Hello Dr Christian I was diagnosed as Hashimoto syndrome with high Anti microsmal Ab and high Antithyroglobulin...I had subclinical hypothyroidism with TSH of 8 and normal T3 and T4 in 2021 after I got covid illness and I started levothyroxine 3 years ago..My symptoms improved a lot after taking it and I started healthier lifestyle by decreasing gluten intake cutting down sugar in my diet and walking in the morning for an hour daily and I also do fitness exercise, weight lifting and resistance bands and I feel way better now most of hypothyroid symptoms disappeared and I've got in shape and even my memory improved..I believe I can tapper my levothyroxine dose but I'm osteopenic dianosed by Dexa and thanx God I don't have a history of fracture. By the way I'm a 42 yrs old female. I 'm afraid if I decreased my dose will it affect my bone density. U know that bone remodelling or bone turn over cycle needs optimum thyroid hormones to work well and build up stronger bones..Do you think I'm still a candidate for tappering my dose?

I was started on Levothyroxine 40 years ago and don't remember why. I don't remember symptoms so it was probably just TSH levels. Over the years there have been only mild fluctuations in those levels and mild changes in Levo dose. My primary care physician for the last 20 years was aghast that I would even try to determine if the drug is necessary. I found primary research papers in which patients were removed from their dose for 6 weeks and tested before and after, and about half were found to have normal levels even without the drug. Nowadays LabCorp makes it easy for everybody to test themselves anytime for a reasonable price, and it is my plan to recreate that study.

Hi Dr. Christianson, I asked my doctor to stop taking levothyroxine 88mcg (after 12 years) and she said since it was a low dose to just stay on it. So a few weeks ago I watched Dr. Child's video on how to taper 25% every 2 weeks. That's what I've done and I feel okay, but my blood pressure is elevated to 150s/90s, but my pulse is in the 60s. I read it could affect BP. I decided to take iodine 2% Lugols 2 drops daily and selenium. Do you think this is a good course of action? I do have my thyroid and take no other drugs and have no other comorbities. Thank you for any advice.

Side effects of statins are unbearable and i had to stop. I have been hearing about colchicine and might be a good alternative. The vexing question here is if statins work then why are we seeing a increase in heart disease despite so many statins being used. Many are pointing to increase in alzheimer's due to the use of statins and the brains need for Cholesterol.
@DrChristianson
@DrChristianson 7 дней назад
Many don't do well on statins. Colchicine also has side effects to Consider. The brain does need cholesterol, but it manages its' levels internally unless the blood levels drop below 30 - lower than meds can drop it. I don't push statins but all studies I find show that they lower the risk of Alzheimers: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7687291/ I hope you find some helpful Solutions!

One key factor is insufficient SEO (your videos' SEO score is 48/100%, that's why your video is not reaching out to the people and you do not have many subscribers, views, likes, watch time, and comments. Dr Elizabeth bright wrote a book called Good fat is good for women in menopause which says that your Adrenals need animal fat to produce hormones that have decreased in menopause. @DrChristianson
@DrChristianson 15 дней назад
This is a bit of a misunderstanding. It's partially true in that hormones are made from cholesterol. What is not true is that hormones cannot be made of cholesterol is low. Your adrenal glands make their own cholesterol. As do your other glands.

My mom had her thyroid removed many years ago and has lived on Synthroid. My question is in a catastrophic event like an EMP where there’s a grid down situation and no way to get the medication. Is there any other natural supplements I can stock up on now like iodine? Selenium? or do you have to have a thyroid in order to absorb the iodine? Are you pretty much screwed if you run out of medication?

You have no idea how much you've changed my life! I picked up your audio book, Thyroid Reset Diet after getting diagnosed with "post partum thyroditis." They took my blood and slapped me with .25mg of Levo. After I blindly began taking it, I started feeling WORSE with new symptoms. Something in me was telling me that taking medication was not the right thing. After a few chapters into your book, I cut back on yellow and red light foods (I haven't fully eliminated all yellow) and I also told my doctor I wasn't taking the Levo anymore. Well; my TSH levels dropped from a 7 to a 5. Still not optimal but there's improvement. I still advise my doctors that I would like to continue without medication (although they were against it) and I'm working to go all in on the reset diet. I'm confident in your work and the power of diet to help me get through my Sub Clinical Hypo. Thank you for your god given purpose! ❤

But my T3 has always been low, and when I attempt to take Cytomel or liothyronine, it makes me crazy and super irritable. Even causes breakthrough bleeding, which I have never had and always had a regular cycle. My question is, why can't I tolerate T3? My doctors say that will help with my lack of energy, but I can't get my T3 up. And when I tell them how nuts T3 makes me, they have no answer, or say, "Hmmm, that's weird. Never heard of that".
