what a fun day. thats a monster largemouth! we have to start fishing together more often! we've been on a tear the last few times. love this video. i think its the best one yet!
@@justinbuckles120 thanks man! Yeah I was extremely surprised at the the quality we found. We caught more largemouth than spots! Definitely a better lake than I ever gave it credit for, and I will be coming back!
$225 won't even get me enough fuel to make it to my fishing hole and back to the landing. I'll drop $225 at BassPro in 30 mins or less. $225 doesn't even cover half of my insurance premium for my truck and boat. But let's be clear, $225 isn't actually $225 in 2024. $225 has the same purchasing power that $100 had back in 2017.
@@zen8704 we’re leasing it so that once we pay $200 every other month for 5 years, it will be mine… we got it last year (i was in 8th grade), so I will own it the summer after I graduate
@@YoungQuist00 your trumpet is $6000? Damn. I played alto sax and bought an old used Yamaha sax in good condition for around $4000 but it was already considered one of the best. That much for a smaller trumpet seems crazy to me.
I went there last week and could not catch any bass, I was able to catch a catfish but that is about it. I fish from the bank so that is probably why I don’t catch a lot.
Yeah Lanier is super tough fishing from the bank. The fish there, especially the bass relate to deep water and structure such as brush piles and rock. Without knowledge of where those are and a boat to get there, it’s tough!
Hey Zach, thanks for the awesome video, definitely giving me a good reason and excuse to try and get up to Lake Lanier and try it out...what was the underspin that you were using and the soft plastic used with it? I heard Cameron say it was a Spot Choker, was it the spot choker brand? Maybe the best place get them or order them? Thanks again for the video
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, Spot Choker is a brand local to Lake Lanier. Best place to buy would likely be on Hammonds Fishing Center’s website. The soft plastic was just a Zoom Super Fluke Jr! If you’ve never been to Lanier, you absolutely need to go. It’s one of the best bass fishing lakes in the country, if not the world!
I live at Lake Lanier and never caught a fish on a buzzbait. Is it because buzzbait is better for LMB in general or because it is the clear water? I do catch some spots on whopper plopper, but I believe, if I would use another typical topwater at same time, I would catch twice as more, it’s really hard to catch a spot on the plopper bait vs walker.
Yeah I would say Lanier in general doesn’t set up great for a buzzbait. There are definitely places and times you can catch them on it. In the backs of creeks and up the rivers. But I’m with you, I’m gonna throw a walking bait or popper on Lanier way more than I would a buzzbait or plopper. Those tend to excel more in stained water and/or around cover. You can absolutely catch them in super clear water but typically it’ll be throwing the buzzbait or plopper around laydowns, grass, etc which Lanier just doesn’t have much of
@@ZachRamseyFishingthank you for your answer! I may try a buzzbait in clear water around a laydown. What size of the buzzbait you have on this video? 1/2 oz or 3/8?
I sure hope not! The spots have gotten pretty prevalent but most of the big tournaments harvest all the spots. There’s enough shallow water cover that the largemouth population is still doing ok. What we really need is our grass back. They say they are planting a variety of grasses but none of them have taken hold. I’ll be it when I see it. If anything it may end up like Hartwell and be a 50:50ish lake. Btw… I have a video coming soon from Allatoona… caught more largemouth than spots after over 40 fish
@@WarEagleTheBest yeah the lake has changed a ton since then. It still has plenty of good fish but most would say it’s been in a small slump the last couple years.
