Having a good family and good friends who are able and prepared to support you isn't just good fortune. Neither is having good connections in your industry that would help you get a second chance, as is Tamsin's situation according to her. Maybe for some, yes, but for many people, you need to work hard and have strength of character to create a good and strong family and friend circle and maintain it. People who remain off the street primarily do so through good choices and hard work - and even wealth privilege doesn't help if you don't work to benefit from it - there are lots of homeless people from wealthy families who fell into drugs and poverty from bad choices and have burned all their bridges, despite having "good fortune". I'm not saying blame homeless people for their position, but also don't just put it down to dumb luck, or make it look like the hard working and decent people in our society just flipped a coin for their good lives and deserve their good situation just as little as the homeless deserve their bad one. So no, the space separating MOST homed people from most homeless people is not that narrow. Tasmin, I can guarantee you, like many others, will never be homeless, because of her life choices and conscientiousness - and that's a good thing. We have a responsibility to help the poor and vulnerable in our society - it is a unique and crucial human trait that made our species the dominant force on the planet, but we shouldn't misrepresent where that responsibility comes from.
