On this RU-vid channel I film stuff about things that I'm into. In this case, it's cars. I just thought sharing how I do things through the videos that I put out, maybe that might inspire you to do things yourself too. I'm not a professional, I'm just a person who loves a DIY and trying my best to do it professionally. While doing what I do, I always try to make sure that I show how it's done every step of the way. By subscribing to the channel, I get to know that you appreciate it and thank you.
Hey man, I bought it from a local store that sells automotive tools here in South Africa. Well I do have experience with AliExpress and to be honest with you, I've always had the best buying experience and their delivery comes ahead of the ETA. I'm in South Africa BTW but their service has been good for me
could you please do a video off the dashboard and engine fuse boxes and diagram if available. I have the same exact vehicle and I can’t find a diagram ANYWHERE and I’ve put one of the fuses in the wrong place so I need a video to show where they all go. Thank you so much
Did you manage to sort out the problem? Coz I'm having the same problem on my 2006 passat 2.0 fsi Re checked the timming nothing wrong with it. Changed cam, oxygen sensor , crank, timming chain, Now it's showing this P0341 Please if you have a solution share
@@sithembelemngonyama yes I did find the solution. It was due to wrong timing so the car was reading false camshaft position and gave me the error. Correcting the timing sorted out my issue.
I am trying to get a solution to it. What I'm left with is to order the key programming software and apply the information I have researched and see if it will work.
Mate , also want to know about the oil control ring It’s should be replaced? In case it’s get damaged in the process, can you please help me find the oem number? I found some seller on Aliexpress But they can’t be sure it’s will fit our engine BVY 2.0 fsi But it seems the same Please help 🙏🏻 I’m afraid my oil control ring going to fail or breaks because high mileage engine (240k kilometres) Never been replaced (timing chain ether)
@@razieltac5365 hey man, it's not necessary to replace the oil control rings if they are not damaged, but if you do want to you can but it's not a must. I will check a part number for you... Damn 240k KMs without a replacement chain, that chain was strong.
@@MegatronicsZA 😂 Thank man appreciate it When I bought my lovely Jetta it was around 135km, and I didn’t do it yet😬 I very hope the last owner did it I will hurry up with it, hope it won’t break me
Mate, I’m wondering how the exhaust camshaft didn’t fly? I’m afraid to do it that way It’s a lot of force from the timing belt And for sure I don’t want to stripping the bolt I want to it your way Also, I heard there’s a special seal for the camshafts tray and should not use the RTV Thanx🙏🏻
@@razieltac5365 if you can look back, there's a steel bar I put over the cam variator so that it can put pressure on the exhaust camshaft, I later removed it after noting that the camshaft was not lifting. That also depends on how much tension is on the belt. The not strip the bolt get someone to help you. I'm not sure about that but I used Reinzosil, it's the best on the market.
@@MegatronicsZA yes I see your videos repetitive I notice later that the bar didn’t effect much, an I thought maybe you release a bit of tension from the tensioner on the belt Or maybe there’s isnt enough room there to get to the tensioner (because of the upper mount) and you just the first one to discover that the camshafts did not lift if pulling out the cams tray I trying to be the less “surprised” in the process
@@razieltac5365 lol 😂 🤣 😂 you can never get less surprised, hopefully the video will get you pre-ready for the surprise. Thanks for the support on the channel
You destroyed the rear wishbone bush by forcing the control arm down like that, you can see the arm is down and the bush has stayed in place which means the mating points inside have twisted.
I have been looking for a lot of time for exactly this video 😂 AMAZING JOB ! Do you think it’s possible to see any carbon build up ? And also, would this engine deserve an oil catch can, tried fitting one but the hoses would just vaccum up, I have the BVX engine code, I really like this engine and plan on maintaining it for a long time.
Lol I'm glad you found what you have been looking for. Yes you can see the carbon build up if you can further remove the intake inlet seals, those rubber holes. You actually can. Yes, you can fit a catch can if you can find one custom made for this engine. I also love this engine, often times people say they're problematic but I haven't seen that.
