My name is Gretchen and welcome to my channel! Over the past couple of years, I've rekindled a love for crafting. When the kids were small, I would do all kinds of crafts and then life took over and the leftover crafts moved to a plastic bin in the basement. Wow! Crafting has a come a long way since the 90's. My current love is crafting handmade journals with a dash of craft randomness thrown in. I'm also a candle admirer who enjoys the love of fragrance. I use my candle and wax stash to post a monthly themed video, aptly named "Burn and Melt." With all my hobbies, I need to throw in a haul to satisfy my shopping tooth (and use up coupons!) Please join me for a bit, subscribe and stick around a while.
My FISKAR is the biggest piece of crap ! The blade didnt even last 8 days !! And i only used 70 lb card stock a handful of times !! Went and bought more with the same result. Never will i purchase they're crud again. Boycott ! Lol 😂
I use to buy my blades at AC Moore and then they went and closed the whole chain down. Now when I get a good Michaels coupon I’ll buy a blade but it seems they rarely give good coupons anymore.
Yay! So happy for you Gretchen!!! I can't wait to go along for the ride! Looking forward to seeing your crafts making a comeback! Prayers for a quick and easy recovery. Congrats again to you and Mark!
Monica :) :) :) Oh girl, I can't wait to be the conductor on this ride! I'm so excited to get a craft room again. I miss everyone and look forward to doing some lives again. Thank you for the prayers and will be sure to keep everyone updated.
How exciting! The dream home and land you described years ago is becoming a reality! We are so happy for you and Mark. My friend had the surgery and things really improved for her. I expect it will do the same for you as well. Looking forward to seeing the progress and you feeling better. Miss you ❤ M&B
Hello friend!!! Yes, making these dreams come to fruition! Good to hear things improved for your friend. The neurosurgeon has the same outlook for me and I can't wait to use my hands again. Watch out jewelry findings, here I come! LOL. Hope you and your family are well. Miss you too.
Hi Gretchen, I couldn't find the video that shows you making the Valentines craft. Was it recent? Also, where did you get the vintage looking elephant?
Here is the link for the Valentine craft. The wooden Valentine elephant I got on Amazon. Comes with other designs and a hole at the top to hang. You can search by vintage wooden ornaments. EASY! ❤️Valentine Day💜Craft|Craft With Me ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6a4puC_qgvw.html
I don't really have any theme for February either. I'm never drawn to candles that are Valentine themed....so I burn whatever. Good choices. I have an old Farmstead Apple & pumpkin value pack too I just discovered.
Roses belong in a vase of water and not in my wax though I’ll light all the berry scents I can find. Valentine is another day in my book but our town is having a chocolate walk next weekend. Tickets are $25 per person so I don’t know if I’ll be cheap or cough the dough to go.
I remember your Candy Corn party! It was fun! This month I am burning DW Home Sugar Cookies. I forgot I had it until I was going thru a box and found it. I figured Valentines Day/Cookies, etc. It's a stretch, but I don't really have a lot of choices just now for February. I also placed an Apple Cinnamon chunky pillar candle on the kitchen table. Just because it's red. My slow time of the year is coming up. I don't like fresh scents, and don't do many florals, so Spring is not too busy burn wise for me. I really like that Valentine's craft that you made. I love vintage Valentines cards.
Sugar cookies are a great pick for February. I’m the same, no florals or fresh scents in my arsenal. I still want to melt down some of my candles for the warmer. Sometimes I really don’t want to burn a candle. Vintage Valentines are my weakness too. Unfortunately, I don’t own many. For the craft I used wooden reproduction ornaments. Less guilt when I use hot glue. Happy February ❤️
Yay, I’ve been waiting for your wax and candle picks ☺️ great picks!! I picked up a few of the returning favorites from Yankee, it’s nice they bring back some of the scents of previous years. Hope you’re having a great week and enjoy your weekend. Happy February!
Nice picking up some YC returning favorites. I must get some Cotton Candy. Do you know if it smells like the older model? My nearest YC is an outlet and it is over an hour away. Punxy Phil predicted an early spring so I’m excited (even though he is usually wrong). Not much planned for the weekend but I’ll make the most of it. You have a great February too!
@@Catnpaws I didn’t get the cotton candy but the returning favorites I did get smell very close to the original so hopefully cotton candy does too. That’s one I’ll have to get next time I order if they still have it, love cotton candy scents for spring. I’m lucky to have a local Yankee Candle store but it’s very small and I usually end up ordering online. Haha hopefully this time he’s right on the prediction, I don’t think anyone would complain about an early spring. Thank you, I’ll look forward to next months wax/candle picks 😊
My blade has just gone blunt & I don’t have a spare. Thank you for sharing this as I’m right in the middle of a project! Wonderful tip & it will get me out of trouble. Thanks ❤
Thanks for this tip! I can't find Fiskars style K blades anywhere, so when I can't sharpen my current blades anymore, I'll have to buy another trimmer. It won't be Fiskars though.
You’re welcome! I always have confusion when I’m buying blades because I can’t remember the letter and two of the blades look so similar plus they are expensive.
Excellent choices!! I am burning KC Aurum and Evergreen, Sandalwood and Cade, Tinsel Time, Northern Lights and YC Gingerbread Maple large jars this month. Also going through YC advent calendars ( I got the one with minis and tealights)! Love Christmas scents. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ❤
You picked out some great scents this month. Gingerbread Maple is one of my all time favorites. The advent calendars are so much fun. It has been a couple years since I’ve purchased though I should because they are exciting to open.
