Why will the 2m and 3m novice be better races because you might have horses whose optimum is 2m4f running in them? That is just a crazy notion. The much more likely scenario is that they will skip Cheltenham altogether to run in the 2m4f Grade 1 at Fairyhouse. Punters voting for these changes must like losing. The changes are just designed to increase bookmaker profits, nothing to do with anything else. Unfortunately, the media are hand in hand with the bookmakers so predictable cheerleading going on. O'Leary was spot on.
Wednesday is still an issue for me. The x country is the only race of the week I watch from the bar and I rarely hang around to watch a flat race on any track! The Queen Mother generally has a small uncompetitive field and recently so does the Gallaghers. So what is left? No wonder so few turned up on Wednesday last March!!
Nice video, it clearly explains the important changes. Excellent to see LTR being flexible and covering the big topics for viewers even if it means changing the intended schedule a bit. Looking forward to the video Monday 😊
Plus the main issue is £8.5 a pint £18 for a burger and chips, I used to travel 50 miles a day for the 1st three days by train and loved the atmosphere of the whole day but food and drink prices are a RIP off, the racing changes for me are a step in right direction, 2024 was the first time in 32 years that I didn't go , and think I will miss 2025 as well. but still look forward to it.
I wonder will this affect owners with Willie Mullins, Willie will have 8 or 9 in the arkle, some good horses could be 9th in line and that might not impress every owner
A key point now whether you agree or disagree with the changes is that the Wednesday definitely becomes a worse day in terms of racing with the Ballymore gone and cross country not having the top horses anymore
The issue with trotting out Monkfish and Topofthegame examples is the fact the welfare brigade can use this all day long. And it also conveniently ignores other renewals like the one with Allaho and Minella Indo. And there's no doubt in my mind that those two has a harder race than the others you mentioned.
On the whole changes for the better in my opinion. Have not been for a few years but the one thing I had a major problem with was the quality and cost of the food compared to other race courses.
The coach travel is a joke used to he about 80 locations. Now it's about about 20....unless there's train strikes they go from everywhere again. Cost wise I ha e to go from Portsmouth to Bristol for a coach as london is too expensive. If a strike though bang I go direct from Portsmouth and save all my hotel money and 90 quid on a train.
The best against the best hopefully a strong festival reliving great horse races top class and to a better festival agree with the grand national runs in the XC but great videos looking forward to the start of the jumps
Great show guys I currently have Brechin castle Kingston pride Diva luna Castle ivers Queensbury boy On my short list for novice hurdlers to follow what do you think of these?
I think ballyburn in the arkle is a crazy prediction but we'll see 😂 Mullins is the don if he has to train for 2 and half and miss cheltenham to guarantee a gold cup he would. He has his ways and the galopin way was it.
Gavin Lynch is different class, knowledgeable without being arrogant, smart, efficient with his words and always seems to say the right thing, his views and opinions tend to be correct when looking back on things much later My favourite part of upping the ante was when he did his segment “the week that was” - his views on each horse was superbly concise and correct
I think it is the only segment I miss to be honest. I actually get a great kick out of Johnny Dineen so having DJ with JD & GL on weekly would just be NH Heaven during the Winter lol
Great show guys. Glad the channel is back, and excited for the season ahead No mention of Iroko in the JP horses with spring targets (National), I noticed. He could be an interesting one
Enjoyed this lads . Trying to guess where mullins is sending his horses months I advance is a pointless exercise though. Hard enough the weeks before the festival 😅
Looking to make a new friend(s) around Gloucestershire area who are into Horse Racing. None of my mates are, or the wife really, so would love to find someone to go racing or chat about 😀
Brilliant show lads, a modern-day Guru of Nat Hunt in Gavin Lynch always take note of his views.Ante post has changed completely, and Gavin pointed this out. What will trainers think of changes to the festival,?will they try to smuggle one into the Turners? or go for quality in Arkle and Brown's?. I hope FACT to File will go for the KG. The course will suit him and his style of running.
