Welcome back y'all. So if you're up to date on my videos, you've seen a little portion of this video. That said, I've been saying in these videos for quite a while that I will get better at using my electronics, specifically forward facing sonar. In my case, I run Lowrance Active Target. Well, on this day, I decided it was well past time. I kept one rod out on the deck and left all the rest in the box. I was determined to force myself to use FFS all day. That's the only way I'm going to get better with it.
I used the new Queen Tackle Rollin' Strollin' Jig and the Z-man KickerZ which were both released at I-CAST earlier this year. The ONLY place you can get these in the CSRA is at Hadden Outdoors, so be sure to stop by and get a couple packs, these can be tough to find!
It did take me a while to figure out what I was looking for, but once I found it, I was able to catch some fish including a really nice one. FFS has long been one of my weaknesses, so I'm far from an expert. This trip opened my eyes to just how many fish live out suspended over really deep water just chasing bait all the time. I'm not sure what percentage of the population of bass is out doing this, but I would wager it's way more than most of us think.
Y'all bear with me as I'm learning how to be more of a "scoper." That said, I certainly don't plan on completely dropping my shallow water power fishing style. As I've alluded to multiple times I want to chase the tournament trails once I'm at a place in my other career to do so. To do that and be successful, I'll have to be a multi-tool angler. There are times when scoping will just straight up whoop shallow fishing and the opposite will also be true (though probably less often). Y'all will get to watch me figure this way of fishing out, and hopefully I can teach you some things a long the way.
I still plan on giving y'all a look at all the topwater blowups and big hook sets up shallow whenever the opportunity arises.
KEEP CHASING THEM

Nice fishing man, I live up in the Winfield area. Do you plan on fishing in the new Bass Nation club?
