. I like that nice seconds. Good times fore all.....
This is why Camp Pendleton was my favorite duty station. I'm retired now and back home in North Carolina. As much as I love home, there is nothing like the wide open spaces out west. These is something just magical about the high desert. I put more miles on my motorcycle than I care to attempt count. When I could talk my wife into coming along it was that much better. I no loner have my motor cycle For reasons I won't get into on RU-vid. Since she can't ride anymore so I sold it. I now have a 2018 F150 STX CrewCab 4x4. Not much real overlanding here in the south east, but we make the best of it. At least my better half can enjoy it with me. That is the real blessing. Love the content.
Yeah, there’s definitely a lot of land to explore here. You’ll have plenty of fun with your F150. You’ll appreciate the extra space. Thanks for watching.
I’m glad you found the video informative. I’ll have some more videos on the F150 soon (Deaver leaf pack, Fox 2.5 DSC, 1” shackle lift). Keep an eye out. Thanks for watching.
I was able to train them. Just make sure the seller hasn’t removed the tpms. You can train the tpms by pressing the hazard button 6 times while the ignition is at the on position.
@@havekidswillexplore could you go into detail on how this worked? I am doing the exact same thing with mine right now. Did the raptor tpms register a tire pressure right off the bat? My truck shows no tire pressures.
@@andydurrett6222 You have to train the raptor tpms sensors to your rig. Turn the ignition to the on position (don’t start the engine), then press the hazard button 6 times. Your truck will honk and give you further instructions on the dash display. You release tire pressure according to the dash instructions. My raptor tpms sensors worked without any issues. Also, make sure your truck isn’t trying to read your old tires, if they’re too close. Hope this helps.