@@MegatronicsZAthanks for the quick reply, also can you actually clean the valves at home ? From what I know you have to spin the crank to open/close the valves for each cylinder so as dirt and other stuff doesn’t fall in the cylinder, I’m planning on doing a TB clean with intake clean, and after that just try to fit an oil catch can. I know it’s a hard job, however, a video with cleaning the valves would be amazing! ❤ Take care brother, and have a great day, cheers from Romania!
@scundeaiasmin5110 yes you can clean valves but I think you need very expensive special tools to clean them... You are right, as you turn the crank the valves with close and open and as some open you can get a chance to clean them. With the video at the moment I don't think I'll make one as it needs serious money to buy those tools and the channel isn't making money.
@@refentsechuaka1077 like you said, with good maintenance it can easily do even 700 000 KMs. The killers of engines are poor to no maintenance. With mine, engine oil changes are done every 6 months.
Professional bro! I’m planning to clean mine as well I Had the same car 😅 BVY I heard that after the cleaning procedure the throttle body should be remap How did you managed to do it? Love your videos and knowledge sharing Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot man I appreciate it, these BV- engines have been good for me so far. The re-calibration of the throttle body is not necessary if you can get someone to step on the throttle when they key is on the ON position and it will open so you can clean it nicely. Re-calibration is only necessary if it is new or if you pushed it with your hands rather than opening it with the throttle pedal.
@@MegatronicsZA thanks man appreciate that a lot. This engines serve me as well too I’m happy with the car, we always love to enjoy from our own fix’s and refreshing thing is the engine. Thanx to BVY community you build here 🤍 I will update as well things that I will do with my mk5 BVY 2.0 non turbo
Been thinking about doing this. Couldn't find any videos on it. Now this video pops up on my homepage covering exactly what I want to do on the exact same car. Like even the exact part code on the new cluster I was looking to buy and the same issue with the brightness on the old cluster. Great video man! I'll definitely stay tuned for the next video. You can fix this bro!
I'm doing more research and need some money to do this swap. I thought it would just be a matter of copying and pasting the EEPROM data on the new cluster but it's not that straight forward.
@@MegatronicsZA A few days ago I DM'ed a dude on tiktok who got it to work. I asked him what I'd need to do the replacement, he said: The cluster, the pin adapter, immobilizer transfer + coding, upgrade can-gateway. I dunno if this helps tho. I could ask him more?
Yeah that's some pieces of the things you need to do for the swap but I found out that there's more. There are some addresses on the Immobilizer that needs to be changed. He's right about the things he told you, but how you need to do it, the steps to follow. They don't really share that info. If you can please ask him for more info.
I've seen some people online get it right with a golf mk6 cluster but also as you well know they don't show how they got there. I have seen an upgrade on a passat where the original board was used and then entire cluster was swapped to digital I'm thinking of going that route as the screen and board are all that's required as far as I could tell from the video
@@jaynaidoo4986 yes you are right they do it with a Golf 6 cluster that they put on a VW Golf 5 casing and make it work but they never show how they got there but I'm making progress. I've ordered the tool from AliExpress but it will take time to arrive.
Bro im experiencing the same issue after changing the timing it pops code p0341 camshaft position sensor A bank1 range/performance the car doesn't start even after changing the sensor
It will not start, you have find a scanner and then clear the fault then start the car immediately. You'll have to do that until you sort out the timing
@@MegatronicsZA unbelievable. I run 18 inch detroit rims and it finally got rid of the tramlining and harsh ride. Thats just with the new rear shocks. Cant wait for new front shocks.
Just installed one yesterday. I can't make the SD card to work(probably too large[64GB]) and one think I don't like is that for the Bluetooth to work the ignition needs to be on and the volume graphics take the whole screen. Otherwise the sound quality is good.
Try at least 16GB I think they can read that size. On mine Bluetooth used to work nicely even with the car accessories on, I didn't have to have ignition on. Yewh the screen is quite small so there's not much it can display simultaneously, I also loved the sound quality I only had one issue. Don't know about you. On my car, the rear speakers were not playing. Only the front speakers. Are your rear speakers playing?
