Izera is a 3 piece Synth Rock band from Adelaide. With more keyboards than you've ever seen on one stage, and a drum kit that will give you flashbacks of the 80's.
They are a band that just wants to give your ears something you've never heard before.
The catch is... they are often found busking in Rundle Mall or in other hidden corners of Adelaide! So, the sound will often find YOU.

Izera takes influences from all corners of the music world. Citing influences from 80's rock, heavy industrial, to things jazzy, even pop songs that you're hearing every 5 minutes on the radio, and also most things in-between.
The band shines, but goes hard.

Izera opened for Gary Numan, and Pop Will Eat Itself both in 2014. Both garnering great responses from show-goers and headline artists alike.
We hope to expand further and open for many more influential artists yet to come.

Now it's 2016, and the band is looking stronger than ever. More active, and more fun.

i dig your sound and style, very quick and accurate scales with nice timing / build up between bass n drum and sustain / vibrato in between the drop for suspense. :) I have this same model organ in my basement but I spilled a beer on a few of the solo keys some of them don't work any more. I want to repair it some day but not sure where to begin. Anyway, thanks for making this cool video and music. Keep it up!

Hey Stephen, it's impressive what you get out of the MZ-2000. I read your post while researching the MZ-2000 in the Casio Music Forum. I've been playing around with it for a few days now. I noticed that the send parameters for reverb and chorus are not saved in the registrations for the DSP effects. Is there a trick, or do I have to readjust the two parameters every time I call them up? In synth mode, a pan value can be set for each of the four layers. However, the samples do not move in the stereo image. Does the stereo function have to be activated first? Would be nice to hear from you. Regards, bimfood
@sssyntax
@sssyntax 8 месяцев назад
Hi there, I'm glad you like the video :) The master chorus and reverb thing is really weird. Its like that on many of Casio's keyboards, even the mzx500. Sometimes it seems to save it and other times it just won't. Some of the insert distortion fx won't save their values either so as you found, you have to enter the correct value each time. Other a bit hit and miss with the fx and how they save in registrations. A bit frustrating. I'm fairly sure that the panning in synth mode worked well, maybe keep experimenting with it.

@@sssyntax I don't just like this video. It's awesome what you get out of the MZ 2000! Absolutely inspiring. After some trial and error with the stereo layers in the synth section, I found the point: The preset for the DSP effect within the sound must be set to off. You may have to set it to "Stereo Thru" once in the meantime and then back to "Off". In the DSP effects of the combination, a stereo DSP must be selected for the DSPs or it must be set to Thru. It's wonderful how much spatiality the sound gets by distributing the layers in the stereo field.
@bimfood
@bimfood 8 месяцев назад
It's strange that Casio delivered the MZ 2000 (and also the MZ-X 500) with such weak preset sounds. The fact that the DSP effects are switched on in the preset registrations, but are set to Thru, is also moronic. What the Casio team is doing is bordering on self-sabotage. 😆

Great on-the-fly playing! I agree. I have a DX1900 now (plus two subtly different E550s, for that matter). I used to have an E-70 (and now I'm just bragging, but I had a CS-80 perched on top of it as well!), and I always found the E-70 a bit stiff... and even thin, compared to the Kawai units. Kawai's strings are many times better than the E-70, especially with their chorus effect. The E550s are punchier than the DX1900, which is a creamier sounding unit. So much more personality with the Kawais! Thicker sounds with more layering possibilities and a couple eccentric "sub-effects," I'll call them, for lack of better vernacular. Being able to route the synth keyboard (which is polyphonic when used for percussion!) sounds to the upper keyboard is extraordinary, and the percussion sounds can similarly be routed in two directions. I still miss the E-70 though. I paid a king's ransom to have the E-70 shipped to me back in the day, but 2 out of 3 of my Kawais I got for free within 4 hours driving distance! One of the Organ Forum moderators is essentially a Kawai tech and used to play for them back in the glory days. He is a real gentleman, a great player, and a tremendous resource.

Have you tried loading custom waves in the WK yet? Should be pretty useful. Also wondering can you edit the filter cutoff amount on keyed velocity when editing a sound on there?
@sssyntax
@sssyntax 10 месяцев назад
Hi, I've loaded a few samples in. It's a good feature. Something to note is that the conversion process alters the sound in unexpected ways. Similar to sampling on an ensoniq mirage. So while its a great feature, you never quite know how it will turn out. As for the filter, from memory there are some extra parameters for filter behaviour in the software editor.
@kenzieprice6745
@kenzieprice6745 10 месяцев назад
@@sssyntax Thanks for sharing. Not very many people seem to have tried these features of the ZPI models and shared the exp. Is there anything the MZ2000 can do that the WK 3800/8000 can't do with the editor at that point?
@sssyntax
@sssyntax 9 месяцев назад
@@kenzieprice6745 @kenzieprice6745 yeah for some reason very few people bother to look at the big casio models. One major difference between the mz and wk is that the mz doesn't offer sampling. Editing sounds is a lot more involved on the mz once you go beyond the fast edit mode. Many/most of the sounds in the 3500-8000 range are from the mz2000 so there are a few similarities there. The mz has many more features though. One interesting place the mz falls short of the wk range is in its dsp parameters. Where as the dsp on the wk range have loads of parameters, on the mz you only get 2 parameters per effect! Crazy! Other than that, and the standard casio traits of master dsp not saving consistently, dsp is pretty much similar but more varied than the wk range. There's poly portamemto and after touch which is cool. Frustratingly, the mz works with 2 upper and 2 lower sounds from the keyboard but none of that can be triggered via midi. So what ever sounds you set up using easy edit in a registration for upper and lower, they are completely independent of all midi and are off limits to everything other than the keys. This makes no sense. None of the mixer settings for external/midi channels saves correctly either. So you can set up all 16 channels as you want it, save it, and all it saves is the upper and lower data that can't be accessed via midi hahaha. Just crazy. There's also audio input so you can run a mic, guitar or stereo line in. This can be put through the master dsp which is cool, though the ad/da conversion sucks the life out of what ever sound you run through it. The onboard speakers are amazing but sadly, like the wk range, the line out sound is no where near as good as the on-board speaker sound. All of that said, it's a tremendous keyboard that sounds massive and allows 4 layers per voice and tons more synth editing than the wk range, like filter and pitch envelopes etc. Each of the 4 voice layers has its own dedicated and independent synth parameters too. There's a lot of song writing and pattern creation options that I've not really tried much. It's a very, very powerful rompler that has loads of potential. Similar to say an early motif or Triton. So over all, the mz offers heaps more than the wk range in most areas even though it has more short comings and fewer core sounds than the wk range.
@funkiEst
@funkiEst 10 месяцев назад
If I'm not mistaken i think the filter modes are only low pass isnt it ? and unlike the later WK series this one isnt capable of loading your own samples isn't it ? congratulations for that awesome sound you achieved, definitely much more impressive to me than the original built in sound !