Great picks for December! 😊 I’ve been feeling the same way lately with melting more wax than burning candles and I didn’t partake in candle day this year either. Love all of the unique vendor wax you’ve picked up they all sound really nice. Happy December! 🎄❄️☃️ have a great weekend.
When I walked into BBW yesterday I expected a long line but wasn’t too bad. Walked around with one candle and after three laps, put the candle down and walked down to TJ Maxx. A lot of the good candles were gone so I passed and will enjoy the ones I have at the house. Have a great December 🎉
@@Catnpaws I think stores in general were slow this year during the Black Friday shopping season but surprised that bath and body works wasn’t busier. Sometimes it’s a sign we don’t need it lol. I need to do the same thing and enjoy what I have at home. Thank you 😊 can’t wait to see what you plan to burn in the new year.
My house hosted a birthday party and trick or treat night. I had a candle burning both times but had to put it out because I didn’t trust the adults. Lol. Three weeks later and I’m still burning that same candle!! Hope you had a fun October. I’m looking forward to trying out my new melts.
Great choices! I love all the fall scents. Yeah, coffee cake doesn't usually have any coffee in it at all, but I don't know about wax using the name. For September, I've gone all autumn scents.
Woohooo the fall season is here! 😊 great picks for September, fall is the best time for wax and candles! I love pumpkin peanut brittle, it’s so funny how everyone’s noses and scent preferences are different. Have a great weekend and enjoy all the wonderful smells of autumn. 🧡🤎
Happy Fall !!!!!!!! I wish it was Fall all year. Candles were made for Fall ❤🍁🍂And I got both Boonana Toffee and the Blood Orange Pumpkin… I like them both on cold sniff!
I love this cutter for smaller cuts (I use a guillotine for larger ones). I HATE the cost of these blades and they don't seem to last for very long. They are $8+.... So, I am hoping this will work and give my blades a longer life! Thanks for sharing!
The biggest challenge is making sure you sharpen the angle that cuts. If you do it and doesn't work, flip the blade and try again. I really use my trimmer pretty hard. The blades are pricey so if I'm lucky to get a coupon from Michaels then I pick up a pack. I too have a larger self sharpening guillotine but this is so convenient and lives on my crafting desk.
Good to see you all and all the holiday happenings! I am looking forward to Fall. We've been pretty lucky this year and it hasn't been too hot this Summer. However, this weekend and next week it's going to get hot! I hope that will be it for the year. This year has flown by so I plan to enjoy the upcoming Fall as much as possible. Have a great weekend!
Good to hear from you. We have been lucky with the weather too. Took a while to warm up but never got too hot. I’ve started taking down my summer decor because I really want to decorate for fall this year. Last year I wasn’t feeling it after lugging hundreds of pounds of candles across the state. I’m helping Brett move this weekend so it is going to be a long day. I’ll be ready to lounge by Monday. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.
Loved watching what you’ve been up to Gretchen with your family, looked like a lovely time Chloe seemed to be enjoying herself, there’s only one place over here to get bath and body works soaps, and they are soo expensive, i try to get a couple in the sales, you looked well stocked up lol, love wax melts, the ones you got sounded like they’d smell really nice, yep the dark nights of autumn, fall are creeping in, funny how we all love this time of the year, won’t enjoy the price of heating the house though 😬, hope you have a great weekend, we are babysitting our 2 youngest over night, so Sunday we’ll be shattered 🤣 Thankyou for the vlog xx
I’ve always been a fall girl. My birthday is later this month and as a child it meant junk food on my special day. Otherwise, we never had candy or store bought treats. Then comes the quirky Halloween and Christmas. My gas bill will go from $30 this month and start climbing. I’m sorry to hear BB&W is expensive. Then again their “regular” prices are ridiculous. That is why I stock up on a good coupon. We had a good summer and I’m spending this weekend helping my son move. Sounds like you will have your hands full too this weekend.
Dollar Tree is awesome for season decor. Thanks for sharing their Halloween stuff. Going to make a trip next week 😊 also can’t wait to see this months burn and melt. Hope you’re having a great week!
Our Michael's doesn't have the Spooky Town out yet. I bought the Black Cat Hotel a couple years ago. Our fall was full price but think Hobby Lobby's was on sale. Have a good weekend.
The sales associate was so kind to plug it in. I was recording and she walked up and said, “let me help you out.” The mystery meat factory is a bit too spooky thought still neat with all the animation.
So excited!!! We just had to get our 98 year old rewired so I’m gonna be decking it out with a lot of Halloween because we’re hosting the Halloween party at our condo! So we got a lot of new industrial 1920’s lighting and spruced up our 98 year old chandieler that’s made of copper and pewter and I’m gonna put fall leaf garlands on then and Cobb webbs! And the hallway light and kitchen and dinning room light will be on a dimmer! So excited!!! Awsome video!!
I’m not trying to whisk away summer, but I look forward to Sept 1st and breaking out the decorations. How wonderful you and yours will be hosting the Halloween shenanigans 👻 this year. I can picture the lights, cobwebs and decor.
Happy Independence Day! Went record shopping today…and will stay indoors away from all the craziness tonight. Been on the road, so haven’t melted a thing.
Had a wonderful 4th! Family and I went to the park for the food trucks and then spent the evening in the back yard. Hope you and yours had a great holiday too!