@@MegatronicsZA wow 16gb is too little. I used to have the Chinese version of it with the slightly bigger screen and without Bluetooth (I broke the screen and needed to replace it on a budhet and found the Harman used for a nice price). It read the 64GB card without a problem. My Bluetooth is also working with just the accessories but not without the key, unlike the chinese version. As for the speakers - I only have front row speakers so can't tell about the back row. Thinking about using it for some time or at least I spare more money for a better system lol
@WestCoastG100 maybe the 64 GB card is faulty, maybe. Oh okay I understand you now. Lol yeah we do whatever we can to save some money, but as long as you are happy with most of the things I guess you're good
@@MegatronicsZA it shouldn't be faulty since it worked fine with the Chinese one. I'm happy for now because I at least have music in my car lol. Will probably upgrade in the near future.
@@MegatronicsZA the car starts without problems. what are you talking about? about fuses? or in the lock on the left not where the key is, there is a connector and it needs to be replaced 5q0905849
@@miguelmeireles1951 oh okay that's great. I didn't know that the small screen radios do show as well, but I know this one does not support camera view as it's B&W only.
Good work bro! Amazing video, very informative and you didnt cut any important parts. Showed everything thats needed to understand how to do it. Subscribed brother
Thanks a lot man, I always try to make sure that you get to see everything when you watch my videos. I have seen that you did subscribe, I appreciate it man. Thanks
Hey, when the key is stuck try to turn it by being gentle and soft for at least 4-5 times, then on the 6th try turn the key hard it will eventually turn.
Hey man, yeah they do work. The music I was playing here was actually from a USB. To play from your USB/AUX/BT you just plug them in then choose your input source
To remove the dipstick funnel you need to remove the intake manifold first, here's the video of how to remove the intake manifold here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c6RANdz9FwE.html
@@MegatronicsZA Thanks alot, and fuck me thats alot of work for just the oil dipstick funnel. I have a 2.0 FSI no turbo aswell, im trying to get it in very good condition and this oil dipstick is the last thing. i managed to replace timing belt adn waterpump and thermostat, and that was alot of work!!
@@mallrick449 lol 😂 🤣 😂 yeah this car will f*#k you. Lol it's a lot of work just for a tiny dipstick pipe... Also make sure that you get extra breather hose pipes, the fact that you are removing the intake manifold might result in you breaking those pipes. No matter how smooth you are, you have a 90/10 chance of breaking one hose if not both.
Nice content as usual. Can I challenge you into doing a bit more research on a 5W40 vs 10W40. To my understanding, the 5W40 is better as these have the same viscosity when hot, when cold, the 5W40 is thinner which means it would be a better lubricant at lower temperatures than an oil with a higher viscosity. Keep up the good content.
@@lindokuhlemenzikhumalo9685 An oil’s viscosity is its resistance to flow. Oil that’s too thick won’t flow properly through your engine, in this case - 10W-40 won't flow the same as 5W-40 during the cold start. 5W-40 will flow very easily, which to me implies that there's not a huge layer of protection between the bearings, crank and other parts where oil goes to when it is cold. So with this thin layer, I believe it is not good for an older engine as they need more protection as they are now prone to wear. Oil that’s too thin won’t protect moving parts from wear and tear hence I'm going for 10W-40 rather than the 5W-40. Viscosity increases as the temperature drops and decreases as the temperature rises, which is why I chose the oil with viscosity that is 40 when the engine is hot (which allows good performance). I hope this gives you an idea of why I choose to use 10W-40 instead of the recommended 5W-40.
You can't mix different viscosity oils together. It's better to drain the 5W-40 and put in the 10W-40. I personally don't know what mixing them would do but I'd recommend that you don't try it.
@@roccabauleth6186 you are correct, with the mileage getting higher I've noticed that thin oil doesn't offer much protection - which is why I go with 10W-40.
Hi I have almost the same problem as you but I don't think it's the same solution, I'll explain it to you unintentionally when changing the rack I lost track of the steering wheel so I I accidentally turned the steering wheel to the maximum and I must have exceeded the limit it will make a click and since then I have this error message what do you think?
@@kastromario8514 oh that means your clock spring is out of the range that it's expected to be on. So if you have continuously turned the steering wheel then you probably might have broken the clock spring. To fix it you need to plug in the OBD Scanner and read the degrees it's on, the adjust as required.
@kastromario8514 it's broken, it will no longer work. You need to replace it. May I please ask you to kindly subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already? Thanks
