We're going fishin and taking you with us! Mashing video and pics of our fish slaying exploits on the California Delta and beyond. Your subscription is greatly appreciated.
Thank you. It was my second to last edit before I left California for the greener pastures of Texas. I miss the delta, but love our new fishery (the Laguna Madre) good luck out there.
Missed you guys ! I'm getting back into my passion after healing my rotator cuff. That's a awesome lure. What size and color should I try in the delta and what rod set up should I use? Thanks and Tight Line Tom :D
Hi Jack! My favorite on the delta is the 118g suspending waxwing. The 88g standard waxwing is also very effective. Bone, green shad and chartruse over white are my favorite colorways. Hope you're out there soon, pain free, bro.
There was a time I used to fish black bass exclusively...in fact, I caught my first delta striper pitching a senko under a tree...that striper changed everything for me - I chased them 100% since 2005 'till last year. That said we did score some nice incidental black bass over the years, including this pig; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RnpRdzrpr4w.html
I have a few and have caught a few bass on them. Shimano website is clearing them out recently along with the waxwing rods, looks like they may be discontinued.
Hey Mr.Tom, any deep sea fishing planned for this summer? It's Charlee lol. My family wants to go. Can you please help direct me in the right direction? I know you're the pro!!! Lol Thanks!
@@donaldstephensen8654 I would recommend this boat (The California Dawn) who operate out of Emeryville sportfishing. Capt. and crew are amongst the best, but there are several operations out of Emeryville who slay.
Hi my name is Fernando I’m looking for a good fishing spot I’m new here in CaliforniaHow can I get to the fishing spot that you’re fishing at on this video I live in Stockton California appreciate if your reply thank you
Hi Fernando. Your timing is good - it's this time of year that I would hit the Port of Stockton. December can be amazing in the port when all the shad gets pushed back in there. You also have access from the bank on the north side of the channel. All the spots I fished in this video are out in the West Delta...bank fishing is very limited out there, but if you have a boat, well the world is your oyster! those striper can be anywhere! Good luck and thanks for your question.
Just did a 2 day Ca delta fishing fest, day 1 bent out hooks and mosquito bites. Day 2......replaced all my Megabass Jerk baits with stronger hooks....... forgot about my clips and let’s just say one fish damn near opened up my clip. Was fun!
Right on man! It's the time of year you want to be out there as much as possible. And good on you for switching those hooks out - a lesson we often learn the hard way. Be mindful of the weight of the hooks if you're switching out hooks on suspending jerk baits...it can diminish the suspending properties of your bait.
Right on Sergio, thank you for your comment. When the YFT are up and boiling there is no better place in the world to throw lures. Poppers in particular!
The bone color has worked real well for the Calicos and ‘Cuda out of Dana Point. I’ve never been able to get a YT to go for one but I may give it a try again on my 10 day at the end of Sept.
I recall our discussion a few years back regarding the waxwing. My luck with waxwing YT has been from patty fishing. Super active fish that charged the boat...pretty much everything was getting hammered. A lot harder to get bit when the better fish are being harder to catch.
RIght on! Thank you for your comment. Knowledge is no good unless it can be shared with others. Pick up a waxwing and throw it to your local predators....you will get bit!
It is, Nico. We had witnessed a killer sierra sunrise, spotted a heard of deer, swooped by a bald eagle and limits for 3...all by 10am! Tight lines to you and thanks for your comment.
If I have myself and say 2 others, 10 or so casts. That means approximately 30 casts for the boat. Sometimes if it doesnt look/feel right may only make a few but more often than not we are drifting and usually work point A to point B making casts along the way.
Hi and thanks John. Main line is 50lb. braid and leaders range from 30 to 50lb mono depending on type (wood v. plastic) and size of the baits I'm throwing.
Hi thanks for your question - I am using a variety of rod/reel combos in this edit and cover each specifically in the video. Phenix rods M-1/M1 inshore and Titan series rods; Waft Iron Feather. Reels - 200 sized Diawa Tutula and Shimano Tranx; Abu Revo Toro.
Nice Tomo, another epic video regarding the wide-open fishing during the Yellowfin Tuna run in Panama. I like that tune - 6:40 & 11:20 mark on Video. The music coming and going angler voice, and voice-over narration. Great perspective on what went down during their epic visit to Come Fish Panama in April 2019!
Thank you, Kerry! It was indeed, a week of tuna fishing that has set the bar high! Perhaps the most amazing week I've yet to experience, but its hard to say...always amazing fishing with you! I did explore several music genres in this edit and stoked on the overall sound feel. Glad you picked up on the volume edits as well - one of a few new things I applied in putting this together.
thanks Doc! Totally appreciate your compliments and stoke on the edit. There's plenty more Panama edits, Ca Delta and So Cal offshore on my channel...even a Louisiana Redfish edit from 2016...I don't pump out content, but try to make what I do edit worth watching. Thanks again and your subscription/likes/comments are appreciated!
just came back from Panama, it was our first, but I guess the tuna timing was a bit off. We got some but not like you guys. the boil you all had was insane. Next year, we plan to go in april. Keep fishing.
Hi Doc, yes it can be hit/miss at times, like all fisheries. As a suggestion, try to time your visits with the new moon cycle - once we started doing that, the tuna fishin improved overall for us. More surface activity/boiling fish. Glad you got down there - looks like our week in April is crushed due to travel restrictions/corona virus.
